A few Disney "trivia" questions for you ....

I didn't see a Disney Trivie area so please excuse me if this is in the wrong forum

We went to Disney's Princesses on ice today and we were talking about going to Disney soon. We ended up with two questions that no one seemed to know ....

How do they make the Dancing ghosts in the ballroom at haunted mansion. I thought they were "projections" of some sort but we weren't sure "how" they worked. Also anyone know the story behind it ?

What color are Belle's eyes. My daughter has two dolls - one with green eyes and one with brown. Which one is correct ?

Belle has brown eyes, for my daughter has seen a commercial where it shows Belle about ten million times! and the cool ghosts were made by computers. Did you know that the Haunted Mansion Ride, Is so much darker then it used to be? And when I'm in darkness, it feels like I can't breathe, and the walls are closing in on me.

The ghosts in the ballroom, and the hitch-hiking ghosts were achieved through an effect called Pepper's Ghost.

There's a sheet of glass that is between yourself and the ballroom scene. Above you, and below you are animatronics that are "performing". They shine light on them which then reflects in the glass. The illusion of them fading in and out is achieved with dimming the light.

And actually, when they initially opened the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland, they didn't take into account the fact that the characters would be a mirror image - meaning things would be reversed. So the ladies are leading the men. I believe this was corrected when they built Walt Disney World's mansion.
