Also some women turn into Bridezillas at the mere whiff of a wedding, I think that scares a lot of men! :scared1:

i could not have said it better myself, but also planning a wedding when your not getting married = SCARY:lmao:

Maybe it's healthy release so they don't become Bridezilla?

We might need some more comprehensive dreaming.

i am just loving how my own DBF is telling me how he'd like MY dream wedding dress to look! RFLOL RFLOL LOL...i am totally loving this! i don't have to do any of the work! :) im just kidding my DBF! :)

While it seems like all fun and games planning a wedding, the reality is a completely different matter. Bear in mind that if you have a multi-tone dress the bridemaids dresses have to be in a harmonizing colour, and that means if you have pink accents on the dress that the grooms party would have to be in pink, peach or horrors purple! To top this off the harmonizing colour will infiltrate the entire wedding theme, including invitations, cake, and many other details that you don't realize. Found this out with peach accents on the dress that amounted to the entire wedding theme to be in a light purple. Do you really want to do this to your intended hubby to be??? I had the big, all the frills wedding 9 1/2 years ago to please DH traditional parents (even though I'm anything but traditional). I can tell you first hand how stressful it is to plan a medium sized wedding. and it's alot easier to buy a nice dress under $1000USD (look at the clearance racks at the bridal shops for last seasons bargains), then take off to Las Vegas, tie the knot there, then have a big party for your friends afterwards. Alot less stress and alot more fun if you ask me. And yes we are going to be having our 10th anniversary next year.

thanks belledozer... matt and i agreed on the one solid color--navy blue(i think):cloud9:. and we are going with renting a dress..jenn my friend is a wedding planner and she said its better then to buy a dress that will just sit in the closet..to some people this thread may be a way to plan out a dream, but not for some of us.. some of us are planning now becuase its going to take a while anyway!:)

Don't worry Bella, I'm the same way. I just got sucked in last night, b/c no one was at the office and I had nothing to do. Dress and locations are all I've got.

Agreed on the dress, I am scared of marriage to be honest!! :rotfl:

I tell most of my brides not to start picking dresses until they know the locations of the ceremony. Are you going to want to wear a ballgown on the beach? maybe you should start looking at venues.

I also agree with belledozer when you get into colors and how they have to coordinate. What color you pick says a lot. Even if it is navy blue are you ging to want navy blue everywhere? Then you have to find other colors that match. So much work, but the end result is beautiful.

I think that renting a dress is a great idea, or even better yet, check out some of the department stores that have catalogue shopping, as sometimes they have nice simple dresses for alot cheaper than what you can get at a bridal salon. Also don't be afraid to think outside the box when it comes to looking at independant suppliers for bridal items. I saved at least $800CDN by finding a independant florist, letting her know what I wanted, and basically gave her full creative control over my floral bouquets, and she really came through for me with a stunning wedding bouqet, corsages etc. So if you do your research, you can save some major money this way if you know what you are doing.

I don't really agree with this, my BFF wanted purple, her DFi didn't (they guys whined about wearing purple lol) so she went with purple for her girls and navy blue for the guys, it turned out really nice. But imagine the dismay of all the groomsmen when my DBF showed up to the wedding wearing a gorgeous shade of purple, he looked so good and our photos (the girls wore purple too) came out really good. :) Honestly, it's my opinion that the BRIDE should get to chose the colors and the guys (and gals) in the wedding party should shut up and deal with it. lol But this doesn't really apply since Sara & Matt already said Navy Blue would work. :) You can use different shades of blue as accents or even colors like yellows or greens, these all coordinate great with navy blue and will look nice in flower arrangements or bouquets. :)

Sara I think that dress looks great and keep in mind that straps can be added to most dresses like these. Maybe not ones with the corset style lacing in back but then again those can be tightened enough to not worry about them falling off. :) I really like that second one you posted, very pretty. :)

My BFF found her dress before she found the venue but she already knew where she wanted it so maybe it didn't matter. :) She didn't actually buy the dress until after the venue was booked but she found it. It was a beautiful dress, all white with beading on the bodice, pickups on the tulle skirt and had the corset laced bodice as well. She really looked like a Princess, I'm sure Sara will too. :)

thanks pwings! your such a pal!!!! thanks chicka!!

yes i have also read that colors can be mixed an matched, i think its the opinion of the bride and the groom. i have seen wedding photos were the brides maid were in different colors, 2 color that went together like brown and lime green or maroon and yellow or whateve you get the point...

and navy blue and green look darn fine with each other!!

ohh pwings peach and purple.. i never thought of that for your wedding...oh wait we all ready decided.. light and dark purple shades...

pwings, but she knew what venue she wanted. You can find your dress ahead of time but you should also think about the venue and other aspects of the day.

yup, shades of purples for mine. :) :)
I think navy blue and green would look, depending on the shade of green. :)

right, that's what I said, she knew where she wanted the ceremony before we went dress shopping, she just hadn't booked the venue yet. So she already had an idea in mind, and in her case she actually changed her date to get the venue she wanted, she wanted it on 10-4-09 but it was booked so she changed it to 10-3-09 instead. You have to understand that these things can and will happen and you have to be flexible when you run into a road block of some kind.

I just remembered this from a tv show- navy is a total neutral color, so you could put any color with it if you want. :bride:

Pretty much, since Navy is such a dark color (it's almost black in some light) you can definitely pair it with a ton of others colors.

.. speaking of colors. I was looking at the gorgeous sunflower bouquet that my DBF sent today.. and I was just thinking that sunflower yellow and navy blue ! YES!! its perfect!! I want sunflowers as the main flowers in my bouquet ..and I love blue and yellow like that together…

We were thinking of sending sunflowers instead of the others, lucky we didn't!!!

I think sunflowers could be intergrated in some ways but are too horizontal aligned to be a bouquet. Perhaps baby ones.
