A Girly-Girl's Guide to Planning for WDW. June 2012 PTR! 6/24-DISNEYBOUND/Last Post

I absolutely love this thread! The Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes are the best! I always stock up on those, even the night time ones are great. My skin always feels so soft and clean.. even better than a foaming face wash!

Your trip is very close! French Quarter is my favorite resort and I cannot wait to be back there in September. There is nothing like that feeling of just receiving your Mickey Mail!! Have a wonderful time!

This Friday, I enter my online check-in window for my Disney vacation!

This is so exciting, I can't take it!

When I think about online check-in, I think about how much I love Port Orleans: French Quarter!

This will be my 3rd time staying at this resort in a row! I love it for a lot of reasons. First of all, the price is fabulous for the quality of the resort. Deluxe resort are wonderful, but it's not a viable option for someone like me on a budget!

Second, I like how quiet it is! I think the themeing isn't too exciting for small children. I mean, the clown masks on the ceiling of Sassagoula Floatworks can be pretty frightening! Since I have spent my last few trips going with fellow adults, I like that quiet that comes with not a lot of kids.

Third, I love the boats to DTD! DTD is a lot of fun, especially if you are an adults-only trip. I love the lively nighttime streets and entertainment.

The resort if beautiful, the pool theme rocks, and the I love the New Orleans theme!

Oh, and how could I forget: BEIGNETS! Yummy!

And to add to my inspiration, here are a few fashion outfits themed around Port Orleans!

The Neutrogena wipes are my favorite (and I have tried them all!). I buy them from Costco (or Sam's Club) and you get them at a DEEP discount. Plus you get travel packs as well in the set!

I love the shoes in the bottom picture, where did you get them?

Scrappy_Tink: I cannot take any credit for those outfits! They were produced by the wonderfully talented Leslie Kay who creates a tumblr called Disney Bound (fashion outfits inspired by Disney).

Here's a link: http://disneybound.tumblr.com/

I think that look is too old to know where she found those shoes. For her most recent looks, she links all of the products but not that one. Sorry! :guilty:

Elyse, I am a lip products junkie. My favorites are good ol' Cherry ChapStick, Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers and MAC Lipglass, but I can't resist trying now ones ... and now I can't wait to try the ones you posted about. I'm especially looking forward to trying the stain gloss!

I love POFQ, too, and I'm forever pinning the resort outfits on Pinterest. All of the Disney ones are fun.

Cool water bottles!

Elleshoodat: I am such a lip product junkie too! MAC Lipglass, shut the front door those are awesome! I have waaaay too many!

Have you ever tried the new lipglosses and lipsticks by the brand called Bite available at Sephora? That brand is SO awesome. I tried them at the store and fell in love!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day weekend! Today is Monday the 18th. This means that ONE WEEK FROM TODAY, I will be INSIDE Disney World!

Happy Dance!

:yay::yay::dance3::yay::yay:

However, this week is also my summer school gig (teaching summer school that is). Monday-Thursday of this week, I have to teach a 10 hour remediation class.

This is what I looked like this morning, NOT excited to be up this early when I'm on summer break!

Too early to be going to work face!

Anyways, after a few hours with students, I felt my throat was a little scratchy! Are you kidding me??

LUCKILY, I was prepared. I rushed over to buy a bottle of water and dumped in a packet of this:

Emergen-C
300.jpg

You have to pour it in slowly and cap it and shake every once in a while as you pour because this stuff is foamy as you pour it in!

Give me that vitamin C!
2012-06-18122339.jpg

Now the only reason I had Emergen-C on hand (I usually only have it in the winter) is because of my preparation for my Disney Trip!

Airplane Prep!

Before I Get on an airplane, I ALWAYS take some of sort of immune system booster. Emergen-C is good because you can dump it into a water bottle (slowly, remember!) and then drink it on/before the flight. Airbourne is a good one, but sometimes those dissolvable pills don't fit in your water bottle (plus I HATE the flavor of Airbourne).

I do this because there are TONS of germs in the air on an airplane and it just circulates the entire flight! No air in or our so everyone is breathing the same germs all flight! Talk about a way to get sick before you flight!

So I use an immune booster to help fend off the viruses and germs so if I do get a bug, it might not make me sick or just a mild cold! Also, I wipe down my tray table, handlebars, and seatbelt with ANTIBACTERIAL wipes. Then I use one on my hands.

I use antibacterials wipes because they are easier to deal with than trying to get through the gels/liquids.

I also always wear shoes with some sort of sock of bootie in the airport. NEVER GO BAREFOOT IN THE AIRPORT when they make you take off your shoes. The ground is COVERED in viruses that could give you athletes foot, other foot fungi or worse: WARTS.

It's like needing to wear shower shoes in a public shower: those floors just breed the viruses until they are stripped down at night. GROSS!

Then I take the socks off when I get to my destination!

So when you get ready for your flight, make sure you have Emergen-c, antibacterial wipes, and socks/booties for your feet through security.

Another tip: buy or bring gum because they don't sell come at the Orlando Airport (MCO) or in Disney World! My ears pop like crazy so I definitely will be buying that once I get through security!

I'm so excited I can barely stand it! I have a few more things to update so I'll post soon! My PTR is almost over because my trip is almost here!

Im absolutly LOVING your pre-trip report! Too bad I seen it a bit late!! :lmao: I am taking your advice about the airplane and airport. i never thought of those things!! Thanks, girl! I can't wait to read more!

Wow! I am so happy to help and share any knowledge I might have. Maybe my beauty product addiction will come to some good use other than draining my wallet. :thumbsup2

My Touring Plans

Hi everyone! So in lieu of doing any "beauty" related posts today, I thought that I might share my touring plans for Disney.

Again, I am going with my best friend from college. We are both 27. No kids, no husbands, just the two of us. So our touring plans might not be great for families, etc. However, if you are planning "adult" days at Disney or are going on a solo/couple trip, these plans might be helpful.

I use Touring Plans.com to make personalized plans for each day. I stick with the tried and true touring method for summer: RD, mid-day break, come back evenings.

6/25 Day 1: Arrival/DTD
Our Airtran flight will arrive around 10:30. I am assuming I will probably get to our resort around 12-1pm. We are using DME and are staying at the POFQ. I did online check-in already. Let's hope my room's ready! I prefer building 3 at POFQ (close to everything, including the dock that take us to DTD!)

We will (hopefully) unpack and then head over to Riverside to each lunch (we like their foodcourt a lot, though we eat at the POFQ one too!). I like the walk over to Riverside and it's so nice to see the sites and take in your resort.

After maybe a dip in the pool, we will take a boat down to DTD. Here, we will shop, maybe get some Ghiridelli. My friend is super excited about babycakes (she's a big cupcake fan and loved the cupcake shows on HGTV). I personally don't see the point in a vegan, gluten-free cupcake  but to each his own I guess.

I want to do the balloon ride around DTD. Then we will head back to our resort and tuck ourselves in for a day at...

6/26 Day 2: Epcot
After breakfast (Akershus before park opening), we will hit the following rides (I will mention any snacks/alcoholic drinks we plan to get around the world):
  • Sum of all Thrills (Never done before, excited)
  • Ellen ride
  • Mexico (Margaritas!)
  • Norway (including Maelstrom) (School bread!)
  • American Adventure (including Voices of Liberty)

Then we will eat lunch at Les Chefs de France (LOVE that place!, I don't care what anyone says!) I've never seen Remy so I'm stoked!

We will then leave the park (out the International Gateway) and head over the the Boardwalk Bakery for cupcakes! Then take a bus back to POFQ for a nap/swim.

We're actually going to go back to Epcot that day to take advantage of EMH. We will hit the following attractions (and have dinner at Via Napoli in there):
  • Morocco
  • Japan
  • Italy (wine, caramel shop)
  • Germany
  • China
  • France (crepes/bakery/Grey Goose Slush)
  • Canada
  • UK
  • Illuminations
  • Club Cool (Beverly!)
  • Spaceship Earth
  • Seas with Nemo
  • Captain EO
  • Soarin at the end of the nigt like crazy!

At the end of the day, we will go back to POFQ and sleep!

6/27 Day 3: Animal Kingdom
-We will arrive for EMH-M at 8am. Hit the following attractions:
  • Expedition Everest x2 or 3 if possible
  • DINOSAUR
  • Primeval Whirl
  • Kali River Rapids
  • Tough to be a Bug
  • Festival of the Lion King
  • Finding Nemo The Musical
  • See the Gorillas and Tigers (Trails and Treks, etc.)
  • Kiliminjaro Safaris
  • Flights of Wonder
  • Jungle Parade

In there, we will eat lunch at Yak & Yeti. We will leave the park around 6 or so and head back to POFQ. We plan to take a rest and then make sure we dressed appropriately for our signature meal at Citricos. We will take a bus to MK and ride the monorail to GF. After Citricos, we will head back to POFQ to sleep!

6/28 Day 4: Hollywood Studios
We will get up for RD (breakfast at the resort). Hit the following rides:
  • TSM (x2 if possible)
  • Rock N Roller Coaster
  • Tower of Terror
  • Great Movie Ride
  • Beauty and Beast on Stage
  • Light, Motors, Action! Stunt Show
  • Voyage of the Little Mermaid
  • The Magic of Disney Animation
  • Star Tours
  • Pixar Pals parade
  • Indiana Jones Show
  • Muppet 3D
  • Walt Disney: One Man's Dream (a must do for me, I cry at the end of the video! I love Walt, a hero of mine)
  • Studio Backlot Tour
  • Fantasmic!

We will have lunch at Sci-Fi Dine in Theater in the middle of that, and then
have 50s Prime Time Cafe for dinner.

Continued next post!

My Touring Plans (cont.)

Day 5 6/29: Magic Kingdom
We will head over to MK and have breakfast at the Crystal Palace (before the park opens of course!). After breakfast, we will head over the following attractions:
  • Peter's Pan Flight
  • Space Mountain
  • Mickey's Phiharmagic
  • Dream-Along with Mikey show

Then we are going to take a break around lunchtime. We will head over the monorail and hop over the the Contemporary. There, we will have have lunch at Contempo Cafe (a first for us!) and try the cupcakes. Then we will head back to MK and take a bus back to POFQ. There, we will have a nap/swim until about 7 in the evening.

Back to MK on a bus. Magic Kingdom has EMH until 2am this night, so we plan to hit lots of rides! We will eat dinner at Tony's Town Square and hope we can get a patio seat to watch the Electric Street Parade. Then we will hit the following attractions:

  • Monster's Inc Laugh Floor
  • Wishes fireworks
  • Hall of the Presidents
  • The Haunted Mansion
  • it's a small world
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Enchanted Tiki Room
  • PoC
  • Splash Mountain x2
  • Big Thunder x2
  • Winnie the Pooh
  • Buzz Lightyear

We will then head out of the park and time for sleep!

6/30 Day 6: Magic Kingdom Day 2
Since the Magic Kingdom is our favorite park, we will head back to MK on our last full day at WDW. We will have a late start (we will have been out until 2am the night before!) this morning. First we will hop on a bus over to MK. Then we will get on the monorail over the Poly for breakfast at Kona Cafe around 9:30.

Then we will head back to MK and take in more of our favorite rides. This is when we will make a point to see the 3:00 parade. We will leave the park around 7 and head back to POFQ. We will then hop on a boat over to DTD and eat our final meal at Wolfgang Puck's Cafe (a favorite of mine!). We will shop and eat snacks as well.

7/1 Day 7: Hollywood Studios/Departure
Sadly, this will be our last day at WDW! :sad1:

However, Airtran managed to chance our nonstop flight back to Ohio so late in the day (around 7pm at night), that we realized we could get an extra day out of our trip!

Our plan is to pack all of our stuff up from the room and check-out. We will leave our bags at the front desk and head over the Hollywood studios for the morning/afternoon.

We will ride some our favorites and enjoy a few cupcakes from Starring Rolls!

Lastly, we will head back to POFQ and ride the DME back to MCO to head home! It will be sad, but we will be happy (and exhausted) from an amazing trip to WDW! :goodvibes

Four days until my trip? :scared1: Whhaaaat?? I'm so excited!

OMG! It is 2am on Sunday. In a little over 24 hours, I will be on a plane going to Disney World!!!

Right now I am sitting, watching Boy Meets World on DVD and letting my St. Tropez bronze-job sink in. This is my second application in hopes that the tan will last most of the trip!

When I wake up, I'll rinse it off, and have a beautiful glow! :thumbsup2

Since I will be busy tomorrow getting ready (my trip-mate is coming into town in the afternoon), I have to wrap up and say my adieus for the PTR.

 Thank you for reading!!

I plan to write a dining report. So if you're interested, be on the lookout for that on the dining board!

Lots of love and pixie dust! -Shannon

Have a safe trip, and enjoy yourself! Debby is wreaking havoc on the area right now, but she should clear out by Tuesday.

Have a magical trip! :wizard:

My luggage isn't complete without one of these stashed in!

DSCF1214.jpg

This was purchased at Dick's Sporting Goods. The packaging here says $9.99, and I'm pretty sure that's what I bought.

One thing must be said: It's worth every penny!

Anywhere you have the potential to chafe (skin-to-skin, skin-to-fabric), just roll this on like deodorant. It will prevent the kind of rashes, blisters, and hot spots that can RUIN a trip.

I am unfortunately not blessed with the kind of thighs that have a space between them. As a result, they tend to rub together in certain clothing. If this happens, it can literally make it impossible to tour Disney (pain with every step).

I also know that a lot of women find that chafing can occur under the bust line. You can also use this to keep any rubbing in the bust area.

Body glide is a miracle. It goes on clear and has no pilling, odor, or transfer. WONDERFUL stuff.

How great is that?

Talk to me: Do you use/love/swear by BodyGlide?

This is one of the best threads I've found on DISboards. I'm just sorry that I found it after I returned from my latest WDW trip.

My last post went through without my finishing it. Sorry.

I am writing about Body Glide. I will definitely buy it for my next trip. I was wondering, though, has anyone tried similar products from Gold Bond or Lanacane? Those are brands that I know I can find locally. I will have to search for Body Glide since I don't have a Dick's Sporting goods in my area.
