A Gem of a trip-quality, clarity, color and "Cut that out!" completed 8/4

"Of course I can be flexible" I told him. I had planned to be flexible. It was written into my schedule. I am just fine being flexible as long as I plan for it. Of course he thinks I was being spontaneous. That I have a problem with.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: That would be me too. Of course that is the reason I love TGM so much. It enables me to plan for flexibility!

I need to schedule flex time also. Sounds like a good day minus the heat. AK is just too big, but still is my fav. park. I love that picture also! Adorable!

You have a beautiful family. I'm having a great time reading your report.:thumbsup2

Welcome lazydoxy66!

Feeling really behind in my Disney preparations. I still haven't visited my TA to pick up my magic express stuff.

I picked up Nanny's color printer when I picked up DS9 from camp today. I'm hoping to get my t-shirts and mousekeeping envelopes printed.

I browsed through Chapter's today and looked through the 2008 unofficial guide. I looked specifically for the new Disney Studio's toy story game but I never found any mention of it. I figure we need to hit it first thing as well as fast pass it. My kids love the buzz lightyear ride at MK so I'm sure they will love this one.

On a non disney topic I have completed my outfit for my sister-in-law's wedding Aug 9th. I even picked up some spanx for it. I had meant to start running regularly again but well.... I never made it.

Now I have to write my speach for the wedding. I'm saying "Grace".

Can't get the *%#@@* printer working right now.

:headache:

I guess I'd better seek DH's advice.

"Oh Honey........"

Saturday August 18, 2007

Downtown Disney and Chef Mickey's.

We slept in this morning as agreed to the night before. Poppa knocked on our door around 9am. Cindy took off for a morning swim and perhaps a secret bakery item from the food court with him. The boys were still sleeping. Eventually we all joined them by the pool and we played in the sun until 11:30. I did some laundry again.

Poppatheboysinthepool.jpg

We took the bus to DTD around 11:50. DH wanted to try the Earl of Sandwich which Poppa and I had raved about. The kids did not want to re-visit the Earl so I took the three of them to McDonalds while DH ordered me a tuna melt at the Earl.

McDonaldsatDTD.jpg

Nanny and I wanted to do some serious shopping. The kids wanted to go to the Lego store and Goofy's Candy Factory. So the men took the three kids. It looks like they had fun. Poppa took lots of pictures. All the kids shared the pail you can jam fill with whatever Lego pieces you want. They played with that Lego the rest of the trip in the room. We are so getting more this year. It really was a great deal.

I had wanted DH to get the kids the make your own lightsabers but I guess when DH spotted the price and did the math (three kids means three lightsabers which means $times three) he decided against it. The kids did have some of their own spending money they could have used for this though. In the long run it was better to have the kids playing with Lego in the hotel room as opposed to having lightsaber sword fights. That means I actually have to admit that DH might have made a better choice than I would have. Luckily I only have to admit it to you the readers and not him. :ssst:

Nanny and I hit the shops hard. We both had a long list of requested items or gifts for people back home to fill. It was so great to have some time to shop without the kids with us. We found a really great deal at the find your own pearl jewelry booth. Poppa owns a flower shop. The building and shop has been in our family for three generations. There will not be a fourth. Poppa will be closing the doors after Christmas (we hope). It's really become more of a hobby than a business. But anyhow, Nanny and I were looking for something for the lady who was running the shop while we were all away. She's been working for us for almost 20 years and has become like family to us. She's not really a Disney person. So anything with the mouse was out. She's Portuguese and loves to wear lots of jewelry. We found her a long string of seed pearls that you could wear either triple or double stranded for a great deal. She was thrilled to receive it.

We were running late so I suggested we take a taxi back to the hotel. At the taxi stand there are bushes which are quite thorny between the sidewalk and the road. Nanny attempted to step over one and couldn't quite make it. Perhaps is it was too many parcels or her short legs or a combination of both but all of she and all of her packages fell down into the thornbushes.

I started to get worried because she stayed down. She wasn't moving. She was a living example of that old commercial "I have fallen and I can't get up". Only it wasn't as funny in real life.

I gathered up her packages, and got down on my hands and knees to investigate. I pushed away some of the branches and she managed to crawl forward enough to roll onto the road. The taxi had to move forward which meant that next taxi in line moved forward in anticipation of a client and we had to go through making that one move up too while holding the third one back. The taxi drivers were not pleasant about it and I think they would rather have just run over Nanny. The first taxi took off with another customer. Nanny's legs were torn apart by the thornbushes. She still had some thorns in her when we finally loaded into the back of the cab.

I have to tell you at first when she fell I was embarrassed. Then when she didn't move I got annoyed and finally when she still wasn't moving I started to get scared. Nanny isn't the most physically fit person and I often worry about her health. As far back as I can remember she has always been "round" to put it nicely. I think that is what worried me is the as far back as I can remember she has always been there. I often take her for granted and this episode reminded me how fortunate I am to have her (and Poppa) in my life today. She is a phenomenal grandmother to my kids and is setting the bar really high for me to follow. I know she is not following along but I would like to send a shout out to all the other Moms or Grandmoms reading along to thank you for all the love and support you send your families way. To quote a famous song "Love makes the world go round".

Chef Mickey's and our first monorail ride up next.

I love DTD, esp. the Lego Store! Sounds like you had a great a shopping trip AND a wonderful nanny.

My new Crocs!!!!

Purplepeg-I had my shoes on our mutual floor but then thought I would highlight another flooring in my house.

Been really busy the past few weeks showing some friends around. Recently we stayed at the Skydome Hotel (now called the renaissance but like MGM I just can't call it DS). We had a "room with a view". Coincidently I happen to LOVE that movie but not so much baseball. My favorite part was the 7th inning stretch. Here are a few pictures of our visit there.

We also visited the CN tower. I refrained from going up the tower. I get bad vertigo from years of ear infections due to teaching swimming lessons. So my family and my guests left me.

Somehow I suffered through being left alone to shop downtown Toronto. I even arrived back at the hotel and had to sit in the room alone with a coffee while reading a book. The things I do for my family. It was a hard afternoon to endure.

Here are some picture my DH took.

DH and DS5 ( DD was not too thrilled going up so not too many pics of her)

Here are some pictures of the Toronto Zoo. They have a new exhibit (which costs extra) that you can touch the stingrays. My kids were so peeved with me because I wouldn't let them do it. I kept saying "We're going to SeaWorld and we're petting penguins in two weeks". But we did see some fish.

Zookidslookatfish.jpg

We're off to the Science Centre tomorrow.

Nemo32 I haven't downloaded the pictures from the Royal Ontario Museum yet. I promise to have those up later. I will say that it was more fun for the adults than the kids. DD enjoyed the egyptian section and DS any weapon displays like knifes or swords, all the kids liked the dinosaur bones but the rest was painful to drag the kids around.

Heaven! Fabulous art direction. I love Puccini and I had a crush on Freddy Honeychurch. Italy is on my list of must do's before I go!

Great photos! I hate that glass floor - I am so afraid of heights! Just looking at your photo made me feel sick. The sunset picture was lovely though! And I am okay with no-one touching sting rays! We are off to the ROM next week. Centreville and the AGO are also on the summer list. Hope you are having a great time with your friends!

Looks like you guys are having fun!!! Oh now I wish I orderd the purple and black Crocs. I have the seafoam/grey ones and just got the black/black yesterday. I like them but they aren't "pretty" BUT I ordered them so that they would match with a lot of things on vaca!

You just reminded me that I still haven't called ME with our flight times OOPS!! Got to do that today! You really should use the ME...its so nice leaving your bags at home and not seeing them again until they magically show up in your room!

I got my travel documents too!!! It's like Christmas!!!

Can't wait for the museum pics! We've got a great Egyptian and arms/armor gallery over here.

And YAY for ME tags!! So close! I'm jealous. lol

Love all your pics!

I am going to get crocs for my trip as well, and hopefully they will be as great as everyone says they are.

:welcome: Jenvenza!

I'm sure you will love whatever style crocs you pick out.

You may even end up like Tnkrbelle565 and I and have more than one pair.

Nemo32 here are a couple Museum pics for you. Our visitors took most of them that day but I have a few dinosaur bones.

Alysa, I've never been to the AGO. Isn't that sad? The ROM was pushing their kid themed weekend activities. I wish we had gone on the weekend. You should look into it.

Diamondintheruff thanks for showing me more flooring, I appreciate that:lmao: Loving the tr, sorry to hear about Nanny in the thornbushes. I'm with you about Grandparents, we have great parents and grandparents for our kids, always there to lend a hand and love our kids to pieces. Very happy to have them around. My mom wasn't feeling too good tonight and when their health starts to fade you worry about every little thing. Anyway lets change the subject. I had to share the pic of my girls in their outfits similar to you daughters after BBB.

This was from our Disney Cruise In January this year.

Refresh my memory about what dates you are there. Do we overlap at all?
We're there Aug 9-23.
