A few races and food, some theme parks and food, and a cruise...

We went the second day, saw FOUR shows (Shamu, Dolphins, did some other stuff, then hit the Pets show and Sea Lions again). And I got sunburned. 3 applications of sunscreen = burn. For Eamon, 1 application, done *by him*, NO burn.

Grr.

It was fun, but a long LONG day.

And now we're home and sad sad sad-o-rama. Brother and his wife will be breaking ground on a new home soon, and so the next time, or maybe time after that, visit we won't be in the old place. SAdness. New place = amazing awesome fabulous holy-moly look at THAT place, but still, not the old place. Which is the only place DS has ever been to to visit them.

And we're missing their cats, too. Sniffle sniffle. Oh, and them. :)

I'm having a really bad post-trip-depression. Worse than the usual post DISNEY trip depression! It's really strong this time. Guess I miss my brother. We had some amazing talks, really good stuff, and I feel closer to him than I have basically since I left home for college. I also spent some time shopping with my sister in law, which was fabulous.

Hit the treadmill today, it was OK. Wish they had a track, though. Was fun running outside.

Must sleep, tomorrow will be my first day back doing weights!

Oh it's already diminishing. When DH got his inserts, they nearly killed him (with pain) the first full day he wore them, then the second day it was nothing at all.

:thumbsup2 That is right... they kinda have to be "broken in", don't they?

Went to San Diego Seaworld yesterday with my inserts and old shoes (they cut them down a touch extra so they can fit in either size) and it was almost totally great. My shins are questioning the whole thing, but they were questioning everything before as well!

Going again tomorrow, hitting some water rides so we're likely going in flipflops. I love the "buy 1 day get 2" tickets. Could have paid a little more and gotten the rest of the year, but the likelihood of needing that seems low.

Visiting my brother is fun. :)

Sounds like a fun trip!

I envy you being so close to your brother. We decided to make a trip across to the east side where both dh and my family are (except my db..he lives elsewhere) We had not been there in about 3 years. I wish I missed them all as much as you are missing your db. :goodvibes

I'm sorry, Molly. I mean, I'm glad you had such a good trip, but I'm sorry that you are feeling so down right now. I totally understand, it can be really really difficult.

I didn't realize I would feel this way. I think he has aged just enough that he now realizes I'm the family he's got. He thinks some of my choices are silly and even ridiculous. (right back at'cha brother-dear, LOL) but that doesn't seem to matter as much anymore. Our mom's gone and it was just us in the household, and now he's at an age where he is curious about our past. He realizes now that he was far too young to know some stuff, and he's willing to ask.

And hey...beer o'clock. Apart from the weight gain, what's not to like about that? ;)

Thanks. :goodvibes It's easing now. He sent me a picture of his cats playing in a box and that made me smile. And today's our first day of school, so that's fun, too! Right now E is doing his recess, which today is consisting of lifting 2 and 5 pound dumbells, apparently. Earlier he did jumping jacks. It's kind of funny, because the school i went to in 4th grade had early morning calisthenics! Probably not coincidentally, that year was the year I learned the most off all my 1st-12th school years.

Got my shoe inserts/orthotics remolded. And got new-new shoes. Back to stability plus. Remember when I was thinking I could go towards neutral shoes? Oh, those were heady, self-delusional, days....

I have eaten the earth today. Am at the number of flexible Weekly WW points that I try to be at on Sunday night. And it's totally OK. :)

And now I am off to bed. So tired.

25 days.

Brain is racing...what will we bring, exactly, are my plans complete, oh no can't forget the shoes what if I forget the shoes.... What should I wear to run in? I had thought it was the running skirt all the way, but I'm liking this other little outfit I have. Decisions...

Today we got away from all that nonsense and saw a Mariners game. E's first major league game and also his big screen debut. He got on the screen by doing The Robot in front of the camera guy. :)

He also ate a massive slice of pizza, a Field Roast frankfurter (so cool that they have veggie dogs there!), and even a crepe. And 40 oz of water, LOL. He's just never full.

Good day. Expensive day. (his veggie dog and 20 oz of that water were free, but the rest of it was all on me!) Slightly whiny day, but not by me (shocking!). E just didn't get enough sleep, I guess. There's so much to do and see and eat at Safeco Field...it's hard to sit and watch the game! I think we sat for *maybe* 5 innings. Maybe. Oh, and I got to walk on the outskirts of the field while he got to run the bases. Tell me....WHY can't adults run the bases, too?

So now we've been to games at three NW baseball parks, from the teensy weensy baby players (Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in OR) up to the middle (Rainiers) and big leagues. Kinda fun.

Yay for getting new shoes! Just one thing.. it is my understanding that you should never feel the inserts... so if you may want to be mindful of that. If you continue to feel like someone has a knuckle under your arch... it might be a bit too much support for you.

Quoting you again...I had them redo the inserts because the feeling didn't go away. And worse, it was too far back, closer to my heel than my arch. Not good! It seems that they trimmed them too much. They did that so I could still wear my 8s, even though I had willingly bumped myself back up to 8.5s. But that seemed to change things in the shoe and I was slipping on it. So the bump-up was not in the right place!

Thanks for the reminder that I shouldn't feel it, because it helped!

Did I mention we got our Magic Bands? The guys both got blue because they love that color, and I, of course, got Dis green. ;)

Shopping List:

Writing this down here (along with a couple other places) to remind myself to renew our Universal APs this week.

Crocs
Get Robert convinced to buy more clothes in current size.
Take myself shopping so I'm not wearing oversized clothes that droop in the rear halfway through the day.
Make sure E has adequate shirts and shorts.

Trips are SO not budgety! Neither is losing weight (M&R). Neither is growing up (E). The combo of them is frightening!

I hear ya!!! I really need to get some new clothes. It isn't like I have lost a ton or anything...but the afternoon droop is a bit awkward. ;) However, I keep trying to make due because something else always comes up. I thought I would be good for shoes for the ToT... since I purchased a 300 to 500 mile shoe at the end of June. Well... I am not sure they will survive till the race. They were more expensive than the usual kind too. :confused3 I only have just a hair over 200 miles on them (maybe about 230) but I have worn the outer sole down to the mid sole in spots. Maybe I can get by....

Are you excited to do the bands?

Maybe, maybe not. It's neat to be part of testing something; I like being a beta tester. In fact I'd whine and moan a lot less about the Disney websites if they'd sent out an email saying "yay you, you get to be a beta tester for the next umpteen months!" instead of just pretending it's all peachykeen. :)

I really should upload some pictures to my computer, because I took pictures of them etc etc.

Remember to pack your shoes in your carry on... I would be inclined to have them in my checked... but if that were to get lost :scared:

I actually just realized that I should have the carryon packed with all my running stuff! But thanks for the comment because it shows me that it's a normal thought to have. :)

I also have to make sure to give DH the things he'll need for his and DS's flight. While I'll carry all my running gear, the Passporter, etc.

Get the clothes! Have you lost from the TOT training, or has it been a more on purpose thing?

Well THAT's not good about the shoes! That just doesn't seem like it should happen with an expensive pair of shoes.

Augh, new shoes, not good. Left foot is fine, but the smaller right foot is slipping around and is therefore not hitting the insert right. AUGH. Not good not good not good.

On the other hand my "magic mile" was AWESOME tonight. :) Even though I started laughing halfway through because of the twinges of pain being caused by my shoe. I slowed way down and was still fabulous and less ouchy.

Gonna see some shoe experts tomorrow; RRS is just not serving me well, and I don't know why!!! I don't WANT to have to return both of my pairs of shoes, but if I have to I will, darnit.

I would love to see the pictures! Speaking of pictures....shameless plug....I posted house pictures on my thread.

Sorry to hear about your shoes. Something like running shoes should always be comfortable. Well all shoes should be.:rolleyes1 :upsidedow

Robert has shared with me that I'm abnormal because a shoe will feel fabulous for a day or so, and then it feels rotten.

I'm not sure which one of us is abnormal. At the very least, I'm different from him, apparently.

I had a really good day today, despite not thinking it was going to be good. So that was, you know, good. :) I hope tomorrow is similar! Little nervous about the morning race thing, since I don't usually run in the morning. I suppose this is how most of the TOT 10 mile people feel since they run in the morning instead of in the evening!

But today I got a line on a PT who might be able to help with my shoulder and foot stuff on an ongoing basis, and I reconnected with my acupuncturists. Health Fairs at yoga studios are good things. :)

Molly,

Scotty is the same way. He can get a new pair of shoes that feel wonderful for the first few days and then they will hut like the dickens.

I'm so glad there's at least one other person. :)

My feet are NEVER totally happy. Not in any shoe ever created, not barefoot, etc. If I think about my feet I can always find some discomfort in them. So I don't expect miracles with shoes. But I don't want the shoes to make them worse.

I saw some of the pictures the other day, but I'll have to go look at more! I noticed you got rid of the "it better happen" mention, though.

Scotty, is that way more often than not. It amazes me that in running shoes he has wide feet, but in other shoes he doesn't.

The only reason I got rid of that one was because the ticker wasn't working. I much prefer it but it just wouldn't work.

That is odd. I'm a wide no matter what kind of shoe I wear. :)

Sitting here with my 10K shirt (for tomorrow's race) on, with my new headband on. It says "Race Day Strategy: Start off slow. Then back off."

:)

I've never had a race with a timing chip on my shoe! The chips were literally thick stickers on the bib numbers at the 5K this summer. I'm nervous!

Conversation just now:

"I'm nervous for tomorrow!!!!!"

"I'm not, for you. It's 6 miles, you've done WAY more than that. You're the BEST slow runner in the world."

Sometimes that kid makes up for all the other times. :)

I did my 10K! And I did so much better than I imagined I would! And almost all of it felt really good! Even the uphill parts. :)

Just before the start there was a huge thunderclap and it started drizzling on us. Everyone started laughing, because, you know...of course that would happen.

It was called the You Go, Girl race, and while they allowed men to run, they had to wear pink. I've never seen so many men wearing tutus.

My average was under 13 minutes per mile, so that was very exciting to me. And that included walk breaks and three stops to retie my shoes.
