A great surprise..we were upgraded!

We just returned from a short trip to BWV (June 1-5). We had ressies for BWV Studio, standard view. Upon checking in we were upgraded to a Preferred View, Room 2059, right above the tunnel to the Luna Park area. It was a great room.....could see the lagoon, some of the Boardwalk entertainment and we had flowering trees right outside our balcony. We had full shade (thank heavens, since it was 98 outside with 100% humidity...just a trifle warm! ) Great time, and what a wonderful surprise!

Patabel, That is GREAT!! It almost NEVER happens, so Congratulations!! How is it that you were upgraded? Was it offered voluntarily? Or did you request it?

No, we did not request it. Upon check-in the CM told us we had a complimentary upgrade....and even had a choice of room!

My opinion is that they like to have the rooms that are along the Boardwalk look occupied, so if there are too many that are available, they upgrade. Whatever their reason, I am very happy (and grateful) for the upgrade!

Congrats!! On our first trip "home" to the Boardwalk we were upgraded from std 1 bdrm to preferred. We overlooked the quiet pool and partial boardwalk. It was wonderful! Not realizing that Pixie Dust DOES exist there I spent the first 4 days worrying that they were going to take the "preferred" view allotment of points. It wasn't until I asked a CM and found out it was "complimentary" did I relax and enjoy the view . On this last trip my Mom & Dad were with us and reserved a studio. They were upgraded to a one bedroom preferred view overlooking the pool. I think upgrades may be more popular than we think.

For those of you who have been lucky enough to be upgraded, what time of year were you travelling?!! Did you ask at all or was it just offered!? Every year so far we have booked preferred view, but this year we've gone for standard view so I'll keep my fingers crossed for an upgrade!
