A food product that was popular when

OMG- that pictures for the McDLT!!! "Keep the hot side hot. Keep the cold side cold." I actually use that line when I teach a Food Safety Course at the local college!!! Awesome!

I don't think it really worked all that well. They still stuck that container under a heat lamp with all the other items. I think the system they have now is much better unless you're picking up stuff for a large group and it's sitting in your car for a half hour. You can literally watch as your order is being prepared, with the hot meats being kept in separate warmers and where the bread and vegetables are kept at room temp.

Still being made. Not sure where you find it though. Breakfast cereal shelf space is such that any new product has to displace another one.

Post used to sell Sugar Crisp, but changed the name to Super Sugar Crisp, and eventually Super Golden Crisp to disassociate it with the negative connotations of sugar. Kellogg's Honey Smacks used to be Sugar Smacks.

tried a search with your link and the closest grocery is over 50 miles away. I looked at amazon, but even there it is a lot and then shipping costs....darn.

I really miss Foremost chocolate milk. I also loved flicks from the 70's, but they don't taste the same now.

Jello pudding pops!! Those things were the BOMB!!

My 19 year old loved those too, she got one everytime we went grocery shopping.

Alot of the old candies can be found at Cracker Barrel, I love Zagnuts and thats the only place I can find them here. I also get dh blackcows, Mallocups, and Sky bars there all the time!

I just miss the ding dongs when they were wrapped in aluminum foil, they tasted so much better back then!

:cloud9: Loved Mallocups!! I used to get them from the candy machine after ice skating lessons :)

I don't know if this was just a Midwestern company or not, but the Omar Man was popular when I was a kid in the '50's. This was a truck that was driven around a route, they sold bread and other bakery goods house to house. The coffee cakes were really good.

Jeno's Pizza Snacks

Planter's Cheese Balls

The Original Propel lemon flavored water (Propel Zero tastes horrible)

And I know they are still made, but I can't find them anywhere, Red Baron Breakfast Scrambles

OMG I loved those. I was just thinking about those the other night. My favorite cereal growing up is no longer for sale anywhere near me, but maybe in other parts of the country.....Alphabits! I sooo miss them. Honeycomb is an adequate substitute but just not quite the same.

We have 3 boxes of alphabits in our cabinet. Kids love them...especially with super why on the box! They are surprisingly low sugar for a kids cereal.

I feel like I should have a pretty long list, but all my mind can come up with is Slimer Juice. Not sure that was the official name, but I remember going through a phase as a kid where that was all I would drink. I use to gross my mom out drinking it. I'd love to try it today and see if it tastes the way I remember it. It was basically neon green fruit punch I think. This was back when juice came in giant tin cans, and it really looked like some kind of toxic chemical, not something you should be drinking.

They sold that around the time Ghostbusters was popular and it was called ectocooler. If was a hi-c flavor.

Celery? Yuck...

Never heard of the Jones Soda Co. special limited-edition Thanksgiving flavors? They included turkey and gravy as well as green bean casserole.

They topped that with their first Christmas 5-pack, which included the turkey and gravy, sweet potatoes, dinner roll, pea-flavored, and antacid. I'm not sure if the latter was more Rolaids, Tums, or the super chalky generic type. They seem to change the flavors every year. I don't think it's supposed to make money for them as they donate the proceeds to charity. It probably keeps their test kitchens active.

there was a place in lower fairview where we'd buy our case of Brookdale Soda

cocoa-cream, celery and birch beer!

My favorite was apple slice or diet apple slice drink it was so good along with jenos used to have mini pizzas that came 12 on a metal tray. They were soooo good and a cheap dinner for my single mom

Some of my favorites growing up...

New York Seltzer

Now 'n Laters in Cherry Cola (I can find other flavors but not that one)

Jolly Rancher Stick in Pink Lemonade (super hard to find)

There was a similar thread & a couple of us remembered an ice cream but couldn't come up with the name...it was like a frosting tube with a star top that you would squeeze the soft serve like ice cream out. Clear cylindrical plastic flexible cone with white top. Anyone remember it?

.

Pretty sure it was called Echo Cooler. Came in juice boxes too! We drank it at lunch till we couldn't stand it any longer. ;)

.....wow, you still HAVE some??? My mom always made that for me when I was a kid - she HATED it, but said that I always loved it.....:scratchin sheesh, gotta be more than 45 years ago....

Well, it's not from 45 years ago :). I just bought it. Junket is still a company. If you can't find it in your local store you can buy it direct. They ship very quickly!
