Ok I hope this isn't TO stupid, but, here goes.
I recieved a map from a fellow DISr
Any way (again remember I haven't been there in 7-8 years.) on the map down at the bottom in front of what I think is main gate, are some buildings.
What are they? is this the main gate now?? (directly in front of the trams?) I thought it use to be right infront of the train station?
Also from the hotels accross from maingate, can you get to DTD by just going between the two parks?
Sorry I know this sounds dumb but I hate not knowing where to go or what to do when I have my kids in tow.
Thanks for the help. Same for DCA

The main gate is right in front of the train station - that hasn't changed. Yes, you can get to Downtown Disney by walking "between" the entrances of the two parks. I'm not sure what buildings you're referring to.

Maybe they arent buildings but there is booths or something there. As I look at the map on the bottom of the map are two arrows. One says "Mickey & Friends Tram Route" the other says "Lion King Tram Route" what are the buildings (or whatever they are) Lockers? Bathrooms? something? right there.

My real question about the main gate has been answered Thank you. Now just curious about the ?????????????

I am looking at a DL map now. There are several small buildings at the bottom in the center of the plaza separating DL and DCA that represent the ticket booths. Up above the Monorail loop, but still outside DL, are more buildings. The ones on the left are restrooms and lockers. The ones on the right are stroller rentals and I believe guest services.

If you make a left near the Mickey & Friends Tram route you will walk right into DTD.

Great thanks! I like knowing where things are. I'd hate to waste on minute of my time at DL trying to figure out where I'm supose to go.

Are you looking at the security check tables? I just read that they put the security check so you don't have to go through when you hop from park to park. What a great idea!

I really think the security checks are a very stupid inconvenience for Disney guests. I understand that they were worried in the aftermath of 9/11, but c'mon. Enough is enough already. If somebody wants to do something really bad to a Disney park, these security checks aren't going to prevent them.

DCA is by far the most vulnerable of all Disney parks. It is closest to the streets and many of the attractions can be seen from outside of the park. I just think the time has come AND GONE for these security checkpoints.

The main reason for the security checks isn't to check for weapons or bombs (like the ordinary cms there will be able to do anything about those--I can see it now, "Sir, we don't allow suicide bombers into Disneyland. Please return the bomb to your car."), but to check for alcohol and glass containers. If they were checking for weapons, etc... they'd need metal detectors and a dog sniffing every guest.

This post reminds me of the confusion I had when we took our first trip to DL last fall. We walked from the DLH through DTD, and I kept looking for big signs or something that gave a clue as to the entrance to the park. I thought the Tram station might be it, so we wandered up there. Nope...

So we kept walking...walking...Then I saw the security checkpoint at the end of DTD! Whew! We made it! And the lines weren't even so bad! We got through there, no one asked for tickets. No Mickey, no big signs, just a big plaza. Where is everything??? :confused3

We finally walked far enough we could see the entrance to DCA, and I knew across from that was the entrance to DL. Ahhhhh, there were more lines to get into the actual park. Hallelujah!!! :rotfl2:

That's so funny! It's so hard with me knowing where everything is for so long to picture it from a first time guest point of view!!! I can just imagine what you were thinking!!!!

I think I expected the entrance to the park to be so close to the hotel because people kept describing it as a "short walk." So I was SURE the tram station was it! We just kept walking and walking, seemingly forever!

While we definitely loved the meandering walk through DTD in the evenings, it was definitely a "long walk" after a full day in the park. We are eager to check out the Monorail on our next trip. It wasn't running at all when we were there, so when we're too pooped to enjoy DTD, we can coast on back. :thumbsup2
