A Girly-Girl's Guide to Planning for WDW. June 2012 PTR! 6/24-DISNEYBOUND/Last Post

Neat idea! I am going to be brave and try the Tokidoki Eyeliner.
How did you get to be so knowledgeable about all these products?
Know anything that would be good for dry skin with Rosacea? I'm pregnant and it always kicks in (third times now!).

Although those containers are great for when you're out shopping or at the park, be sure to travel (i.e. have in your suitcase) the full-bottle prescription bottle. TSA frowns upon a container of drugs with no labels/containers with prescription names on them. I usually bring my whole bottles (in carry-on of course, this is something you DON'T want to put with the rest of your luggage), and then break down into "travel sizes" for the park and purses. Vera Bradley has some really cute pill carriers, and so does Claire at the Malls. I found a small pill box that has "Happy Pills" on it, that I thought was cute.

Yes, this is EXTREMELY important information. It is very important not to just bring down a bunch of random pills with no containers to label them! I just use these for divvying up my pills after I unpack, like you said! I'm so happy you cleared that up for readers!

Thank you so much! That's exactly the explanation I needed. I had no idea tinted moisturizers "eat" your makeup ... wow! I typically wear powder over tinited moisturizer. When you wear BB cream, do you use anything to set it?

BTW, those ears are FABULOUS!!

It "eats" your makeup, because for a moisturizer to work, it has to be small enough to go into your pores. Foundation, for example, has bigger "molecules" so it doesn't sink into your pores and sits on the surface. That's why you wear tinted moisturizer and then everything is gone by the end of the day!

I set BB creams with a mineral or powder foundation if I want more coverage (like Benefit Hello Flawless which I LOVE) or a translucent setting powder like Bare Minerals Mineral Veil or Make Up Forever HD Setting Powder. (All of these are available at Sephore or Ulta Beauty). I never leave a cream product alone on my face, because it just smears off eventually if you don't set it.

Think about make-up in layers: Wet, dry, wet, dry. Always end with a dry and you're makeup lasts so much longer!

First I would prime the skin with a rich moisturizer that is good for sensitive skin. My mother has it and she loved Estee Lauder moisturizers and they don't irritate. For a cheaper option, Aveeno is wonderful brand for sensitive, quality skincare.

They I would prime the skin. Good primers I like are Urban Decay Complexion Primer Potion ( http://www.sephora.com/complexion-primer-potion-brightening-P242815?skuId=1187707) or for a cheaper option Loreal Magic Perfecting Base is wonderful (no SPF though, which I don't like).

Make sure you wait for you moisturizer to be completely sunken in before you prime!

THEN you need a good coverup. I have a few recommendations. There is a wonderful concealer called Erase Paste by Benefit. Like I mentioned my mom has this issue and she swears by it. I also use it and it is wonderful. Buy it here: http://www.sephora.com/erase-paste-P208603?skuId=1073691

If you can go to a makeup counter at Sephora, Macys, or Ulta (Ultas and Macys usually have Benefit), you could see if the colors work for you. My one gripe with Benefit is their color selection is so limited.

Then I would use a mineral foundation powder to set your concealer. (This would be good for Disney World).

In real life, you want full coverage, there are lots of good foundations out there. But if you want hard core coverage that lasts and is a quality product, NOTHING beats Cover FX. I use their Total Coverage Cream Foundation (SPF 30) as a concealer, but you can use it as a whole foundation too. It is wonderful. and since it's creamy it is non-drying. Just make sure you set it with either a setting powder (think Mineral Veil by Bare Minerals) or just a normal pressed powder.

Just don't put anything on with a pink undertone. You want YELLOW undertones in all of your products. That way, it will cancel out the redness from the rosacea!

I had to share, Urban Decay has a few new color choices for their eyeshadow primer potion...I just bought one, and I have to say it's beyond awesome, I got the "Sin", and instead of a neutral or skin tone, it has a real pretty shimmer to it..so pretty that if you chose, you wouldn't even need to use an eye shadow over it if you don't want to.

Elyse has given some fantastic tips, for everyday makeup use/brands, suggestions, etc, I found this girl that has a great makeup blog http://www.temptalia.com This girl really knows her stuff too, from how to tweeze your brows to nail polish suggestions. Whenever I'm looking for makeup guidance, this is where I turn to.

Also, Sephora's website has so many more choices than their stores. I brought a bottle of primer in with me to our local Sephora, and they had never even heard of the brand.

Thanks for reminding me that I have sin in my drawer! It's a little TOO shimmery for every day for me, but the normal PP works fine. :) I need to pull sin out to look just a TAD more jazzy in the parks!

It does cover well if you want to use it in a pinch under other eyeshadow, and the shimmer doesn't show through. I just wish the bottles had the wand like the old samples did, though I think I saw some travel size ones on Urbandecay.com

Definatelly too shimmery for everyday use, but wonderful for special occasions...or if you're like me and want to look "Princessy" at the parks. LOL You'd really laugh knowing I'm 52. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I was at the MK with a friend one day and was DYING for a hair clip because it was so hot outside. My friend was teasing me about buying a sparkly mickey clip. I told a little girl, who was watching our interaction "When your at Disney, you can be a princess at any age." My friend laughed, but the little girl looked at me like "Uh, I don't think so!"

enjoying your PTR giving me some ideas on what I need to bring in September! Thanks!

And LOVE your name ;)

Thanks for the great tips! I love seeing what other ladies are bringing along with them, especially the clothes!

First of all, I would like to thank everyone who's contributed to the tips and gave me wonderful comments on my PTR! :goodvibes

I only have 19 days until my trip! When did that happen?!?!? Feels like time is speeding up as I get closer (mainly, because I am Summer Break!).

I want to talk about the eye primer I'm taking to the park. I mentioned before that I love Urban Decay's Primer Potion. However, I don't have a good travel size of that (Urban Decay makes them, but I don't want to spend $ on a new one).

What I do have is a trial size of this which is WONDERFUL for Disney!

Stila Prime Pot in Caramel ($20)
DSCF1256.jpg

What's great about this is that it does double duty: prime and add a color. Eyelids can tend to be yellow or blue based on your coloring, and you want to cancel out that color. This is great to just wear by itself into the parks. Good stuff!

This is available at Sephora http://www.sephora.com/prime-pot-P279705?skuId=1312461 and at Ulta Beauty.

I also wanted to point our a great face moisturizer. I love the brand Perricone MD. This moisturizer is wonderful, great for sensitive skin, and perfect under a face primer.

This is VERY expensive in a full size jar ($69). I actually got this as a deluxe sample in a QVC Test Tube sampler pack. But if you can get fun things like this to take on your trip to feel luxurious!

I would like to introduce you to the most wonderful invention since sliced bread: The Naked Palettes from Urban Decay!

If you want the most versatile, wearable, and beautiful palettes of all time, you need to buy one (or both) of these babies! I have them both and ADORE them.

Naked & Naked2 Faces
DSCF1257.jpg

The color on the covers shows the basis of the palette. Naked is a brown based palette, great for bronzer eye looks (but also have this beautiful steel gray blue color)!

Naked2 is more gray based (the color of the palette itself shows you that). It also have paler base colors (it has an almost white color) and ends with a black color).

I am most likely going to bring Naked2 Palette. I want this black for sure. The black is great for packing on top of your liquid liner to make it matte and stay all day!

These are my favorite eye shadow palettes of all time.

Just be careful how you back them. Make sure you wrap them in something (like a scarf or socks) and then pack them between soft things (like clothes).

I know some of you may be thinking I am INSANE to bring these to Disney because of their cost and the possibility of their breaking, but I just love them so much, I would just buy another if it broke!

Hi again, everyone! I'm actually really excited that I've been able to keep up with this PTR. I feel like a lot of people start them and then run out of stream! I have to get this done before my trip!

I bought about $200 worth of online shopping for new clothes. Even though I was fully prepared to return anything that didn't fit well, I ended up keeping everything I ordered!

I wear a size 14, so most of the clothing were ordered in a 1X or a 14/16. I am also only 5'3" so it can be tough to find clothes that aren't super long.

I bought the following items from Old Navy and Eddie Bauer.

I love cream eyeshadows! They give you a beautiful metallic look without needing any shimmer or glitter. However, cream shadows are NOTORIOUS for creasing and just sliding right off your face!

If you have a good cream shadow, it can last all day as well!

Mally Beauty (available on QVC.com) has a wonderful eyeshadow cream stick! I will be taking this to Disney to give a pop of color on the eye when I want it! Plus, I can set this cream shadow with a little shadow from my Urban Decay palette.

DSCF1264.jpg

This is a beautiful brown color with a hint of gray in it to make it nice and smokey. This is definitely long wearing an does not crease.

It is also great because it comes in this nice stick that you can draw on your eyelid and then smudge around with a brush or your finger. You have about 30 seconds to move the product before it's set for the day.

Now this is not the BEST cream shadow of all time. The best cream shadow in all the land is by Benefit.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner

Every girl needs to own this in Skinny Jeans! However, it comes in a jar so it requires a little more skill to apply. But OMG this is gorgeous! It never creases, lasts all day. What more can you ask for?

I've talked about all kinds of make-up for Disney. One thing I haven't mentioned yet is face bronzers!

Now I already mentioned that I will be using St. Tropez sunless tanning mousse to get an all over faux tan. However, I like to contour my face with a bronzer to add dimension to the face.

I have two good options for your for bronzers that I like. The first one is cheaper and the second one is more expensive.

Rimmel makes a nice bronzer that is well priced. Rimmel London is sold at places like Target and CVS. This bronzer is also MATTE Which I love because I don't prefer a glittery bronzer.

A more high end option is from MAC. MAC puts out a lot of limited edition collections and colors. Their latest collection called Hey Sailor came with new bronzers that ROCK.

Buy this is you want a wonderfully smooth, matte, long-lasting bronzer, buy this before it's gone!

You can buy that from MAC Cosmetics: http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/shaded/8871/22045/New-Collections/Hey-Sailor-Bronzing/Face/Hey-Sailor-Pro-Longwear-Bronzing-Powder/index.tmpl

Happy bronzing!

Cute clothes! You got some great stuff for only $200. :thumbsup2

I love the look of the Naked palettes (I'm a sucker for beautiful packaging), but I just can't bring myself to pay $50 for them.

Thanks for the bronzer recs, too. Now that summer is here, I need to add one of those to my collection.

First, I have to start out and say: 17 Days until my trip! :cheer2:

Second, I would like to once again thank everyone who have commented to me, viewed my PTR, and contributed to the conversation here. This has been so much for me to share my wacky plans to look pretty at Disney! :rotfl:

I actually am winding down the things I have to share, beauty products wise. I have some things I have purchased since I began this trip report which I may take pictures of if I have time.

But first, I got my make-up done today at a special event at my local MAC Cosmetics store. Take a look:

I don't look happy in this picture, but I loved getting my make-up done and learning about new products!

On to the lippys...

For long wearing color in the parks, I recommend Maybelline SuperStay 10HR Gloss Stain.

Maybelline SuperStay 10HR Gloss Stain

Maybelline Gloss Stain applicator and color (I think this is Fuchsia color)

Check out other colors here: http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=394543&catid=183585&cmbProdBrandFilter=47047&aid=338666&aparam=394543

Why do I love this? Well, stains and long wear lipsticks can be so DRYING on the lips. For this reason, I hate them. I find that throughout the day they become patchy as well (where the color has rubbed off in some areas of your lips but not in others, especially if you don't exfoliate your lips before you apply). Plus, you usually have to keep applying a balm they give you just to keep it looking nice.

This is all in one step and lasts a long time. Does it last 10 hours? I don't think so. Maybe 5-6 is a better number. And also, the glossy part will go away first and you'll be left with more a stain, which is still better than that dry lipstick look! This product ROCKS! I bought two colors (the pink and the fuchsia) and I intend to wear them all around Disney!

Let's say you want something with just a hint of color AND an SPF to protect your lips from the sun?

Go for Loreal ColorRiche Balm with SPF 15

This is a wonderful, sheer color that you can reapply whenever you want some moisture and a hint of color. Love!

What if you want NO color in your balm but you want some SPF and moisture? One of my favorite balms is by Fresh.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in SPF 15

These are $22.50 at Sephora (buy here http://www.sephora.com/sugar-lip-treatment-spf-15-P57002?skuId=683847)

You can get these in all kinds of kits to get a better value. This also comes in colors that are buildable (like the Loreal Balm) and they are GORGEOUS! I have the Rose, Plum, and Passion.

No sad, dry lips for me in Disney! I will be bringing all 3 of these lippy products to my Disney World Trip!

13 Days until Disney!

A few weeks back, I found a wonderful tip online about how to stay hydrated in the parks. Bringing water bottles is fine, but they are bulky, can be heavy when full, and once they are empty they take up way too much space!

On the Disney Tips board, I learned about the "anti" water bottle. I picked two of these up from Eddie Bauer:

419Kl0Hf5L_AA300_.jpg

Link: Buy here
As you can see, they roll up and flatten out when they get empty. Even more cool, it can be rolled up and into the D-ring that comes attached on the side. This makes it super easy to bring around the parks!

I plan to bring this empty into the park (rolled up). Then, if I ever get a drink I can fill up the bottle.

Now I will say this, I spent quite a bit on these (around $20 for two). Then I went into my local CVS, and I saw these on an end cap for about $3 each! They weren't Vapur brand and I can't vouch for the quality, but they are definitely cheaper!

This Friday, I enter my online check-in window for my Disney vacation!

This is so exciting, I can't take it!

When I think about online check-in, I think about how much I love Port Orleans: French Quarter!

This will be my 3rd time staying at this resort in a row! I love it for a lot of reasons. First of all, the price is fabulous for the quality of the resort. Deluxe resort are wonderful, but it's not a viable option for someone like me on a budget!

Second, I like how quiet it is! I think the themeing isn't too exciting for small children. I mean, the clown masks on the ceiling of Sassagoula Floatworks can be pretty frightening! Since I have spent my last few trips going with fellow adults, I like that quiet that comes with not a lot of kids.

Third, I love the boats to DTD! DTD is a lot of fun, especially if you are an adults-only trip. I love the lively nighttime streets and entertainment.

The resort if beautiful, the pool theme rocks, and the I love the New Orleans theme!

Oh, and how could I forget: BEIGNETS! Yummy!

And to add to my inspiration, here are a few fashion outfits themed around Port Orleans!

Elyse, I am a lip products junkie. My favorites are good ol' Cherry ChapStick, Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers and MAC Lipglass, but I can't resist trying now ones ... and now I can't wait to try the ones you posted about. I'm especially looking forward to trying the stain gloss!

I love POFQ, too, and I'm forever pinning the resort outfits on Pinterest. All of the Disney ones are fun.

Cool water bottles!
