A great big pickle...sigh.

:worship::worship::worship: at your post over there!

I haven't been to Ohana for dinner since the menu change a few yrs ago..I know some people liked it better before. It's a really cool experience though, as long as you are semi-outgoing.

We love Ohana for breakfast too...It's great to sit there and look out the window at the castle, and then hop the monorail over to MK. And of course, I :love:Lilo and Stitch, and they are getting harder to find out together.

Agreed...Kari, excellent responses to that post! I don't know why people think because they pay $450 a night that they should get "special" treatment for meals, etc. You are paying for location, larger rooms and, perhaps, a better view. She needs to outgrow herself thinking of herself as a princess.

We've not done Ohanas for breakfast. But we are not, sorry, Lilo & Stitch fans, and we much preferred the old breakfast when it was a buffet with Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and Chip & Dale. But I really want to try dinner. And we are pretty outgoing--especially DH in his Eeyore ears! :rotfl:

Good Afternoon, my friends!!

Has anyone heard from Tracy? I'm a bit concerned - hope things are okay with her and her family.

ETA: I am deleting most of this post because I think it was misunderstood.

Kathy, thanks for the heads up about the letter posted on the Lost the Magic thread.

I posted on that thread way back in the beginning...and while I think her letter is absurd and with an almost unbelievable amount of entitlement, in essence I understand what she is saying (please don't throw anything at me!!!). I also think she is an obnoxious snob.

Ya know, I LOVE the GF...it is my absolutely all time favorite, but our first stay we were not treated well at check-in at all...when I inquired how much it might be to upgrade to a lagoon view, the CM actually said to me, "You have a very good rate and probably could not afford it" - excuse me?? Since when did the CM know what I had in my bank account? I was not certainly not dressed like a slob (although some wealthy people do lol). After calling to change rooms (he put us in the one and only type of room we asked not be in - a dormer), we then had the most wonderful CM. I dropped off a note of thanks to the front desk that evening and when we returned found a lovely gift basket with a card wishing us a wonderful stay signed from Minnie and Mickey. WOW...just because I said thank you!!

I am with the crowd who has experienced the changes at the Parks and resorts since we first began going (twice a yr) back in 1981. I've posted this a trillion times, but we only stayed at monorail resorts back then and CBR when it was brand new in 1988.

Sooo....I do think Disney has changed over the years - guest service is not even close to it what it was 20 yrs ago, cleanliness is not close to what it was (my mother, who is the cleanest person on earth, loved Disney because it was so clean - she would faint now. LOL). But these things are mostly due to cutbacks, but perhaps also because (imho)WDW became so big - adding more and more resorts to compete with off-site hotels. In the early days, this allowed more guests to stay on-site - now the cost of a value is higher than what we paid for the Poly or CR in the 80's...even early 90's.

I also feel the food quality has gone down and prices up. Hate that darn DDP!! LOL Because I am selfish and want to make a reservation when I arrive or snag a walk up now and then. LOL

Nevertheless, I still find walking down Main Street enchanting as ever...just like hearing the music when we walk into Future World or seeing the palm trees on Hollywood Blvd.

Have guests changed? Well, yeah, I run into more rude guests than years ago - but the place is so big and can be stressful...but mostly, they are few and as shocking as it may be to us, some never get the enchantment and treat "our place" like any old amusement park.

That poster is as obnoxious as they come....and those are the type of guests I hate running into at GF or YC or even the parks...they reek snobbery and entitlement - for some reason they seem to frequent GF and YC resorts more. She had not been then since 1998 and she calls herself a frequent guest? Because she had 17 trips prior to that?

Yes, GF did have a full mini-bar even in 2004, but guests complained and sometime since October 2004 GF emptied the mini-bars at the requests of guests.

After AS opened we noticed that AS buses came more frequently, but we never once thought we deserved better being at the Poly etc...we actually thought it was because AS was /is a larger resort and therefore needed more buses to accommodate more guests. Common sense rather than entitlement?

I also remember the days when a resort ID was required for the monorail and buses...and I've missed it at times....what she forgot is that it did not have to be resort specific - a guest with any resort ID could board a resort monorail or resort bus.

Disney does odd things - our first stay at CBR the room had a fridge...I always chuckle when I see posts saying how happy guests were when Disney put a fridge in the mod rooms - actually, they had removed the fridge and put new ones in a couple of yrs later.

I'm old and have been staying in Disney resorts a long time (not as long as those who went in '71 lol)....I remember the good ole days..but these days are pretty good too...

Sorry about the vent!!! And thanks for not throwing anything at me!

I'm worried about Tracy too. I've posted on her FB wall as well.

I won't throw anything at you. Personally, I don't like the GF at all--I find it very stuffy from our one and only visit. And I can see you "understanding" her, but I think her princess attitude and that she deserves special treatment because of the amount of money she is paying is pathetic. I was so irate with her letter, that I copied it and posted my own letter to Jay Rasulo (who I have corresponded with in the past) and Mr. Iger giving them my impressions of Disney and "the princess." Please no stones back. :)

I'm sorry for the ridiculously long post...but, hey, I've been quiet for a few days!! ;)

Where is Tracy??? I'm going over to FB and post there tos ee if she might see that one.

While I do agree that WDW has gone downhill over time, I think a lot of it has to do with the guests more than with cutbacks. Back in the 70s/80s/90s when things were "so clean" it is because people actually still taught their kids to respect the property of others. People would make a concious effort to put their trash in the can instead of wherever it happened to land. The CMs still walk around cleaning constantly, but now it is after 80,000 3 yr olds instead of 40,000 who were making a concious effort. The food quality in my opinion varies greatly by restaurant. Many taste like heat and eat meals, and I personally find very few desserts that I like. But some still do an excellent job. I think the DDP is excellent because it does what it was intended... fills the restaurants. If the restaurants aren't full, then WDW is losing money, and eventually it will come back to me.

And I totally agree that lady was an obnoxious snob! What kind of person is so miserable in life that she seeks out the DIS to make THAT her first post! She only has a post count of 10.

ATTENTION TRACY!!! Come out with your hands up!

I say we stalk her and find her home phone if she doesn't get in touch soon.

No, no, of course no stones back! As I said, in no way do I agree with her.... I found her unbelievably obnoxious and her sense of entitlement obnoxious. I absolutely do not agree with her on any level. I only said I get the essence of what she was saying.

Besides her prissy entitlement - she began her letter in exactly a way anyone reading it will be put off immediately.

I've written to Disney twice in over 25 yrs of stays (so more than 50 stays)...both reason were serious enough to write, but both times I began the letter complimenting all the CM's at the resort before I ever mentioned the other reason for writing. I did not write for any kind of compensation, but felt it was serious enough an issue to mention.

Both times I received a very nice call from Guest Services thanking me for my letter, saying how much they appreciated my mentioning CM's by name who had been helpful or just doing their job well and they apologized for what had happened.

I don't know what they will say to that woman - after they finish laughing.

As for GF - I found it stuffy until we stayed there...then I loved it. Felt like I'd died and gone to heaven - never wanted to leave the balcony or room...I'm not into feeling like a princess, but the night I climbed into the bed at GF, I think I felt like one for the first time in my life. It was so relaxing - 3 ngts felt like 5....heavenly. :cloud9:

GF has never appealed to me for that same reason... stuffy and snotty. I think the lobby area seems so cold and impersonal with all the marble. And I definitely felt looked down upon by the women in their capris and heels, with their children dressed for "tea and crumpets." :rotfl: I have never seen any more of the resort than the main looby and 1900 Park Fare, though, so maybe I would feel differently if I were staying there. I personally like a more laid back experience.

This is similar to our visit to the GF. And we had one of those women in their capris and high heels look at us like we were "dirt" because we were in t-shirts and shorts and Markie started crying because he need to have his diaper changed. The look we got you would have thought we were beating him to death. Nope, I'll take CSR any day of the week.

But I still love you Christine!

Aw... Okay, believe me, if you stayed there you would see all the regular folks who stay there too! PLENTY of T-shirts.

While I loved our room and view, I was less comfortable in the lobby than at any other resort we've stayed.

Please know, I did not mean to sound as though I was defending that woman - I am not. But everyone who stays at GF is not like that - especially now with all the codes and discounts (I would not have stayed there when it first opened. Our first stay was 2004) We stayed both times with a 40% discount. Remember the photo of me being silly in front of Minnie at EPCOT? That was taken one of the times we stayed at GF.

True, I do not wear t-shirts (cuz I look horrible in T's), but I went with a friend that year, who is a former nun, and she only wears T-shirts and jeans. I'm just trying to say that these days (as opposed to when Markie was a baby ;)) there is a wider variety if guests at GF. Which is probably why miss snotty didn't like her stay this time!!!

In 2006 I convinced my extremely laid back friend to try GF - she was sure she would hate it...guess what? Yep, LOVED it!!

We're always asking DISers not to judge a resort until we've stayed there...so, my friends..well, wait..I hate the ALStars and have not stayed there...the decor made me dizzy when we visited. But I have stayed at POP 5 times, and while I say never again (and said never before I stayed there)..never say never, right?:thumbsup2

Kari, Ms. Fancy Pants just replied to your post on the thread and I shot right back at her!:rotfl2:

Kathy and Kari, just read your last two posts - outstanding!!!:cheer2:

Another great post is #318 (think that's the number).

I would post, but it's all been said already. I tend to say too much anyway.:rolleyes1

Ms. Fancy Pants has just taken a dig at Kari and I have reported her to the moderators. I will not put up with that from ANYONE!

It just makes me laugh! Like I posted there... wishing for a DISmeet she would never forget! :rolleyes1 I didn't grow up in rural NC without learning how to take care of a witch like that!

All she did (like the CBR people) is confirm to me that I will never stay at that resort because of people like her (plus the fact I just don't like either resort).

Kathy, did you report the same one I did - or was there another later? I was with the baby so am just catching up. Here's a part of the one addressed to Kari, which I reported after I read it a bit earlier. She was way out of line from the very first post.

Seems several reader reported her - she is way off base.

Although I have stayed at both GF and CBR, I do not feel comfortable on either FAQs thread. I do sometimes reply to question on CBR, but never on the GF thread. Last summer we almost stayed at GF again and I was reading through the FAQs thread - it was so cliquish I would not post there..and they only talk about their CL stays. That thread was shut down by the mods, and when another was started it was by a mod.

Please don't group me in with the others - I hope you know I am not like that.

We're not hating because you like GF! The only experience we have had there (separately) is 1900 Park Fare and the lobby, and maybe Kathy has eaten at some of the other restaurants. But the attitude of the posters, and the feel of the lobby, is a big turn off. I think 1900 Park Fare is one of the best dinners I have had at WDW, and will eat there again. But the feeling I get from the guests in the lobby, and the lobby itself, leave me no desire to stay there. Not to mention that I am WAY too cheap to pay that for a room! :rotfl: I am glad you enjoyed your stay there. I love hearing about all of WDWs resorts, and seeing pictures. (hint hint!)

As for CBR, I am considering it for our trip next year. But... I am also thinking about DLR and a Panama Canal Repositioning cruise on the Disney Wonder in 2011... so I may skip next years trip, too. Oh, no! I guess that makes me poor and without class, and not deserving of a WDW vacation! :scared1:

That is the gal I reported (and I reported her after she made the snide remark about Kari putting on a bra! Totally classless!

Agreed...no hating here. Kari and I know you are not like that "princess" and others like her who have posted. It's just people like her that turn us off the whole GF resort. No fear...we still love you.

Wow....I was really busy with work today, and you all were really talkative. Looks like I have a lot to catch up on.
I noticed Tracy hasn't been around too...I posted iit on FB too...Tracy...We miss you! I hope you are ok...we are here for you if you need anything...come lean on us!:grouphug:
