We had many discussions over what to wear to the Pirate and Princess Party. The kids wanted to dress up but when they were faced with the heat they wanted to just wear their pirate t-shirts. So dressed in our pirate t-shirts (minus DD6 who was still wearing her white lacy princess embossed dress) we hopped on a 5pm bus to the MK.
We were greeted by a huge banner welcoming us to the P&PP. Here is the picture of us entering with our lootbags.
We got our wristbands, the free strollers (notice I said strollers as in plural. Here is where DS8 enjoyed having one so much that my Mom felt compelled to rent him one the rest of the trip and then the three kids quarreled over who got the single one constantly. However, I digress… back to that night). There weren't too many people arriving yet. It had just finished raining but there were still a fair number of people in MK. I suggested we do the Tomorrow land Transits Authority first. It was a hit with everyone.
We went to Buzz next and DD6 and I rode Space Mountain while the rest played some pirate games at a station set up nearby and started collecting their loot. We waited about 20 minutes to get on the ride. DD6 was in great spirits to ride until we got to the loading area. Then it was like the clamshell scene all over again. The CM's asked if we wanted to exit and DD6 said "Yes" or rather just a terrified scream. I knew that she had been talking about riding Space Mountain for months. I knew that if she didn't ride it she would be made at herself and somehow it would end up my fault. So I told the CM to just load us as fast as she could and the DD6 would be just fine once it got going.
She was in the front and I was right behind her. I held her hands the whole time and she screamed the whole time. She says she won't go on Space Mountain again but she's proud of herself for doing it. I am proud of her too.
Next up was dinner. We danced with Goofy, Chip and Dale in the Tomorrowland Restaurant. I can't remember the name of the place.
Next we went on a bunch of rides in quick succession. The speedway, Pooh, Dumbo and Peter Pan. We waited 5 minutes for Pooh, 16 for Dumbo and 25 for Pan.
Here are our mandatory stationary Pooh pics. Note that there was no lineup here either.
The fireworks started and although they look beautiful in all the pictures with the castle in the background my kids did not enjoy them. They all ran into their strollers with their hands over their ears. They were worried about the noise and all the smoke. We passed by the castle into Frontierland pushing the three of them at top speed and went into the country bear jamboree. It brought back memories for my parents and because it was away from the noise, flashing lights and smoke my kids enjoyed it.
We were ready for our snack credit so my Mom got us all frozen lemonades and held a spot for us to watch the parade while the kids rode Aladdin's Carpet. None of them found any humor in the camel spitting.
We enjoyed the parade until a pirate tried to swipe DD6's frozen lemonade. That was it for her. She was in my lap sobbing the rest of the parade.
I wanted to get us on the Jungle cruise but it wasn't open for the party. So we went to Pirates next. It was a walk on which was great because DS8 was not so sure he wanted to do this one. I had spent some time going through You-tube videos of this one to get him ready. Because we walked on and even ran in some places he never had time to think about it. Before he knew it-he was on it. He sat between my Dad and I. I kept whispering to him reminding him that this was not real and pointing out light fixtures and other machinery as well as giving him advanced notice of what was coming up next. I probably spoiled it for other riders around us (good thing there weren't many others on our boat) but it was exactly what DS8 needed to get through it.
It was after 11pm and much to my dismay the dole whip stand was not open. I would have to wait for another day. We walked past a show going on in front of the castle and took the bus home. We all managed to get seats.
Here is Cindy at the bus stop home. It must have been cooler that night because she is wearing a t-shirt over her dress. She actually isn't angry in this shot-just tired.
Here is DS4 asleep on my shoulder walking to the bus stop. He feel asleep in the stroller.
The three kids feel asleep on the bus ride. The older two woke up enough to walk to our Hotel but DS4 was out for the count. He had been running a fever all day (hence the am meltdown) and I suspected something wasn't quite right. It felt like a long walk to the Jazz building carrying DS4.
It had been a good evening. Although we skipped most of the P&PP activities we hit a lot of rides and were glad we had attended the party.
The following day was another sleep-in morning with a Date-Night for my DH and I. Who by the way, was starting to come around to TGM and admit that I did know what I was talking about with all my itinerary planning. Here is the link
