A fearless trip report- May 12-18th 2011

Great update! Everett sure seemed to have a great evening. I think the look on his face in the Tink picture is priceless! :lmao: I'm sure the couple getting engaged were probably too focused on each other to realize that Everett was around them, let alone realize what his dance signified... and if they did realize it, like you said, they'll have an interesting story. :lmao::rotfl2:

I'm glad Everett enjoyed the fireworks, and I'm glad the stroller thing worked out on the bus. I'm kind of nervous about that, although we'll be driving, so we won't have to use the bus all the time anyway.

Oh, and thanks for saying something to the non-DSA smokers. :thumbsup2

I experienced similar reactions with the CMs when Henry was just grazing the height measurement stick. Some would measure with great concern, bringing multiple CMs over, others would barely glance....so who knows! But, I'm glad to hear Everett conquered his first height restriction ride!!!

And the pooping during the proposal....oh, that's HILARIOUS! :rotfl2:

Your magical moments watching the Castle show and Wishes brought a smile to my face, that's truly what it's all about right there! :lovestruc

Hi Everyone, I'll be back to do individual responses at nap time, but I thought that I could share some pictures with you of Karolina from our last Disney trip in June 2010. I referenced that trip in this TR, it was the one I took exactly two photos, neither of which with Karolina, but we did do a Disney photopass shoot, and got some amazing pictures of the whole family.

We did the photopass shoot as a mother's day present for my mom, but I don't think we realized how precious these photos would be. Here is a link to the photos in in my facebook album, Karolina is the pretty blonde with glasses.

Disney photopass shoot

Beautiful pictures, how wonderful you have some of the whole family together.

Thank you for sharing those beautiful pictures of Karolina with all of us here. It's nice that your family will have those to look back on & remember all of y'alls fond memories of her.

Thank you so much!

Your son is so adorable!! I'm glad he got the chance to take a spin on the speedway!:goodvibes

I'm glad you and your family are on the road to healing. I know it's so hard, but remembering the smiles and good memories will get you through. Those were lovely family photos you shared!

He did love the speedway!

Thank you, it does help to be able to share some wonderful memories!

Your photos are all so cute!!! I had to crack up about Everett's "dance" during someone's proposal!!! Hahahaha! :rotfl: Now THERE is a memory! :lmao:

I am glad your first Disney bus ride was a success! :thumbsup2

Oh I am SO glad you reminded those people of the rules! I had a similar scenario last fall at AK.... This large group of people were walking around the Kali area and we were behind them. It wasn't a super crowded day, but the walk way is a bit narrow, so I couldn't go around them. A few of them were smoking as they walked! :headache: My major issue was that they were holding their cigarettes down by their waists as they walked...so the smoke was trailing them directly into my children's faces in their stroller! :scared1: I nicely said basically the same thing you did, and they started yelling at me!!!! "Who died and made you the queen of Disney?!?" :scared1: Ugh...thankfully a CM stepped in and whisked them away letting them know where they could finish their cigarettes. ;)

Everett certainly knows how to bring all the attention back to him!

Glad I'm not the only Disney rule enforcer! Sorry you had such a bad experience, I probably would not have let it drop, which is why DH thinks I'm going to end up in a bad place someday :scared:

OMG! The story about Everett & his "poop dance" near the couple getting engaged was hilarious! I literally LOL'd! In fact, I was laughing so hard, that I had to stop & tell Ed what was making me laugh so hard. I'm so glad Everett was able to stay up for Wishes. I'm hoping on our next trip, Reid will be better about watching fireworks & we'll be able to stick around for it. And it sounds like y'all were very successful on your first bus trip with a stroller. It can be quite a balancing act handling everything. Can't wait to hear what y'all did on the off day!

Glad to hear that someone else found Everett's poor timing hilarious!

I think we were pretty organized, and I had mentally gone through the "stroller on the bus" steps in my head a few times before we got in line, so we were prepared. :thumbsup2

:rotfl: Love the poop dance story. You hear about people proposing during firework shows, not so much during a toddler poop dance. :rotfl:

If if become a popular option, I'm sure Everett would be up for a repeat performance! :rotfl2:

Love the family pictures, the turned out awesome!! What a great memory to have!!

Love it that Everett has reached his first milestone. Once my DS started reaching those milestones we can't keep him off of them now!! He's now 4 and his favorite ride is Big Thunder Mountain. I swear we rode it like 7 times in a row one night. We'd get off and go straight back through the line. Fastpass and baby swap passes are our friend!! Plus it helped that we had a really great CM who was supposed to collect the FP loved our son cuz he kept telling her "it's the Wildest Wide in the Rilderness" and that this was his favorite ride so she kept giving him back his FP's!!! She was awesome!!!!

Can't wait to hear more!! I also can't wait to get our kids back to WDW. We're a Disneyland family since we're in California.

What a nice story about BTMRR! I'm sure the CM thought that your son was just adorable. I know he would have melted my heart, I have always loved that line from the ride. :lovestruc

I'd love to get Everett out to California and experience Disneyland. I've only been once, and it was on New Years Eve, so it was pretty crowded. Of course, I'm not sure if me or anyone else on the plane could survive a 5 hour flight with Everett, so we may have to wait until he is older.

:rotfl2::lmao: to the poop dance story!! Too funny. So glad Everett liked Wishes! Space stealing latecomers get on my nerves too.:sad2: sorry you had to skip your jungle cruise.

I love the convenience of the bus system, but I am not lugging a stroller. Glad it wasn't too painful. I have seen some folks juggling kids, strollers, balloons, packages etc and not envied them!

We are big bus people, even when we were local and would drive down from Jacksonville, we would still take the buses everywhere. I think now that DH sees that it is doable, we're going to be back to the buses full time.

I hope that maybe they weren't paying any attention! I may have been a little more sensitive, because DH and I got engaged at Disney and it is such a sweet memory. I didn't want old poop-pants to ruin their special moment.

I have to admit, that driving a car is much easier when you have kids, strollers and lots of stuff, but the buses are not the end of the world. Everything just takes so much longer!

Beautiful pictures, how wonderful you have some of the whole family together.

Good to know I wasn't being crazy with my bewilderment over the CM actions. I just wanted to make sure he was OK and wasn't breaking any rules!

As for pooping stories, this is not the last one you will read about in this TR- there is more "fun" to come! :rotfl2:

Oh my gosh! The poop dance story is HILARIOUS! :lmao: Very nice timing Everett.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:
The Poop Dance and The Proposal! It sounds like a parent's memoirs or an episode of How I Met Your Mother or something!!:rotfl2: Too cute! Well, everyone poops! If they had known what was happening they probably would have laughed too! So, did she say yes?;) That was a fantastic story!

The smoking in non-smoking areas is a pet peeve of mine too. Last spring when I went with DMum (who smokes like a chimney), I learned just how many of those areas there are! They aren't exactly few and far between! I would have said something too. I would have said something to the irritating family while waiting for Wishes too!

I'm glad Everett enjoyed Wishes! I know my neice isn't keen on loud noises but she sits enthralled through it (she's 4). I love that he kept yelling BOOM! Very sweet!:goodvibes

First: beautiful photos of your family from last year! So nice that you have such nice photos of the whole family.
Second: loved the photos of the three of you from this year!
Third: seriously Everett pooped during an engagement...Love it lol
Fourth: you may just be my anti smoking hero! My biggest pet peeve anywhere!

Thank you for sharing the family pictures of Karolina. They are beautiful and I know your family will treasure them forever!

What a great day the 3 of you had at the Magic Kingdom! It sounds magical and makes me look forward to the memories we are going to be making with DS very soon! We are going through a cars obsession at our house, too! I am glad Everett was not scared of the fireworks. Colby is going through a faze right now where he is scared of thunder and other loud noises, so we are bringing some ear protection for him so he does not get scared during the fireworks.

It was a really sweet moment. But I'd had enough and ended up bringing my 2 year old DD and 10 month old DS over to Winnie the Pooh and rode that 4 times in a row for my DD. I felt bad for her that she just had to sit and wait for her brother to ride rides. So it was a special night.

Flying for us wasn't too bad when we brought our kids to WDW in May 09. At the time DS was 25 months and DD was 8 months (yes we're crazy). We have a double stroller that was great to have during the flight. I made sure that we also flew when the kids would sleep. We did a red eye from California to Florida with an hour layover in Texas. They did perfectly fine. But then again we've been pretty lucky traveling with our kids. They were pretty mello at the time. Now I don't think it'd be that easy with our DD (she'll be 3 in Sept). She's pure drama!!!

Doing the buses wasn't to bad for us when we went in May of 09 with our double stroller. My husband would also go to the back door with the double stroller and stand out of the way and I'd have the kids. Now the hardest part for me was getting two kids and myself on the bus cuz my son wasn't tall enough to just step into the bus and some of those steps were pretty high. So I was a site to see carrying two kids into the bus and actually sometimes had a really nice person in line either in front of me or behind me hold my son for me so I could get on and then hand him back off. So it all ended up working out.

Well, DH and I were watching and laughing, because the “poop dance” is actually pretty funny in person, and I wasn’t paying any attention to the couple. Well, Everett reached the cumulation of the “poop dance” (the whole squatting and concentrating part), and I happened to glace over at the couple, and low and behold the guy was standing there holding an engagement ring and my son was POOPING NOT TEN FEET FROM HIS PROPOSAL!

When I realized what was going on I was mortified. I grabbed DS and hightailed it out of there, followed by DH (who was laughing even harder). I felt really bad, but DH said it was OK, and just gave them a glimpse into their lives will look like in a few years. If nothing else it will make for a good story- right! :rotfl2:

Yep, they might as well know what that ring might lead to.

When the show was over, people were clapping, and after it had gotten (relatively) quiet, DS let out a big “YAY” at the top of his lungs. It was enough of a delay to be really funny, and the people around us got a good chuckle out of it. I guess he knows what he likes! :lovestruc

I'm sure that brought a lot of smiles for that moment. Very cute. :lovestruc

Well, the show started and I was holding my breath, but soon enough, as the first firework went off, Everett burst into a huge smile, held his hands up in the air and yelled “BOOM”. Knowing Everett, I should have known that loud noises would be right up his alley! We watched the show together, with him “BOOM”ing the whole time. It was one of those precious Disney moments, and the reason we all return again and again. Just thinking about it brings a big smile to my face. :cloud9:

You shouldn't take babies to Disney World, you know. They won't remember a thing. :upsidedow

Probably true, but what about the grown-ups? We will remember. :)

:lmao: Oh my gosh, that's hysterical!! I'm sure Everett will just love that story when he gets older and he has to hear, "Remember that time you pooped right next to a guy proposing in the MK?" Too too funny!

Those are both super adorable.

Landon did the same thing the last time I tried to measure him for the Indy Speedway. He just wouldn't stand there. I gave up and figured we'd try again next time. I hope we do get on it next time. It seems like the perfect ride for little boys. The first height restriction ride seems like such a huge milestone.

I love the little tail on Everett's outfit. Too cute!

I'm glad to hear Everett had a good time watching Wishes and the memories show. I'm sure it was priceless to hear him booming with the fireworks. :goodvibes

Episode 26- the update in which there will be blood, part II

Well, I guess it had to happen…

Despite crossing my fingers, knocking on wood, rubbing my lucky rabbit foot, throwing salt over my shoulder, and various other incantations, I knew that as soon as my mom left the spell would be broken and Everett would be back to his regularly scheduled poor sleeping habits.

At around 2am I heard the tell-tale rustle in the crib, at that point I thought, well, maybe he is just rolling around, its not bad yet.:rolleyes1

A few moments later, I heard the tell-tale whine, but I thought, well, maybe he will settled himself down, its not bad yet.:rolleyes1

A moment after that when the whine escalated to a full-throated cry, I knew the gig was up, and it was indeed bad now. :scared1:

I went over to the crib, and tried just rubbing his back, hoping he would just lay down and go back to sleep. Well, Everett gave me a look that said “you think I was born yesterday-you’re going to have to do better than that” and just kept on screaming.

Well, I had two options, let DS cry it out and incur the wrath of our Bayou neighbors, or take Everett into bed with me and give co-sleeping a shot.

Knowing Disney’s attention to detail, I worried that there might be a double-barreled shotgun worked into the décor somewhere around Alligator Bayou, and I didn’t want to give any irate vacationers from the rooms next door any reason to go seek it out, so co-sleeping it was.

I have never been one for co-sleeping. I was sufficiently scared straight during the baby care class I had to take at the hospital, and I never once tried it. I knew with my rational mind that Everett wasn’t a newborn, and I have ample proof that he can wiggle out from under any blanket or pillow that may try to obstruct his airway, but I am nervous just the same.

I got DS into bed with me, and pushed the covers all the way to the bottom of the bed, and then moved all the pillows to the side of the bed, in an attempt to build an impenetrable wall on his side. I figured it was the best I could do and I got into bed with DS. He seemed very pleased with the arrangement, and drifted off to sleep quickly, and despite my worries, I drifted off myself.

Everything was going swimmingly until I was awoken by a high pitched wail. For a moment I was completely disoriented, where was I, where was DH, why was Everett screaming bloody murder? :confused3 and then it all came back to me in a rush, and I looked over the edge of the bed to see my poor baby laying there on the floor bleeding and crying. The first thing that flashed into my mind was “You know, this is why I never co-sleep.”

I jumped out of the bed, and picked up my poor baby. By this time the commotion had also awoken DH, who turned on the light. DS calmed down almost immediately, so I knew he wasn’t really hurt, just scared, I guess the impenetrable wall of pillows did not live up to its name.

DS had a small cut on his lip, but it was quickly cleaned up, and he was as good as new in no time. At this point I handed Everett to DH and told him that it was his turn. We turned on the TV, put DS back into the crib, and he eventually laid down and went back to sleep, which meant a few more precious hours of sleep for all of us. DS got up again around 8:30, which was technically sleeping in, but I really could have done without all the drama and would have happily just taken the sleeping in part! ;)

Next up, more poop drama!

Poor little Everett! I'm glad to hear he wasn't hurt too badly. But, I'm sure it gave him (& y'all) a good scare! Reid fell out of the bed in Disney during his 1st trip in December because I didn't even think about asking whether or not they had bed rails. :sad2:

Waiting to hear about the next episode of poop drama! :scared1:

Oh no! Poor Everett. He must be quite the active sleeper. I'm sure he was probably pretty startled to wake up in that manner. I'm glad he didn't get hurt too bad.

We have DS in a toddler bed now and he is doing great sleeping in it... much better than he did in the crib. He never slept well at all in the crib, but since we put him in the bed, he'll sleep through the night most of the time without making a peep. I think now that he knows he can get out of bed if he wants to, it makes him less dramatic when he opens his eyes, and less likely to actually want out. It is just a bit closer to the ground than those Alligator Boyou beds though.:rotfl2:

Aww, poor Everett! At least he wasn't hurt too bad. The same thing happened to my brother when he was little and he has never forgotten it!

Can't wait to hear about some more poop drama! :lmao:

:scared1: Poor Everett! I would have/have done the same thing tho. DS didn't sleep through the night until he was like 3 1/2. I know how exhausting and frustrating that can be for everyone. I'm glad he wasn't seriously hurt and hope he is sleeping better for you now.

Aww..Poor Everett for falling out of bed. The same thing happend to Colby last summer when we were on vacation with my Dad's whole family. He had woken up during the night and I brought him into bed with me (DH had left vaca early to get back to work). I, too, tried to make a wall of pillows, but it did not work either. Luckily, Colby was fine, too. I hope your day goes better than your night did!
