A Dining Pre-Trip Report? Sure! LIVE report now completed!

We spent some time out by the pool this afternoon and DH ran over to get a snack to share. I was really tickled by his choice - VERY good!

Allears describes it this way: Grilled Chicken Salad - Served with mixed greens, dried cranberries, white cheddar cheese, croutons and white balsamic dressing $7.19

We also got some potato chips which came back to the room, a chocolate chip cookie that DS devoured, and a diet lemonade. DS wouldn't even wait for the photo, hence half a cookie. And the container on the tray is the dressing, not the lemonade, even though it looks like it...:rotfl:

DH's beverage of Champions:

July20II419.jpg

(yes, we snuck a Pepsi Product into WDW Cokeland...shhhhh!)

The salad was really so good. The apples were diced into small pieces, there was tons of dried cranberries, the chicken was not dry at all and very flavorful, the cheese melded perfectly, the croutons were soft and had a rye taste - perfect for stabbing with a fork and the white balsamic dressing was very tart and tangy. The whole salad was tart and sweet and so much better than you expect to get sitting next to a swimming pool.

DS ate some of the apple and cranberries, snorked the whole cookie and DH and I shared the salad. VERY good!

For dinner tonight we had Spoodles - and for anyone who has read any of my Dining Reports, you'll know I have a lovefest with Spoodles. I have tons of photos I will set to upload right now and I'll put together the review tomorrow morning while the boys get ready.

A couple notes though:

1. I am very proud of DH and I - we both ordered entrees we have never had before.

2. My DB and Fam have ADR's here for their family only this week on the night DDd and DSM and DH and I have our separate Date Nights. I told DB I was excited about eating there tonight because I love the food. And especially because they have dips and hummus. And my Hummus Hating DB now thinks I booked the ADR to mess with him. :confused3 Fortunately DSIL has a clue and assured him there would be things there he'll like. And truth be told, I only booked it so they'd have an ADR to fall back on since they wanted ESPN and I had no idea how busy it would be.

We also stopped at the BW Bakery for another CS credit (we are failing miserably at using them so far...) to have for breakfast so that will also be on tomorrow am.

Have a great night all!!!

I am super jealous how great does it feel to be surrounded by the magic right now?

Sounds like you are having fun -Thanks for the great and mouth watering reviews and pictures.

Loving the reviews so far.:goodvibes Artist Palette is very pretty looking and I really want that salad from Hurricane Hannah's about now. ;)

Looking forward to reading and seeing pictures from Spoodles, I love their dips and their Sangria. :)

Still following and loving your review!! Keep up the good work and continue enjoying the magic!!!

Can't wait to see the Spoodles pics, I too, have a lovefest with that place!;)

Mmm...hummus @ AKL. I need to add it to the confirmed list. Did you happen to notice if any of the items in the display case at AP had the DP symbol? SSR had severely cut back on the snack options this year and I was hoping some had been added back. TIA.

I love this place. I have had items I don't like here but for the most part I have really enjoyed everything. Previously on the DDP we have each had an appetizer and dinner and dessert so we'd leave stuffed. I tried not to do that this time. I say tried....

A copy of the menu - sorry sideways:

July2008III010.jpg

We started with the included drinks - coke, diet coke and "Mickey chocolate milk." This was a suggestion of our server. What, you may ask, is that?

July2008III014.jpg

How cool is that??? Chocolate milk in a fancy glass with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. DS felt really special and loved it. There were other kids seated around us and they didn't have this so he felt like Big Stuff.

We got the super soft house bread and olive oil with tapenade:

July2008III018.jpg

The bread was delicious as always, but the tapenade seemed to be missing a bit. Not as much as usual, but it was still very good.

I also ordered the Mediterranean Dips OOP:

July2008III020.jpg

The hummus and toasted pita that comes with it.

July2008III021.jpg

From left:
Tzaziki sauce - yogurt with very thinly julienned cucumber strips. Very, very good especially when mixed with the olives.
assorted olives and almonds - excellent, salty, good with all dips.
Chermoula sauce - Moroccan spices, very interesting on it's own and divine with the hummus or feta dip
Feta dip - my favorite...basically yogurt and feta cheese. SO good!!

DS's appetizer (came with meal)

July2008III019.jpg

Chicken noodle soup - both he and DH liked this a lot. The broth was not really traditional chickeny, but very tasty.

DS's meal:

July2008III026.jpg

Mickeyroni and Cheese. He declared this was the best of the three he has had so far (mainly because of the noodles!)

My entree:

July2008III028.jpg

This is the crispy chicken cutlet - served with serrano ham, Asiago cheese, marinated tomatoes, Arugula and fennel with a lemon vinaigrette.

Okay - my first thought was WOW is this huge! My next? I tried the outside part of the chicken and it was pretty good. I dipped it in the chermoula and it was better. Then I ate it with the ham, tomatoes, and some arugula and fennel with vinaigrette and it was GREAT!! The chicken was not greasy, very crispy and blended with the tangy veggies and salty ham and cheese perfectly. I really liked this and so did DH.

DH's entree:

Wood Grilled Pork Tenderloin - with house made gnocchi, spinach, mushrooms, onions and red wine sauce. He ordered it without the fungus.

This was also excellent - the tenderloin was smoky and well flavored and cooked perfectly so it was tender and not dry. The gnocchi were very nice and the sauce wasn't over powering. We both liked this, but I liked mine better. DH liked his better so we made good picks!

Dessert menu:

July2008III031.jpg

DS had already picked the kid's sundae and enjoyed that:

July2008III041.jpg

(also comes with vanilla ice cream, not pictured)

DH ordered the lemon dessert:

July2008III039.jpg

Lemon Pound Cake with Limoncello glaze and Zabaglione gelato

We both loved this - the cake was super heavy, dense and moist and the lemon flavor was fresh. The gelato tasted super boozy and was very good!!!

My dessert - a back story...

A few years ago at Le Cellier, I ordered a dessert that was described as Strawberries and Balsamic ice cream. I love fresh strawberries with sweetened balsamic vinegar and a little whipped cream. So it sounded perfect. NOT SO. It was a few small cookies with a thick vanilla cream on them (think whipped cream whipped too much and turned towards butter), strawberries, regular whipped cream, a little balsamic vinegar topped with a vanilla creme anglaise. Way too rich and just not what I had envisioned.

Fast forward to Spoodles yesterday:

Marscapone Cheesecake with a walnut crust served with fresh strawberries and a balsamic reduction.

Oh.My.God.

The cheesecake was light and super creamy - better than cream cheese cheesecake. The strawberries and tangy vinegar reduction were perfect with it and I ate the whole thing except for a taste for DH and some berries for DS.

Remember me not wanting to be full? Yeah, didn't happen...:rotfl:

July2008III037.jpg

(almost better than the cocomisu!)

And that, was Spoodles...!

Oh my. That marscapone cheesecake looks sooo good right now!! --drool--

Keep it comin', keep it comin'!

WOW that dessert looks amazing! I'm always too stuffed from a big bowl of mussels and the shrimp linguine to think about dessert. I can't give up either one of them!!;)

Leaving off the fungus :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: , that's way I order too, I mean without mushrooms, but we don't say fungus, but I should, lol.

Mmm...hummus @ AKL. I need to add it to the confirmed list.

When we were there in May, I was wanting some of that hummus real bad. we went to Victoria Falls (the little bar right above Boma's) and they have an appitizer there called the Taste of Africa that is to die for! :cool1: It's 3 different kinds of hummus and lots of delicious toasted pita pieces. It was more than enough for dh and I to share...I don't even think we finished it.

Wow - that meals looks great. You are so good at describing the flavors of the food - you should work for the Food Network :)
