A Disney Start to 2015 - What a Dream! :-) Disney dream 12/29/2014

Is it poor etiquette to suggest your hometown postcards as a FE goodie for adults well really for me. I like to attach a magnetic to the postcard and place it on our door..... then every DC we take we can add to the collection. Just a thought...I just see that we have representation from all over including overseas!!!! Its the little things that make me smile:flower3:

Hi. I would do this for you, just tell me exactly what you want?
A postcard from my hometown with a magnet attached so it can go on your door?
What a clever and cute idea.

As a general rule, you make gifts for each person in the cabin, depending on what you are doing. This time we are doing a single gift per cabin because of what it is and it is something that will be used by all. I think we will also give a little something extra for each of the kids in the stateroom. Last cruise we made individual gifts for each person. You deliver your gifts to each cabin once. It is up to you how and when you deliver them. We normally do it by floor, taking one or two a day, depending on the length of the cruise and how many participants we end up having. We do it whenever we have some down time. Others like to do it at night. We generally had something in our FE almost every time we went to our cabin. It really is all a matter of personal preference and what you feel comfortable with doing. There are lots of FE ideas on DIS Boards and Pinterest. Here's a link to the FE Gifts Forum on DISBoards and my personal Pinterest Board if that will help. There are plenty of ideas for those who are very crafty to those who would burn themselves with their glue gun :rotfl2:

Hopefully this answers your question. If not, let us know. Remember to not stress and have fun with it. Our boys are so excited when they get back to the cabin and their is gifts in the FE! I am always amazed at the cleverness and generosity of the FE Group. It's such a wonderful part of our cruise experience.

Shawn

Hi. I am stressed but really want to participate (I gave my information above) since I want to make sure I give good gifts but have to fly, etc.
This post of yours is very helpful to me. I am going to go on the links tomorrow while at work. I am also in the midst of planning a surprise 50th for my dh next month, OMG lol He will kill me if he finds out especially I could use that money I saved for the cruise :crazy2: but he deserves it, I hope he feels the same LOL

Thank you for taking the time to help us out!

OMG!
We have to make the FE too
Didn't think about that

OK, I am going to start looking at the link Shawn gave for both the dis and the esty or whatever it is. How many people and/or cabins do I know I am doing this for? Where do I find that information?

I am all in but have no clue but want to do something great. LOL

This is my first cruise so I am not sure if the FE are only for those with children or is this something we can do? My husband and I will be celebrating our 25th Anniversary!

Thanks for any help!

Hi. My dh and I have been married 24 years last month and were at Disney. Happy 25th!!

Im doing this on my own for my family since my kids are older but thinking it will be fun. They dont even know Im doing this yet lol

Shawn, how many people are we doing this for? Is it per room, per person? Is it one time during the cruise or every day?
Sorry, never did this and this will determine what I end up making or purchasing. If it is one per cabin and not person, I guess my FE could
just have our last name? Is it more cost effective to just purchase the FE from ebay or somewhere? I'm excited and terrified at the same time LOL

So, to answer your question, yes its open to all. Hoping to look for ideas tomorrow. May be nice to meet with other couples that
won't have kids or older kids for drinks in the evening.

I am just finishing up my FE packaging and was wondering how will we receive the staterooms for those still waiting on assigned room?
I know you plan to clean up the list but I was just wondering and also the ones who are still ??? for FE.
I know its still early but I need to get a head start with the holidays/birthday approaching.
Yes I am one of those people who has Christmas wrapped and waiting to start the Christmas home decor right after my hunting trip first week of Nov.
I have all the allergies labeled on my FE to assure parents.
I have extreme allergies myself and aware of the precautions
I have my FE also labeled with first name and rm # which are separated in giant zip bags by floor levels.
This is our first FE so we may have overdone it but hey its Disney Cruise so it has to be magical;)

FYI...
Staterooms with food allergies I did the FE to accommodate the whole stateroom and not just the individual with the allergy.
This is to avoid cross contamination in such a confined space.

Hi...I didnt see your info on the FE list. Think you could share???:lovestruc

Whew! I just went through both the Post #41 list and the spreadsheet. We have quite a crew for this sea voyage! Both should now be in balance. Please let me know if there are any corrections that need to be made. You will not hurt my feelings! I really would appreciate someone proofing my work. :worship: Also post here if you make any changes to the spreadsheet, so I can update post #41.

There has been a lot of people in favor of splitting the list into two as we are up to 31 cabins. That can be a lot. We will probably split into two FE lists which I will try to do next week. If you have already started preparing for the entire list, then you may continue to do so. Just let us know so we can be sure we get you on both lists. Once I split the list in to two groups, I will post Group 1 & Group 2 here on the thread and those will become the "Official Lists" and not post 41 (the master list). We will still have the meet & greet as the whole group.

We are still needing information for the following participants:

WDWCathy
soxfam04
Gramhamfam4 (cabin #)
Dawkins5 (Are you in one cabin now or both 8512 & 8518?)
Plaster4 (cabin #)
Dancingbubbles (cabin #)

Please post in the following format as soon as possible. If you are still waiting on information like cabin numbers and such, please post an let us know what's going on. We don't want to have to remove you from the list.

Thanks for all your help. It will make for a great cruise.

Ok let me address these separately:
1. As we approach the cruise, the list will fill out. You can always write the room numbers on the ones you have left if you need to. I wouldn't think there would any hole the last week but, if there are up to the last minute, you could try to collect the missing room numbers at the meet & greet.

2. I have now tried to balance the lists. Both should have the most recent information. Let me know if I have missed something.

3. Vhurley you are definitely going above and beyond. In my earlier post, I stated that several others wanted to split the list in two. If you want to continue to give everyone something, you certainly may do so. Just let me know your plans I I will make sure you are on both lists. There are 31 cabins now with a total of 104 people. That's an awful lot of gifts to prepare for. Besides, we have to remember we have to carry all that stuff on the ship :crazy2:. Thanks for all your work. Double check Post #41 and make sure I have your information listed right. If you are combining those rooms, let me know which room the FE will be at and I will update it.

Well thank you. I am the one of those types that will think about a trip for months, research, plan, find out every detail I can before going. I am not so bad that we can't make changes to the plan on the fly but, I like to know what to expect. I think that's why I like these groups so much. We get to cuss & discuss the trip for months. I also know that I gained a lot of info from DIS Boards prior to our first cruise and appreciate all the help I received. I am also an early riser and this serves as a way to get my mind moving in the morning.:surfweb:

My wife, on the other hand, doesn't normally get excited until right before the trip and then she will take a greater interest. I suspect she will start showing up on the board soon enough. I think she's glad to have this as an outlet for me so I'm not talking her to death with it :rotfl2:

Who was the anniversary that I didn't have listed? We want to be sure we get that on there. And by the way, if anyone is celebrating a birthday, anniversary, etc., make sure you tell them at check-in. It's also not a bad idea to tell you waiter and cabin steward. They do some special things for you on the ship.

***TOMORROW (10/15) IS THE CUTOFF FOR THE FE LIST so if you are on the fence, NOW is the time to post your information***

Thank you very much Shawn.
So, should I plan on doing FE for about 15 cabins?
I am doing per cabin, not per person. I just want to know so I can begin ordering my stuff. Also, how the heck do you all make your FE? I was going to purchase them but they are going for over $30 and think I can do it much less, is that correct? I can't sew but could I make one using a hot glue gun?

Thank you very much!
