A few races and food, some theme parks and food, and a cruise...

Running outfits seem to be such a weird thing for me. At home... I basically throw something on and go. But for races... I try to figure out something "special" For the phm... I could not decide and brought several options. The day of the race is when I decided...and I ended up going with the tech shirt we were given. :rotfl2: I think this is the first time I am pretty excited for what I am wearing.

But...you bring up a point to all the other "stuff" I normally carry a water bottle... with a pouch in it for fuel. I know I have ran the distance and don't have to have more than one water bottle or too much fuel... but still I feel like I need to "make sure" I have enough for the race. I normally don't run with a belt, but that camera is needed.... really, I need some pictures. Last year I got none from on the course. Then at the phm, my camera did something weird and stopped working. So I need pictures! Question then is do I bring that camera that is tiny and slip it into my shirt or go with the belt.

I am leave for the airport in like 18 hours...so good luck on the race. I can't wait to hear how it goes for you. You are staying longer after the race than I am...so I will wait patiently at home for your recap. :goodvibes

Oh how exciting, Ann! Well dang, I was going to post a running picture of me so you could recognize me just in case we saw each other at the afterparty (not during the race b/c you'll be so far in front of me), but photobucket has temporarily kicked the bucket. :)

I am almost certain it was you that first mentioned simply carrying a water bottle AND trying the sports beans, and I really thank you for both of those suggestions. The water bottle (a camelbak with a pouch thingie on it) and beans have been great, and you've totally saved my hydration and electrolyte balance.

I wish you a fabulous race and a great time beforehand. Jealous that you'll be at the expo before me... Just yesterday I finally FINALLY decided "I want to buy a commemorative pin" but sales had closed. Drat. It says that some of the items will be available at the expo, but I'm guessing they won't be there by 5:30ish on Friday! :)

I am glad my suggestions helped! I know I learned so much that helped me from the disboards. It is nice to give back a bit. :goodvibes

You have a good race too. I do plan to hit the expo first thing once it opens. The RD booth tends to be a bit crazy, but without dh and dd in tow I am hoping to brave the line/crowd to get in. I would be more than happy to see if they have the commemorative pin there for you when/if I am able to get into that booth. Just let me know. I can shoot you a pm here on dis easy enough from the expo. (I have the dis ap) or I can text you if you pm me your number or I can pm you mine and you can check with me to see if I was able to find one. :goodvibes

Oh wow, that would be awesome! If you see one that you can snag for me, I would be very appreciative. :) I have the app, too. Ah, the kindness of dis'ers.

And now I should really order the Half pin, since now I know I'll end up wanting it.

Yay!

Had acupuncture this morning to start addressing this continued shoulder issue I'm having. Thank goodness. Then had a good WW meeting (first official weigh-in for 6 weigh-ins to become Lifetime!), Robert had a chiro appointment, and we took the kidlet to his first proper dance company class. ALL the members were there, not just the Junior members, so he got to take an hour of dance with the other kids and a bunch of teenage girls. Poor thing. ;) After that another hour of jazz rehearsal! Meanwhile I took Robert to get his hair cut and then put him on a bus to head to the airport for a last-minute, 3 day, international work trip. :scared:

(back story...I can't remember why, but R's boss seems to think that he owes us a dinner out, and recently he told R to just take us out somewhere nice and then give him the bill for reimbursement)

I guess R's boss was nervous about my reaction to this trip (as well he should be) and nearly begged Robert to take me out to dinner on the boss's dime before telling me about the trip.

Not sure if I like it or don't like it that the boss is scared of me...

I think I'd shared a link to a Nightmare Before Christmas t-shirt craft a week or so ago...if I did, I'm nearly done with them. I'll share pictures in the next day or so. They are pretty neat if I do say so myself. We'll see how the stitches on their faces go, though...

ETA: did I mention I recently found not one but TWO pictures of me from well before I joined WW, that clearly show me MUCH heavier than I was when I joined WW this time? Holy moly. Painful.

Aaaaaaa-chooo!

uh oh.

Here are some pix of the Jack/Sally shirt project I've been doing. It's not finished yet, though. I didn't make this up. It's from a guest blogger on the undercovertourist website.

Ironed on lips.

Eyes cut from interfacing, about to be ironed onto felt. Once on the felt they were pinned then sewed with craft/embroidery thread onto the wrong side of the shirt. (same stuff happening with both Jack and Sally)

I have this propped on my laptop screen, as you can probably see.

This is the right side of the shirt, with his face sewn on.

And then I carefully cut the fabric away to reveal the felt!

And then I trimmed the felt on the back side. I did the same stuff with Sally. Now I have to add the stitches to their faces, take pictures, upload pictures, share pictures, and voila! I'll be done. :)

But meanwhile, where's my vitamin C and cloves of garlic? Aaaaaaaaaa-chooooo!

Had to cancel a haircut for tomorrow. Sadness. But they wanted too much anyway. This cold (which will be gone in a moment, darnit!) was really just an excuse to not get it cut.

I was just telling DH that my hair might be curly, but my style is SIMPLE. simple simple.

Robert's trip has him in a place where protests are happening and are really going to be in force the day he travels home. They are already trying to block the roads to the airport. This is a problem.

It's not like he can just get stuck there and fly directly to Orlando, because he's on a flight with the kidlet and I'm not!

So he's getting a hotel AT the airport, will travel over there the night before his flight, and stay right there. Whew. That gives him over two full days before their flight leaves Seattle. But just in case I'm going to look up the unaccompanied thing, and, AUGH, E is traveling on a companion fare AUGH....

Well R just has to get home on time, that's all there is to it!

Sounds like R is in a scary country.

I am so picky about my hair I have gotten to the point that I rarely get it cut.

It has its moments of concern, that's for sure! It's one of the countries where you go to the taxi desk at the airport, pay there, and they show you to a bonafide, licensed taxi driver. So you're not scammed. One of those types of countries.

Not South Africa, though...there, the hotel in CapeTown wouldn't let the tourists/businesspeople leave the hotel unless they planned to be back in the daytime, and they would send a car for you when you were coming back. Eek!

Realized that we have more than enough Disney themed shirts for E to wear one every day of WDW, and we even have enough Universal/Marvel (b/c they are still over there at Univ no matter what Disney says) shirts to take him through that portion of our stay. :)

And for the first time in a LONG time I have enough clothes to pack for the trip and still have clothes to wear here at home. That might very well be normal for many traveling Americans, but it wasn't for me. It feels rather odd!

I like your tickers, Michele. I hope you're home then, too!

I cannot imagine your stress level when he goes on some of his business trips.

That's great about your clothes. I am always the one with the smallest wardrobe. I always worry that everyone else has clothes.

Thank you. I felt it was time to add that ticker to my signature now that the tickers are working again. Tomorrow I give the contractor our color choices and pick out our garage door. Fun stuff.

Ooh, garage door! Colors! I'm so happy for you. And I remain super-impressed with your insurance company.

Someday the job will have to change to something else, that's for sure. Hopefully one with a bit higher paycheck-type compensation to make up for the airline miles and free hotel nights he gets now. For now, though, I feel really happy that he gets to think and learn so much for his job, he has found this whole group of niches that he's really good in, and that he's not stuck in a 9-5 rut (I personally would WANT a 9-5 rut, but it's not for him) that would slowly eat away his soul. Hmm, sounds like he has a good job, doesn't it? :)

Side note...Aveda wanted $6 for the less than one ounce tube of my hair gel/goop. Yeah right! I will find another bottle and decant some of my big bottle into it. Not going to be sucked into crazy-expensive travel tubes....

Brain is coming out of its haze. It'll be good to sleep, though. Didn't get quite enough of that last night.

We are so lucky with our insurance, they have been fantastic for the most part. I picked the garage door, it was all pretty basic choices. I also gave him all the choices we made on the paint. Everybody has different paint colors that they want and the only color we will have that goes through out the whole house is the ceiling color.

I think that for R his job has got to be not as boring as one that is in the same place all the time.

I found that if I go to Sally's Beauty Supply they generics and they are much cheaper then the national brands. I use Tea Tree oil shampoo and conditioner that is the clone of the Paul Mitchell product that is 50% less. I am a bargain hunter.

I'll have to check out a Sally then!

After two nights of sleeping when I was supposed to sleep, it didn't work last night. Woke at 4 having the worst dream about walking around in a towel and getting caught in a spiderweb with the maker of said web in it. Augh Augh Augh UGH YUCK.

Woke up sweating and freaking out and patting myself down to make sure nothing was on me.

Couldn't get back to sleep until nearly 8. Awful.

And then I was totally in the sleep zone when Robert called me to tell me he got his 6 hour layover changed to a 2 hour, so he'll be home more than 5 hours earlier. Great, but eek! :)

Anyway, trying to sleep while he was traveling was just impossible this early morning.

:dance3:

Oh not a fun dream at all.

Glad to hear R isn't having the layover like he was. That will make things a little less stressful.

Last minute stuff! Going through the Dis once this morning while I drink my coffee and then I'm closing it down.

Molly, I hope you have a good run! And a great time with your family. I can hardly wait to hear all about it all!

Trying to do this from my phone- did you need the pin? I will be here a bit so let me know

Sorry- I hoped to be able to touch base with you regarding the pin but had to leave for a dinner reservation. The tower pins were almost gone... Maybe they will bring more out? The sticker 10 miler seemed plentiful

Hi Ann! My Internet connection was awful that day so no wonder I didn't connect with you. :). I magically got one of the last 4 pins. Amazing. And by the time I fought the Internet to see if you had PM'd (no signatures on mobile devices) all the other 3 had been taken from the rack. So I just got it. Whew.
