Episode 35- the update in which I forget to take pictures
Alright, first off, I have to apologize for the lack of photos in my last day update. I ended up accidentally leaving both my cameras with baggage services, and truthfully I was sad to be leaving and in no mood to take pictures. I hope that wont deter you readers, and that youll stick with me for the last day
Well, we woke up this last morning with a heavy heart. I knew that this was our last day, and I didnt know exactly when we would be returning. I really hate not having a back-up trip planned. It just seems so final to leave the parks without another trip in the works. Im going to try to never do it again.
Anyway, we spent the morning facing down the most dreaded chore- packing to go home. I am not a typical DISer, in that I do not relish packing. My idea of an ideal vacation would be one where everything you need just magically shows up in the hotel room. I will grudgingly pack to go on vacation, because I have the trip to look forward to, and I like to make sure that every detail is attended to, so well have a wonderful time.
However, I have to be dragged kicking and screaming to pack to go home.

We had a 10 am ADR at Kona, but at 8:30, I was still moving things from one side of the room to the other, not committing them to a suitcase. DH wasnt exactly being helpful, since for some reason packing had become my job on the delegation of responsibilities. As it ended up, I just threw things in the suitcase, squished it down and zipped it up, crossing my fingers that we would not exceed any weight limits.
Another frustrating part of the morning, was when I went to pick up my phone and realized that DH had not plugged it in the night before. He had taken it from me, and told me he was going to plug it in, but he hadnt pushed the plug far enough into the outlet to make the connection, and my phone was dead.
It was another little annoyance, but it added up to me having a very grumpy morning.
The one really bright spot was Orlando Crib Rentals. We had asked them to come at 8:30 am to pick up the crib, so we could head out to make our breakfast ADR, and they were there, right on the dot. They rolled the crib right out of the room and it was so nice to receive that level of service and have one less thing to worry about.
While I was messing with the suitcases, DH fed Everett breakfast, so he was all ready to go. I was worried about him waiting until 10 to eat, afraid that wed have a hungry, cranky toddler. I think it ended up being a good decision, because this time I could focus on eating my own food, and not worry about trying to feed Everett at the same time.
When everyone and everything was ready we headed out to bell services. I suppose we could have just called, and they would have come and taken our luggage, but remember how I said that my DH was cheap, well he didnt want to have to tip the porter, so we had to do it ourselves. It was a good thing that we had all that practice from prior vacations hoofing it to the metro, it came in handy trekking through the resort. Its good to know that we didnt totally miss out on the hobo experience this vacation.
We deposited our luggage with Bell services, including my DHs backpack, which held the camera. I didnt realize that he was going to check his backpack, or I would have taken the camera out, but by the time I realized what had happened we were already at the bus depot, and walking back to bell services and waiting for them to dig out our luggage would definitely have made us very late for our ADR. As it was we were pushing it, since we needed to get to the MK, and then take the monorail to the Poly, so I just let it go.
The bus depot was an absolute madhouse, and this was the one time that I regretted the decision to not have a rental car. Since we were at the main depot, and the last bus stop, the majority of the buses were full by the time they pulled up. Right when I really began to despair of making our reservation, a CM showed up with a clipboard and a walkie talkie, and managed to call in some more buses. I was really thankful for this Deus es Machina moment, and we were loaded on a new bus and off to the MK in no time.
We also had good luck with the monorails, and were able to get to the Poly just in time for our reservation. Kona Café for breakfast on our last morning is a tradition, because I always think it is easier to stomach the last day if you have literally have a stomach full of sweet and tasty goodness.

I know that some people swear by the Macadamia nut pancakes, but I only have eyes for the Tonga Toast. Tonga toast is probably my favorite food on earth, and paired with a delicious cappuccino from the coffee bar, and the sights and sounds of the Poly lobby, and you have one heavenly meal.
As I sat back to enjoy my largess, I once again heard a little voice insisting Bite, Bite, Bite! Apparently I am raising a whole new generation of Tonga Toast aficionados, because Everett LOVED it. I mean, who wouldnt love deep fried cinnamon-sugar banana bread, so it wasnt exactly a stretch, but DS happily gobbled down every bite I gave him.
It was such a pleasant meal, DS was well behaved, everything went smoothly, and the food was delicious. It is meals like this that almost lull me in a sense of complacency when it comes to eating out, and makes me think that we could perhaps take Everett to more restaurants.
Breakfast finished, we headed out, taking a quick spin around the Poly lobby, looking for last minute pin trades, and then we headed outside on an entirely different mission- would we be successful?
