A few FairFX questions.

Hello everyone, has anyone used FairFx just for currency, was going to buy dollars off them but I`m not overly confident in Royal mails ability to deliver them to me So are they reliable for just buying dollars,

Or am I better to get the card? if i get the card can anyone load money on to it, eg if its in my name can my DW load money on to it from her bank account? Cause some months i get the dollars and some months she does it, and how long from it is loaded till it shows up on the card, I get my holiday pay on the day we leave so if I loaded the card up at say 0645 would I be able to spend the money as soon as i arrive.

Anyone else any experience with these cards good or bad?

I've never bought dollars so can't comment on that but anyone can top up your card as long as you put the details on the website. I have 3 different cards connected to mine.

It takes a couple of hours for the dollars to show on your card after you've topped up so if you put it on at 6:45am you should be able to see it on the card and spend it before 9am. No later than 10 I'd imagine.

I've had nothing but good things to say about fairfx.

Not ordered currency from them but would imagine it would be fine as they use Royal Mail Special Delivery so guarantee delivery on a certain date.

You can link more than one card to it - DH and I have 3 linked to our 2 cards for topping up.

Again, you should not have any problems topping up the morning you go and using later that day unless your bank delays in making the payment.

I can answer your currency question ,as you have the answers for your other questions.
I have ordered $$ from them on 3 occasions,my orders were accepted before 12noon each day,and my $$ were always here the following day without fail,and they are sent special signed for delvery .
I also cannot fault the fairfx card,will always use them now .
The only thing i would advise is if having a sit down meal pay the balance BEFORE adding your tip,tell the waiter/waitress that you will be paying cash for there tip.Reason is there will be 2 different amounts when the card is swiped twice-causing a shadow transaction,which can take up to 3 days to cancel each other out.Just pay the tip in cash and you won't have any shadow transactions.x.

Thank you all for the replies, we have decided to go for the card instead.
So another question, is there a limit as to how much we can put on the card, and is there a way to check whats left on the card when we are over there.
One other thing, could i use the card with reception th charge things to my room, and is this hard to keep track of?

You'll need to check you balance online I think but it only takes a couple of hours to top it up from the info I've been reading on the sticky thread about it at the top of the UK Dis section. It's a great source of info so if you can access the internet while you are away you should still be able to check your card transactions and add funds.

Right I`m trying to sign up but they said I`m failing their online identity checks, Whats that mean? I have mailed them and they want my passport number, I take it this is normal, they are a reputable company aren`t they?

Yeah that's normal.

I have ordered cash from them and I got it promptly and with no fuss at all. In addition I had a problem (of my own making) with the pin for my card and when I called them the problem was dealt with very quickly and courteously. I haven't actually used the card yet, as I fly out on Sunday, but I can certainly recommend the service that I have had from them so far.
