Episode 29- the update in which Everett is not satisfied with the playground
With our afternoon of leisurely shopping and lunch accomplished, we headed back onto the DTD ferry.
We had an equally lovely trip back, and once safely docked at POR, we thought about what we were going to do. We had a little time to kill before our friend Brian and his wife Krista joined us for dinner, so we mulled over our options. We could have taken DS back to the pool, since his morning pool adventure was cut short, but the idea of tromping back to the hotel room, dealing with sunscreen, bathing suits and swim diapers, was just too much. We decided to go with plan B, which was stopping by the pool bar, and then taking DS to the playground. Because, we all know, nothing says stellar parenting like hanging around the playground with an adult beverage in your hand.
This plan seemed to work very well at first, Everett loves playgrounds (we practically live at our neighborhood playground), and he was enjoying running in circles like a wild child, burning off all that saved up energy. He was satisfied for a while, that is, until he noticed that the pool was not far from the playground. Suddenly the playground had lost all allure, and the only thing that Everett wanted to do was run at top speed toward the pool.
After a few instances of chasing after him and redirecting him in the direction of the playground, we decided to abort the plan. It is just too hard to chase after DS at top speed and drink your beer at the same time.
We decided instead to take Everett to the lobby, where he could run around inside the River Roost (which was empty at this hour). This served two purposes, we didnt have to worry about Everett drowning himself, and we could get a second fortifying beverage, if the first one didnt do the trick.
Soon after getting comfortable in the bar, Brian and Krista showed up. Our plans were to just have dinner in the food court, and spend some time together. This was going to be the last free day Brian and Krista had during our vacation, so this was our last chance to hang out before we had to head back to Virginia. (this was food court meal #3 for those of you keeping count at home)
We managed to once again snag our table at the food court, and we had a really nice meal. Im pretty sure I ate the same thing again, but it was good, and I guess that is all that mattered. We mostly talked about taking babies to Disney, since they are expecting their first child (incidentally their due date is Everetts birthday!), and all the fun we were going to have in the future with our tribe of little boys. I dont think WDW is going to know what hit it when the three of us couples (me and DH, Bryan and Amy and Brian and Krista) descend upon the parks with our three rambunctious little boys. Its going to one BIG adventure!
We called it an early night, because Krista and Brian had to drive back home, and as it turns out, a rest day is surprisingly tiring! We also wanted to make it an early night so we could be sure to be up early and make it to rope drop for our last day of park touring.
We got back to the room, and Everett went into his crib with no fuss. We turned on Phineas and Ferb, and eventually Everett laid down in the crib, and went to sleep all on his own. It truly was a Disney miracle. What was even more miraculous, was that we got a complete nights sleep, straight through to 6:30 am! Dreams really do come true!
