A fearless trip report- May 12-18th 2011

First of all.....Welcome Back!

So glad to hear that y'all are working it out for DH's work situation. I know how tough it is to have to move somewhere, when you don't really want to. Hope things are coming together for y'all!

On our job front: Ed had his resume professionally re-written. He got it back last Tuesday & has been submitting it to TONS of jobs pretty much non-stop. The bad thing is that almost every job he applies for states that they will call you within 2 weeks, if you meet all of their qualifications. So, hopefully we'll be hearing some positive things within the next week or so. He has a few recruiters looking for him & has had 2 contact him about jobs. So, we're waiting to see if he'll get interviews for those 2 jobs. But, there is an oil & gas co. that is local here that Ed has some contact with. Well, they called him today & want to meet with him in the morning about them possibly creating a position for him. So, I'm praying that it goes great.

On to the update: I've always hated leaving day at Disney. Now, that I'm following TR's, I hate other peoples' leaving day as well. :sad1: I agree with you that the family lanes for security at the Orlando airport are wonderful.

I hope y'alls recent trip was terrific. I can't wait to hear all about it!

DH has been talking to some of his friends that have been stationed in Norfolk and they all say to live in Virginia Beach as well. What section of the town did you live in? I'm really anxious to find someplace that is safe and family friendly.

We lived in the Great Neck area, just off North Great Neck Road. Great schools in the area and nice neighbourhoods.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us and I can't wait for your next report!

Magical Depress!! I love it!

I haven't decided which is better...having the last flight out of the day, so you can spend time at the parks and squeeze in some last minute fun, or a mid-day flight, so we just have time to get up, pack, and check-out. Either way, leaving is terrible:sad2:.

From our most recent experience, I can say that Colby having his own seat was sooooo much easier! We did not even take his car seat, but he sat in his seat with his seat belt buckled for (almost) the whole flight!

Can't wait to hear about your adults only trip!!

I can't take credit for "Magical Depress" that has been going around the Dis for awhile, but I read it first on Nebo's TRs.

I am not looking forward to the expense of buying an extra plane ticket, but I know that it will mean an easier flight for everyone. We've had flights back to CT that haven't been full and Everett has sat very nicely in his seat with no issues.

I'm so glad to hear that things are looking up on the job front! I hope that the job comes together with the oil and gas company, it would be so nice for you guys to not have to move!

Thanks for the tip! I've been doing a little looking around, and that area looks much nicer than those around the base in Norfolk. I told DH that I want to rent a house with a lot of space. Having more space will be one of the positives of moving to Norfolk, although after living in 800 sq feet, most anything would seem palatial! It would be nice to have a dedicated playroom for Everett, so he could keep all his toys out, and I could get him some larger toys like a train table.

I'll let you guys know when the new TR is up and running!

The Magical Depress... :lmao::rotfl2:

The bad thing about every vacation is that it has to end at some point. At least it was a relatively event free return home.

I look forward to reading your next TR!

The Magical Depress! That's the best! I read this last night to my husband and he even laughed (which is suprising because we have WAY different senses of humor!) Even if you can't take credit that's the first time I heard it and it was FUNNY!

Looking forward to your next trip report and keep us posted on the move!

You should have no problem finding a nice rental in Virginia Beach since the whole Hampton Roads area is very military. We used a real estate agent and she found us some nice properties to look at. Best of luck! The houses are usually a good size and also the lots/yards are typically a nice size for running around and having fun. :thumbsup2

Thanks! Ed had a great meeting with the oil & gas co. today. So, now it's just the waiting game to see what they say next. Fingers crossed! :worried:

I was a plethora of pages behind.

So, I did what any mature adult would do-

I moved to another table :lmao:

:rotfl: Oh my gosh, that is awesome!!!! Smart Momma!

I'm so glad you got to ride Star Tours during the soft opening!

Two very beautiful pictures! ;)

I'm so sorry you don't get to move to Florida. That is not an easy pill to swallow. Please keep us updated on what you guys end up doing.

Looking forward to the adults-only TR!

I'm sorry to hear the Florida move didn't work out. I was hoping it would. It's the worst feeling to have a big list of potential job locations and not like any of them.

And the trip report is over, too. Last days are always the worst. I think it is easier to stay really busy in the parks on the last day. I'll be looking forward to the next trip report!

I will let you all know when I start the next TR. I keep saying I'm going to start it, but then something else comes up!

A big backyard is VERY important ;)

Any news on the job! I'm sending good luck vibes to you and Ed! :goodvibes

I have become resigned to moving to Norfolk, at least I know that it is only two years, and then hopefully we can move somewhere awesome (like back to Florida  ).

Thanks for the good luck vibes....we definitely need them. He had an interview with a local oil co last week that went really well. But, they have 1 more candidate they need to interview at the beginning of next week. So, we'll have to wait & see what they say. He had a phone interview this morning that went really well & they said they would get back to him either at the end of this week of the beginning of next. And he has a phone interview with another company tomorrow morning. Praying that something good comes his way SOON! :sad2:

Enjoyed your trip report and I know what you mean about the last day blues. It is much easier to go to a park.

I am sorry the move to Florida did not work out, but hopefully things will be wonderful for you in Norfolk. I am sure you are there and settled everything will be fine.

Looking forward to reading about your next trip!

I hope it all works out! crossing my fingers that one of those jobs extends Ed an offer!
