Good morning.

I'm sorry, I haven't been in the mood to post. I've been pretty bummed out. I guess I've been having more bad days than good, lately. :(

That's an excellent price you got for the plane tickets. I wish! That price *might* get me to the next town over. Sigh.

Morning, Ladies!

Did I kill the thread????

I hope not...we were having fun!

I hope you are all doing ok!!!:grouphug:

Never!!! :grouphug:

Somehow I missed your post about airfare - fabulous!! :cool1:

Kathy's right about the latest reviews making the rounds. Some DISers are mean-spirited, while others share their experiences, which unfortunately, have been going downhill for awhile.

It makes me sad to see how WDW has changed over the years - guess it happens most everywhere, but never expected it at WDW. The bigger it became the more changes, not for the better, started happening.

I miss the clean parks and restrooms, the resorts begin beautifully clean all the time never having to even think about cleaning a room upon arrival or making a call to housekeeping or the front desk about anything. And the little things that are gone, for the most part now.

No place is perfect, but Disney seems to be missing the mark more these days. Do wish housekeeping would improve, but to do that they need to hire more housekeepers so each one does not have such a heavy load. It's got to be one of the most difficult jobs anywhere.

So much work...and if guests are messy...ugh..have you ever walked by a room that looked like a hurricane had been thru?

I still enjoy our visits...nothing can replace the enchantment of walking into the MK when the streets are freshly washed from the night crew...seeing the Castle at the end of Main street..sigh...

...and I still think we should plan a girls trip!!!! :dance3: :woohoo: :thumbsup2 :grouphug:

No, I was just really busy yesterday. And I think most of us were REALLY depressed with all the bad reviews of resorts yesterday and some of the bickering going on about whose fault it is. Some of the posts were just outright nasty!

The airfare sounds great--good for you! The weather here today is going to be 95! But you won't hear me complain...I'll take heat any time over cold and snow and rain! :)
I'm so glad it's finally sunny here, and it looks like we will have a nice weekend too!

I agree about some of the posts lately...it seems like some people are complaining about nothing, but others have legitimate complaints and people jump all over them.

Sorry you have been having bad days. Just think about how soon you will be in DISNEY!!!:grouphug:

I got really lucky with the tickets...now I feel like the trip is "official" If I couldn't find good airfare, we may have had to cancel the trip.
Never!!! :grouphug:

It is sad how quality and service have declined in the past few years. Unfortunately, itis everywhere, not just Disney, but you add in the tough economy, and the fact that Disney is supposed to be the Most Magical Place on Earth, and people get upset when their expectations are not met. As much as I love the DIS, I think it can raise expectaitons a bit....not everyone will get a Pixie Dust upgrade at check in, fast passes for a minor inconvenience, etc.

I still love Disney and am up for a Girl's trip any time, though! (I can't say that my wallet is, but I am!!!)

I read that story...so cool. There is a thread on the Community Board that I have been posting on with a few of the winners who were planning their trip. It was neat to see how excited they were.

Sigh.

I am not excited in the least to be going in however many days, we're going. How pathetic is that?

ETA: Oh, I guess it's 37 days.

I sometimes get down after all the excitement of planing...it's like a Disney planning rush..all the decisions etc..then once the decisions are made...the balloon sort of deflates.

We're here for you and as Kathy said, ready to support however we can.:grouphug:

Sooo true! It's easy to forget the DIS may be large, but is but a teeny % of guests who visit and stay on-site. It is an indication of the downward guest services, but the hype about upgrades etc..and even the expectation of magic and dust is an awful for Disney to live up to....

...on the other hand ;), Disney created it all!!

On our first visit in 1981, we stayed at the CR ,parking view wing and never gave a thought to room location, upgrade and so on...never would have occured to us. We had a fabulous, fabulous trip. Was everything perfect?

Well, other than my sliding off the booth onto the floor in the Buffeteria (or whatever it was called) at CR...with the monorail gliding by and a full house :rotfl2:...yeah, I have only wonderful memories. Sure, the CR front desk manager was not going to let us check-in b/c I didn't have a photo ID.:scared1:..but hey, he finally gave in to the woman in tears with 4 munchkins under the age of 10. I don't drive and didn't have an ID..and it was my very first time at a hotel as an adult!!

Those were the days...sigh...:cloud9:

Yes...I have been to WDW many times as a child, and then planned 2 trips as with my family as as adult before I even knew the DIS existed, but somehow I survived, and they were all fun trips. Sometimes I think I overplan now. This trip, we are really trying to not plan at all, although now that we are doing dining, I have to plan a little.

I just noticed that you changed the dates in Toby's memorial. I was born in 1973 too.

I just noticed that you changed the dates in Toby's memorial. I was born in 1973 too.

Aww, that makes you extra special!!!

I'm a fly by the seat of my pants kinda girl when it comes to vacationing. I don't like to stress about where I am going to hang my hat or eat. All I expect is a clean room to sleep and shower in and clean places to eat with edible food. The rest of it is gravy. I am there to RELAX and have fun when I feel like it. I absolutely adore WDW. I think I am the biggest kid there is when it comes to Mickey Mouse. I am completely drawn in to the magic of it all. Everything is so negative lately.

The crap I've read on different boards lately and the way grown adults are behaving makes me question if am I going to run into this stuff on my vacation?! I don't have tolerence for crazy people. I just don't. So help me, if someone is yinging and yanging about a bus being 10 nanoseconds late... I think I might lose my ever loving mind. I'm just...well, so disappointed and disheartened with a lot of things. Even when a mod comes in to say, "hey, knock it off and behave", some "adult" still must swoop in to get the last word in or another dig of some sort. The self righteousness and snarkiness of some people just blows my mind. Seriously. My mama taught me that if I don't have anything to nice to say then don't say anything at all. Works wonders. It's not a difficult concept. Ugh.

Sorry guys. I'm babbling. I should just keep my mouth shut and I will. I am just really depressed and I don't even feel like going anymore. I haven't been sleeping well and this weather is absolutely miserable. I can't believe I'm feeling like this...well, I can, but why now?! Sheesh.

So true, so true.(not about your babbling - as you all know, I babble all the time...it's good, especially when not babbling to self.:thumbsup2)

I've found some other boards not nearly as negative as the DIS. The boards are much smaller, so I don't really feel a part of it, whereas here, it's easier to blend. if that makes sense.

I understand folks want to have their say. I've replied to lots of complaint threads, (sharing one's experience does not have to be a complaint), but I've never had an experience that ruined my vacation or the enchantment....the moment I walk into MK, EPCOT or MGM, my heart skips a beat. This is why I am not into solo trips (and kudos to those who like being solo). I like sharing the magic...not sure I could wave to Mickey alone...wouldn't be the same.

As for Disney transportation - I LOVE it!!!! I don't want to be in a car or parking lot at WDW..I want to feel a million miles away from reality.

I have a few friends who wouldn't go without a car ( Kathy :) ) and that's greats because it make their vacation perfect.

For those who take Disney transport, has anyone else noticed drivers & guests don't seem as friendly? Drivers used to tell stories and chit chat - now not even a greeting - or a reply when I say Good Morning! Guests used to chit chat with one another, but not so much anymore..I miss those days. Maybe life in general is busier, more hectic and with so much to do and see at WDW , guests do not relax enough.

Does anyone here go to a park everyday? Do you have down days just for resort time or visiting other resorts, pool time etc? We've always had at least a couple of days of no parks - and we enjoy those days so much.

Now I'm babbling!! It's contagious!! :scared1: :grouphug:

Let's start a "positive only" Disney site..or a thread!!!! Ya know, like What do you LOVE about Disney resorts and WDW??? :goodvibes  :thumbsup2

Steer clear of the resort board for a while. You have your resorts picked out, so no need to come here and read all the snarkiness! I find the Dining and Theme Park boards much more friendly! Know what would be fun? Look up the Hidden Mickeys threads, and find some that you might want to look for. We made a list of them for our last trip, even where to look for them... but forgot to look! :scared1: My favorite is the hidden Tink in BTMRR and the mickey in vines in Small World.

Yes, we do enjoy driving, especially because it is a peaceful drive around Disney and looking at things...especially after living in Chicago and dealing with Chicago traffic for 50+ years.

Mark and I go to the parks every morning, then back to the resort around 1:00 for a swim/nap (or my massage) and then back to dinner around 5:30 and then the parks. We do take one full day for the resort and perhaps off-site outlet mall shopping and we also spend one night at DTD.

Now I'm babbling!! It's contagious!! :scared1: :grouphug: It's okay...we love the babblers in this group!

There was an interesting thread on another forum:
What is the first word that pops into your head for every resort you've stayed at or visited. It's been interesting some of the answers I've read.

What a fun idea. Hidden Mickeys--we found two at the CSR last year...and, no, I'M NOT TELLING WHERE. lol

Yes, definitely go read the dining threads--especially some of the reviews. My FAVORITES are by MickeyNicki--she writes the BEST reviews and she has detailed pictures, descriptions, etc. And she has NEVER steered me wrong as far as food. I'm meeting her when we go to Marco Island in September!

Well, I guess my edit was futile. Oops

I've only stayed on site the one time so cannot comment on things changing or going down hill. We never had a seat on the bus when we were there. It was crowded. Did I flip a bird? No. It is what it is. I was just happy to have someone to haul my fat a** around for a change. LOL I guess I just don't get the impatience and overly high expectations (I feel) of some people. Why get caught up in the hustle and bustle? It's vacation!! I guess I am too laid back, maybe. I dunno.

We don't go to a park every day. Heck no. We alternate days, and depending on the weather, we may do two park days in a row. Basically, when we wake up, we just decide what we feel like doing. I'm up at the crack of dawn too. Love wandering around with my morning java taking in the scenery.

Nope. Still not feeling it. :(

edit - not gonna complain...
Complain away!! That's what we are here for!

I've found other Disney sites to be really cliquey, and never felt welcomed.

I tend to just let things roll off my back when I'm on vacation, no matter where I am....I'm just happy to be away from work and the stresses of everyday life. Have I had things go wrong when I'm in Disney? Absolutely....but I try and let it slide and move on with my trip.

I remember bus drivers being much more friendly and talkative...other guests too, but that has always been hit or miss. I think anymore, with so many people being extra picky the bus drivers may be afraid to strike up conversation, in case they are accused of not doing their job, or saying the wrong thing...which is a shame.

I would LOVE to have "down days", which is why I REALLY would love to do a girl's trip. With DH & I both working, and the kids in school, we usualy only go for 4 or 5 days. We always SAY we will take it easy, but with 4 days (and 2 of those are travel days), there just isn't time to do nothing. I'd love to take a day to just lay around the pool, or tour other resorts, etc.

I posted this on another thread, but will repeat myself... ;)

We love the buses. I have had a mixture of friendly and quiet drivers, but never (knock on wood) a rude one. Our last trip we were at Pop for 2 nights before our cruise. (Story there I'll tell you later.) We decided to go to Sea World instead of the Disney parks. Our kids always want to go there, but we don't want to spend $150 for 1 day tickets when it costs $12 to add on another day of WDW. Anyway, back at Pop for the night, we wanted to go to Poly to watch Wishes, and ride the monorail through Epcot to feel a bit of Disney magic. We were waiting in the bus stop at Pop for a MK bus, and a DHS bus pulls in. We waved him on, but he asked where we wanted to go. He ended up driving us straight to Poly, and dropping us off at the valet parking entrance! He was so friendly and generous, and was truly our best bus ride ever.

Does anyone here go to a park everyday? Do you have down days just for resort time or visiting other resorts, pool time etc? We've always had at least a couple of days of no parks - and we enjoy those days so much.

We do go everyday to the parks for at least part of the day. Our pool days, we will swim in the AM, eat lunch at the resort, then head to the parks around 2:00. We do that about twice during the trip. We also take a morning for DTD.

I just got a Hidden Mickey book for our trip...I figured it would be fun for Chris to look at on the plane, and it's not real big, so we can take it to the parks with us, and it will help make any long lines we may encounter go faster.
Nope. Still not feeling it. :(

I'm going to make brownies this afternoon - will that help???? I will even use a cookie cutter Disney head with Mickey Ears, if you like!!! ::yes::

Piglets Mommy ~ that's true about other sites..and I am too lazy to hang around and get know folks better. Shy has it's shadow side. wait..that didn't make sense. :confused3 :hippie:

Tracy....maybe you need to consider changing resorts????:dance3:
