A few Disneyland Hotel questions!

We are hoping to return to DLP in January/February and want to stay in the Disneyland Hotel this time!!! I've been looking at the reviews on Tripadvisor and have a few questions which I hope someone can answer.
1. What is the gift left for the children in the room?
2. Has anyone done the 'Princess for the Day'? How much is this and what was it like?
3. Is there a kettle, tea, coffee etc in the room?
4. Is there anything else I need to know????

We will soon be embarking on our 5th stay at the DLH so can offer some information. The gift left in the room for the children is usually a soft toy...quite often pluto. Last year however we were left 2 plutos and two large 15th anniversary mugs filled to the brim with sweets. You are also left a dozen pink roses and usually a big bottle of water in ice or wine (if you're lucky). Another added little nice touch is another pink rose in a vase in the bathroom. Not sure what 'princess for a day ' is. There is no kettle or tea/coffee in room but all you have to do is request kettle and they will bring one up. The hotel is so wonderful I don't even know where to start to tell you. It is absolutely stunning and really luxurious!!! IMHO it is so worth it for the wonderful amazing breakfasts, the amazing character interaction, the proximity to the parks, for lying in bed at night with the window open listening to the park music which continues on into the wee hours of the night. There are a lot of little special touches when staying in this hotel and the customer care is exemplary. It is lovely to be able to nip back to your room at any stage and be back to the park again in a flash. Turn down service at night means you come back to your sheets turned down and little chocolate coins on each pillow. One word of warning....once you stay there you won't ever want to stay anywhere else. If you have any other specific questions I will endeavour to assist.

We're staying in January and that description has made me even more excited about going to the DLH. I can't wait to stay there! After 8 years of caravan holidays, I felt in need of a bit of luxury.

Do you have to request for them to leave a toy or do they do it automatically if a child is booked to stay in the room?

Did you stay in a standard room, or was this Castle Club by any chance?

We stayed at this hotel for one night and received none of the 'extras' you mention, actually we weren't made to feel very welcome at all, it took them over 3 hours to get our luggage to the room.

Yes, they happily brought us a kettle, but this was of little use when your tea/coffee stuff is in your case!

As you can sense, I was not very impressed, especially considering the price we paid! I have sent an email of complaint, and a chaser, twice I have been told that they are looking into the situation, but I've yet to receive a proper response

We stayed in the Castle Club 3 times and the first time there wasn't any toy, roses or champagne (only 1 rose in the bathroom). The second time there was a soft Pluto toy for the child under 12 years.
The last time we celebrated our wedding anniversary and did contact the hotel about this. This time we had a room with a view over the Park, we got a bottle of Champagne and a bottle of water and we got a vase with roses.
We stayed a few times in hotel New York and once we got a free upgrade to a lake side room.
I don't think you always get a toy or roses.
I don't know why we got the free upgrade or the toy, I think we were lucky.

We stayed at the Castle Club in Feb with our DD and DS but nothing there was no cuddly toy - from what I've read it's very hit or miss if you get anything.

Hi everyone, it has always been an ordinary room we have stayed in and this is our fifth year and we have always received the soft toy standard without any request for same Now last year we got the 15th anniversary mugs filled with sweets as well. I am assuming the mugs were a one of for the 15th anniversary but who knows. I have to say that my sister also stays in this hotel every year and also receives the roses and soft toys. I am very sorry that a few of you have not received these. If I were you, next time you stay if soft toys are not in the rooms I would mention to staff that you know of people who always received these gifts. I bet they'd be happy to oblige and if not I would like to know the reason why some guests receive 'extras' and some do not!

We did Princess for the day and DD loved it, there are 3 price levels, from memory something like 80/90 euro, 130 euro and 160 euro. We did the mid price and you get a dress, choice of 3 princesses, cindrella, sleeping beauty, belle, wand and crown, and an 8 x 10 photo. They are sat in a lovely room at a dressing table with big mirror etc, hair is done beautifully, they pin curled the whole back of DD's. They then have eye make up blusher and lipstick on and nail varnish. They place the crown on and then photographer takes quite a few shots in front of a backdrop. You are then taken to the shop and can see the photos on a computer and you can chosse which one you want. No hard sell at all to buy more. Photo of the results atached, this is photo taken by DH not official one.We went to inventions that night and semed to be treated extra specially by the waiters all admiring DD and one gave her a rose.

Your DD is gorgeous! Does the princess for a day take place at the DLH? Also, how long does it last? My DD would love it but we also have a DS who we have to think about.

Yes it takes place at the DLH along the corrider from Fantasia bar, it probably took between 30 mins to an hour from memory. You book in the shop and try the dress on for size there and then so it is all ready for your time slot, so this saves time. When it's your turn you go to the shop and they have everything ready, they get into the dress in the changing room in the shop, and escort you to the room. Fairly sure we weren't in the room having hair, make up and photos for more than an hour. You could book your son into the Mickey club if you are staying in the DLH.

The Mickey club is a creche for guests of DLH, although I say creche it is for older children not babies. It is 3 rooms with various activities and games in which has a CM looking after the children, you can either leave them or stay with them. I think it's open 4pm-11pm and you can leave them for a max of 2 hours again working from memory. You have to have book them in, in advance, although we turned up 1 day and they took her as had a space. DD loved it and kept asking to go again.
