A Fairy Affair -- Aidan's MAW TR 3/1-3/7

I am so-o-o-o looking forward to reading more about your trip! I can't wait to read about the first day in a park!:goodvibes

It's still day 1 of our trip. We've gotten settled in to our villa, had a very late lunch, made our trip to Wal-Mart, and rode around the village for a quick look at everything. We get back to our villa where we intend to rest for a little while before I have orientation and Chris goes off to play with the kids. However, the village had other plans.

We got a call at 6:00 inviting the boys to Kids Night Out. I didn't figure this would be something the boys would want to do as Aidan and Peyton don't like to be away from us in new situations. But when I ask them, they start jumping and saying "Yes! Please, Momma?! Please, please, please?" How could I say no to that? So, we take the boys up to Amberville Train Station.

They have a bunch of volunteers for Kids Night Out, and they pair each child up with a volunteer. Chris and I reluctantly leave the boys and go back to the villa to wait on our orientation. Since the boys will be eating during their Kids Night Out, Chris and I order chicken sandwiches from Katies Kitchen. We do not have a Boston Market around here, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. However, I loved the sandwich and the seasonal fruit that came with it. After dinner, it was off to orientation for us. (Yes, we both went. I think Chris was scared he might be lost without all of us. ;) )

Orientation lasted about 45 minutes for us. We had a large group, and surprisingly, the dads way outnumbered the moms. We received a large packet that had our purple lanyard, all of our tickets, information on wish lounges, GAC's, etc. It was very informative. However, it was very bittersweet to learn that GKTW just passed their 100,000th family. It's so amazing that so many children get to experience GKTW, but also so sad to know that there are so many sick children who need it. Like I said, bittersweet.

While we were in orientation, the boys had dinner at the Gingerbread House. This was also their first meeting with Mayor Clayton.

After dinner, they went over to Julie's Safari Theater for the Village's version of the Double Dare game show.

The kids are given the option of whether to participate in the show or be a part of the audience. Keegan and Aidan chose to participate. Peyton sat in the audience with his volunteer. Now, I only caught the end of Double Dare, but thankfully, GKTW took pictures of it. I've had the kids describe what they did, and these are the two favorite stories that I got.

One of the games was where they had a potty chair over a bowl. The bowl was filled with liquid and plastic bugs. They had to get as many bugs out as they could in the time that they were given. Oh, and they were blindfolded.

Aidan actually got all of the bugs out. His reward? Throwing a pie in another kid's face! But then the kid took some of the 'pie' and put it in Aidan's face.

Aidan got complete payback a little later, and Chris and I had just gotten out of orientation and showed up to watch. This was also their second favorite part of the night. It was a game similar to musical chairs. The kids are paired up and throw a beach ball back and forth. Keegan and Aidan just happened to be paired together. Whoever was stuck with the ball at the end got a pie in the face. The other person got to throw it. So, we got to watch as Keegan threw a pie into Aidan's face. again! I was so worried about how all of the kids were going to take this. But they were having a blast!

We got back to the villa at about 9:00. Because it was late, and because we could, we threw all 3 boys into the jacuzzi tub. This was a first for them, and they got the biggest kick out of it. After baths, the boys said they were hungry. And again, since we could, we ordered pizza as a late night snack.

Now, after baths and pizza, it was time for their night medicines. It was then that I found out that I had forgotten one of Aidan's more important medicines. I left it at home! So, I called the local 24 hour Walgreens to see about getting it refilled. Houston, we have a problem. He doesn't have any refills left! :scared1: Thankfully, the pharmacist was very helpful. She agreed to give us 3 days worth but said we would have to pay cash for it because they couldn't bill his insurance for it. So, we did. And they faxed a request to his doctor for a refill. Two days later, we did get the refill. But he had his medicine for the night, and all was well. Moral of this story: Get new prescriptions and take them with you just in case something happens. And if you don't take new prescriptions, call the 24 hour Walgreens and they'll help you! I got the impression that they were used to working with wish families.

I should also mention here that my awesome itinerary that I had worked so hard on also got left at home. :headache: Will we figure out where we're going and when? And what about that forecast? Rain tomorrow?

Awesome update, Miranda! So glad that wal-green's worked with you to get his med! We missed double dare and parent's night out, just the timing. We thought the Boston Market food was good as well. Piper has said a couple of times.."wouldn't it be nice to just call and order food right now, Mom?" :rotfl2: Then again..she also wanted to move into the village! Gotta love it!

Great update...so fun! I know the kids must have had a blast throwing pies in each other's face. :lmao: I mean what kid wouldn't like to throw a pie? Especially in their brother's face...awesome!!! Can't wait to read more. popcorn::
