A DisneyWorld Lifer is going to Disneyland-the saga ends...

We had a way better day today...I started to get grumpy, about the third time Rose almost got into an accident, but then realized I need to ignore my feelings, sit back and enjoy the trip!

I had a total distraction tonight from any hard feelings I had for that minute. The hotel in San Fran tried to charge my debit card 3 times for the hotel room! It would have been a worse isuue if Rose wasn't there to save me by paying for the room while I went up to holler at the bank and the holiday inn. By the time my bank came back online it was all fixed and my money is now safely back in my bank account. I woulda been totally screwed if I was here alone with my dd tho :faint:

Rose even went and bought me a six of corona while I sat here on the phone. I love her to death, but as you all said, anyone who spends this much time together is bound to get on each other's nerves.

Wait til you guys see the pics from today, the pacific coast is gorgeous!

We never did get over to Disney property, but guess what! Our room is on the third floor right across from disney facing the park! How cool is that! I am sitting here looking out the window and can see the tower of terror sign right from my chair! The monorail and walk in entrance are 100 feet from our room~ :cloud9:

We are getting up at 7,
going to breakfast by 8
and will be in the park by 9am tomorrow~

HEY THATS MY JOB! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

:lmao:

Morning DU!

Sorry, I was actually on a laptop last night and copied that one myself ;)

Stef brought hers and while I was on here fixing my bank kayrap I was surfing the DIS....

I am on the laptop again so here is today's update fresh off the presses~

We had a GREAT day at Disneyland! Did absolutely every ride that needed to be done! Well almost, Brittany and I missed Alice and Roger Rabbit cause we went to have dessert at Blue Bayou with my Cali friend Nan. We were the only ones who wanted to go. Rose and Stefanie have no idea what they missed :cloud9:

Brittany and me had the Pirat ship: warm cookie pie topped with ice cream and decorated with a sugar sail and mast. Nan had key lime pie with a sugat pirate medallion on the side. We got commemorative POTC menus, I asked for a kids menu for Britt cause it turns into a hat. On the way out we each got POTC movie posters.

Nan took the two of us over to a gallery, it had some gorgeous Disney artwork in there, I of course took pictures of some of our favorites. We asked for tubes for the menus and posters since all of us are flying home and there is no way those posters would make it home in one piece without them.

Nan kept commenting that she has never had such good luck with lines ever!

We took advantage of the fastpass system for Splash and Buzz, everything else was pretty much a walk on. Space mountain was the longest line at 30 minutes. Nan said she had never seen standby at SM at less than 90 minutes. We dd Buzz twice! The fastpass collector was MIA and noone took our passes so we all zipped back around to the front of the line for a second chance to take care of Zurg~

We rode a pirate ship that sails around what you all would know as Tom Sawyers Island-Cali's is now Pirate's Lair. Nan took her kids over yesterday and said it was kinda lame.

The theme for the day was it's the same, only different~

Space Mountain was incredible, their pirates ride was totally cool, the lines being outside instead of inside like we are used to was pretty cool too. I think we are doing DCA tomorrow, Rose and I are back into disagreement mode. I thought she wanted to do Universal but now shes saying we'll go to DCA. She was asleep when Britt and me got back from DTD, Stef woke her up cause I asked what we are doing.

Rose had mentioned on the way in that she wanted to do Universal tomorrow so the day we leave we could do Disney and not go so far out of our way to come back for our luggage. As of now, I have to wake up and pack so she can move our luggage over to her timeshare. Nan and her family leave tomorrow afternoon to go back to San Jose, we'll spend what time they are here with them at DCA and then bid them adeiu.

Rose still wants to go to Hollwood the next day, I really wanted to go back to Disney. Brittany wants to go to Hollywood too but is having second thoughts about spending the day in the city without me. DD is being wishy washy about going with Rose and Stef without me so I am feeling guilted into going with them. If I don't go and she stays in Anaheim with me I'll feel guilty that she'll regret never getting to see LA. For her, I'll go.

Since we are doing DCA tomorrow then the 31st will be Universal Day. I pray I can keep up this pace. We've gotten up at 6 and 7 am since we arrived here, I haven't slept in once. When we hit San Diego I'm gonna have to insist I get some rest. I am already exhausted and am gonna need a vacation after my vacation if I don't.

When in San Diego we only have one beach day, one day at Sea World and one day at the San Diego Zoo planned. Rose really needs to let me sleep in those days, I see no need to be at either park or the beach so early in the morning that I get woken up at 6am.

I still gotta get a shower and have to pack in the am so I am done venting for now. Thanx for listening and letting me share this experience with all of you...I will bid you all a good night and hpray for me that we have a better day tomorrow~

Finally found ya!

Sounds like you're having an awesome time tho' I'm not entirely sure I'd be as chilled as you seem to be with your co-vacationer - is that a word?! :lmao: I couldn't possibly cope with such early starts for one thing, but then I am someone who needs possession of the bed for an 8 hour minimum - without it I'm vile... :headache:

Blue Bayou's fab isn't it? I have such fond memories of a meal there and can't wait to return in August 2008. Your hotel sounds a fantastic location too.. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to hearing more and feel free to vent anytime you like! As far as I'm concerned, the degree of patience you're showing deserves a medal...  :goodvibes

Hey...Tigg.....i should have thought to warn you about the traffic.....when i first moved here (so many years ago)....from Iowa no less....and did my first drive down into LA....i about DIED....stop/start....slam brakes...etc etc etc. It can be awful, and when we drive down now, and i TRY to leave early evening so we're hitting LA about midnight....it is STILL full of traffic....just not stop/start - and i only wonder WHERE are all these people going??????
Glad you're having a good time despite the ordeals....i only travel with a couple of good friends and we're pretty much on the same routine and desire - especially when it comes to Disney....well best of luck for the remaining days....have a few drinks, take a couple of deep breaths - etc....waiting ever so patiently to see your photos...oh by the way....if you took PCH from San Jose....you went right by office....just south of Watsonville about 1/2 mile or so....

 Hi Colleen.

Just thought I'd come over here and see how things were going:thumbsup2

Enjoy the rest of your trip.

We were very lucky with blue bayou, I had my ressies mixed up and showed up the wrong day, they still let us in :goodvibes:

I am almost at 400 pictures and am very happy with what I've got so far.

You live in a beautiful state Brenda, I was taking mental notes on the areas I liked for our next trip back :)

 hi robin! Glad to see you stopping by!

Hello darling...we've made it home (safely)

Okay, tell the truth, today was my "I'm the Crab day!" I tell ya those kids of mine (that are perfect angles compared to alot of others) can really get me sometimes. I lost it with their bickering and pulled the no more rides for you card. Molly cried, and cried and cried, Wilson cried but not as much. I just got more mad and of course the looming flight for me made it worse in my own mind. (did ya all know I HATE to fly) (& crab the whole day when I have to fly) (ask Paul...no don't he'll spill)

okay, enough of my hijacking for tonight.

It was great fun to share the Dland experience with you guys & my hats off to you all for traveling together as friends. Rose & Step are great but.....I'd never be able to do the trip like you guys. (I also can't even stand my own family sometimes remember) The reality is that you have a great friendship to savor these moments in life. That we all agree is priceless.

Time to say hello to my "other" friends on the WB repo and call it a night.

LYMI,

Nan
a.k.a. the cranky mama

After reading through your report, I'm of the opinion that you need a nice long rest in a hot tub with a corona in your hand, followed by a long shower, followed by a good sleep. I'm the official foot-massager in my family, and if I were there, I'd massage your poor tootsies. Really! Steph is a doll, but after meeting both girls, I 100% agree that Brittany is more mellow and easier to travel with.

Nan, if you're reading, the kids look OMG so much older! Molly is on her way to becoming a raven-haired beauty, but you already know that!:thumbsup2

Tiggie, you're in my thoughts. Enjoy the last of your vacay, you California-girl, you! I wish I was there, and I wouldn't get on your nerves, I promise!

OMG Aisling, that totally sounds perfect!

After Britt and me get some food I gotta find me a pharmacy (for my sinus medz) a store for some Corona and the hot tub I hope is in this hotel. The footrub I guess I gotta give to myself, but on that line of thinking I can grab some lotion and go for a full on personal pedi~ :cloud9:

Thanx for the support Ladies! (and Disunc)

LY All MI!

Blue Bayou IS great....but can't compare to Club 33....did you get in to the Club????????????????????????

No, no club 33 :( We saw the door tho ;)

Nan's connection was a remote one...we had a good time, I was not disappointed in DL or DCA.

We are on our last day in California, I owe you guys some updates but haven't had time to post them here....when I get home tomorrow night I will update this report. When I get all 700+ pictures loaded I am gonna start a seperate photographic report for all to see.

We are headed to the San Diego Zoo soon~TTFN

We think we saw rose twice last night on the David Spade show, DU-dudja manage to get that recorded for meh? She was sitting on the aisle, we would've been but the lady they asked to move down refused to so Stef, Britt and me were on the far side away from the stage. Rose was quite happy that she was on tv :hyper:

Britt is still sleeping, Rose and Stef have gone out. We got in pretty late last night, I have yet to even look out the window to see the city. I have one of my sinus headaches this morning and need to find a pharmacy. I am glad it hit the one down day, Ida been REALLY miserable if I had to go out with my head feeling the way it does right now. I only need to get a decongestant-I ran out the other day and have waited too long to re-up.

Brittany and me managed to relax all day. Rose called about 2 and asked if we wanted to go to coronado with her. I told her she would have to wait cause Britt had just gotten into the shower. I knew she wouldn't wait and she didn't. She went to la jolla, got lost going to coronado and then headed to la to visit her niece. She is still not back, Britt and me are both glad we opted out. Rose still has to go to the airport to drop the car off.

I got directions via public transport to get to the zoo and sea world from the concierge. There is a subway across the street, we got our lunch from there. I got my medz from the local rite aid and got Britt and me each a pint of ice cream for ourselves.

I am headed into the tub after pirates of the Caribbean is over. The first one is on USA network right now.

Sea World Day

We got out of the room around 10:30 to catch the trolley to SW. It's a really nice park, great shows, we absolutely love seeing all the wildlife. Rose misjudged what time the last bus takes off outta SW, we missed the last one out an had to take a cab home.

We had a beautiful day at the zoo today, geez that place is confusing...it was only about 65 but it was sunny all day. The highlite of our day had to be the polar bear. He was super playful and tossing a ball into the water and chasing after it. I got some awesome water shots and some super close ups of him.

We fly home rediculously early tomorrow, we expect to be in Philly by 5. I will check back when I can.

I am taking Tuesday off to recoup myself and catch up at home before diving back into work. Our skatepark and third store are expected to both open up by the middle of June which means my workload is only going to become heavier but I can handle it. That is what vacation is for right?

Britt and me are off to get some food, catch yall later!

Yes, I think it was a bit too hectic...

That one day Brittany and me stayed in did us alotta good. Sea world wound up being a late night, so late we missed the last bus out and had to take a cab back. I told rose we needed to leave early because we were were using public transport and she swore we would be fine. She didn't listen to me so she sprung for the cab back to the hotel.

They didn't like taking the bus today either and insisted on taking a cab back from the zoo. That trip cost the same as the bus wouldve but I swear the cabbie was trying to kill us. He drove horribly, stopped in traffic trying to talk to another cabbie and slammed on the brakes every time he came to a stop.

Anyway...

We wound up having subway for dinner again, I got soup and Brittany got her usual veggie patty thing.

She did ok on this trip foodwise. She ate veggie burgers and pizza and at dca she had a veggie burrito she said was very good. One place put a special sauce on her burger that she said was the best she'd ever had, alls I know is it was green.

I am about to take my shower and need to head to bed, I will be lurking til I have to go to sleep...goodnight

Morning all!

We are up and trying to get out of here, stef's moving a little slow today. I am so ready to go home.

The first thing we noticed about California, they really like their garlic out here don't they :)

We fly out at 630 but are only about 10 minutes from the airport. The gaslamp district is where we were staying in san Diego, its great if you like the nightlife and is a convenient area for getting around the city. Rose and I don't do clubs and the girls are too young yet so the nightlife isn't quite for us.

Time to go get a taxi, ta ta for now.

We are at the airport now, done with security and have about an hour to wait. I got myself a starbucks coffee and Britt got got chocolate, we both got blueberry muffins too. Mcdonalds opened after that so I went over and got Britt a hash brown and me a sausage mcmuffin and a oj for me and a poweraid for her. I didn't eat my muffin so I am saving it for the plane. Its gonna be a long flight and airlines don't feed people anymore so I loaded up before we go. I carry a lot of snacks with me too so nobody can say they went hungry.

We made it to Atlanta...

Weather in Philly is delaying our take off by about an hour tho, hubby's not so happy about that. I thought he'd be fine with it since we wouldve been waiting for him to get to the airport from work anyway. The girls and rose are getting some food, the landing messed my stomach up a little with turbulance so I just had some peanut butter crackers and water.

With southwest and delta I think the rule is if its over two and a half hours you get a snack. Delta gave is two snacks. The only food like sandwiches I have seen are in the airport itself.

When we finally do get on the plane it'll only be two more hours til we get home. This trip has been a nice experience but as I said before Brittany and me are ready to get home.

We are home!

Our flight wound up taking off around 4pm, we landed at 6 and we got to the house about 7 last night, dropped Rose and Stefanie off at their house and then came home to catch up with my guys. Dad was here, DS came home shortly after we did. I never realize how much I miss my husband til I see him...my heart actually jumped when I saw him waiting for us at the airport

Well, I uploaded about 800 pictures last night and Stefanie took about 300 more...I want to share all of them with you guys so look for a photographic report, coming to a thread near you!

Thanks for sticking with me thru all the ups and downs, thank you for letting me share...

TTFN!

Final thoughts?

California is gorgeous, the traffic is horrendous, the weather was quite cool.

Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure were cool! We totally lucked out at DL, the lines were short-Pirates had a wait time of only five minutes, we fast passed Splash and Buzz, everything else was pretty much a walk on. The longest line we experienced the whole time was Roger Rabbit at 35 minutes and to see Mickey which took us about 30.

Universal Hollywood is neat, their backlot tour citywalk is way better than in Florida but the parks in Florida have Hollywood beat (ridewise.) USH has the biggy's; Mummy, Backdraft, Jurassic Park and the backlot tour incorporates Jaws, King Kong (which FL doesn't even have anymore) and Earthquake. The backlot tour includes a couple more "experiences" like the Mummy cave and a real flood. USH's backlot takes about 45 minutes to experience and I followed a DIS recommendation to go there first so we did. The rest of the park, again, was total walk ons. We had to wait for nothing.

Sea World is cool, Stefanie says she likes Cali's better...I personally like them both about the same.

The San Diego Zoo is cool but confusing. Everything seems to loop around or dead end and the hills in this place would give even the healthiest of people a good workout. It was one of the warmest days we had the whole time, it was 75 and sunny. Since it was so warm, alot of the animals were sleeping. We like our Philadelphia Zoo and visiting San Diego's has motivated us to go back to ours.

Alcatraz was really cool, but so was the weather. We wore long pants and sweatshirts almost every day. The days would heat up a bit in the middle but for the most part...it was cold. Seeing the San Francsco Giants and Barry Bonds play was cool too. We woulda absolutely stayed the whole game if the temps hadn't dropped so much-we FROZE.

I still have to call Holiday Inn Express AGAIN! They triple charged my debit card and have yet to give me my money back. I am calling their corporate offices today! Thank goodness for family and friends, Rose and Dad and Hubby all helped me cover what the hotel took but now I have to pay them back. Lord help the person I get on the phone if they don't help me today.

HIE tried to blame the fact that I used a debit card but I used it at two other hotels and gee, they only charged me for the room. Go figure. How can they excuse taking and extra $500 from me and blame what card I used for the transaction! Ok...off my podium now...

I have lotsa nice pictures to share, I uploaded them last night. I intend to break the pics down enough to not inundate you all...I will also put them on a seperate thread and come back with the link so you guys can find me.

Thanks again for allowing me to share our journey. This trip was for DD and her best friend Stef. Since graduating high school, these two have really had no time together. It was fabulous seeing them giggle like school girls again, they've literally known each other since the age of 3.

One last thing...we flew Delta and Song coming home. It's the first time we had the tv's in the headrest, southwest and airtran have nothing like it. The girls and I played trivia against the other passengers all the way from California to Georgia, Brittany won one of the games and I actually won two! Both the girls are really smart and were at the top of the list almost the whole time. I wasn't consistant at all, I was either all the way at the top or all the way at the bottom. Point is, it made the four hour leg of our trip fly by and the girls and I had fun playing.

Delta played tv shows for us, food network is all I saw. I slept almost the whole way from Atlanta to Philly, when I woke up I could feel the airplane was decending and knew we were almost home.

All in all it was a great trip. If I am to do this again, I will pick a spot and stay there. Traveling from town to town and running every day is exhausting. Thank goodness I have a down day. Rose and Stefanie are back to work already...no way could I have managed that.

Today I have to make the phone call to get my money back, unpack and do some laundry, clean the bathroom (cause I can absolutely tell it's been occupied by three GUYS for 11 days :ewww: ) and relax.

TTFN again, I'll be back with my pics later on today~

LY All MI~

colleen.
