A Dining Pre-Trip Report? Sure! LIVE report now completed!

Thanks for posting the Yachtsman review, we're trying that one too in November. I know I've been saying we're trying everything, this is going to be our "all new" trip, no repeat places, should be fun.

Sorry you're having bad weather, but hey, you're still in WDW!!:thumbsup2

The steaks look yummy. Looking forward to the tea review. I would love to do that sometime but I don't think DH and DS's would enjoy it. I need a trip with some females.

I can't wait to see your review of GF tea , it's one of my favorites. :goodvibes

I also need a trip with some females...my boys don't want to do afternoon tea or eat at the castle. :sad2: I don't get it, I do all the "guy" stuff!! :rotfl:

Those steaks looked really good! Nothing like onion rolls and garlic on date night...mmm! :rotfl:

We're doing some of the same - a few places are new, but we're trying to order different things at old places.

And the weather was funky!!! Crazy to watch, but fun. We walked over to Epcot for dinner in the rain, but the storm was over - so cool!

I hear you!! DH was willing to do this once when DS was at the Wonderland tea, but it didn't work out. My DSM loves tea and I knew this would be a fun ladies' day!

Loved it!!!

I also need a trip with some females...my boys don't want to do afternoon tea or eat at the castle. :sad2: I don't get it, I do all the "guy" stuff!! :rotfl:

SAME HERE!!! :rotfl: I almost felt like an imposter at BBBoutique since I have a son!

A quick breakfast before heading out - me to MK and DS and DH to Disney Quest with DDd, DB, and DNep.

Cheese, Egg and Ham Croissant - shared by DH and me (CS credit with a diet coke and a red Gatorade).

This was good - more of a traditional egg omelet instead of scrambled eggs, filled with gooey cheese and a ham slice on top. We both liked it a lot, but preferred the BW Bakery's yesterday.

DS had a huge blueberry muffin:

July2308001.jpg

This was excellent - very moist and cakey. He shared ;)

This was WONDERFUL!!! I thought the experience would be really nice, but didn't expect much from the food. Truth be told, some of it scared me. But I decided to try some new things and I had a great time!

I'll start with some basic photos, talk about the tea, and then the food.

(To answer the poster who asked about the china - this is the only pattern we saw there)

Love sugar cubes!!!

DNee opted for the Mrs. Potts Tea - "For the young tea lover in your party, we offer a variety of tea sandwiches, tuna salad, ham and cheese, peanut butter and jelly on white bread. We serve our Mad Hatter tea (chocolate milk), followed by a choice of two pastries "

She chose hot cocoa for her "tea" (yes, it was hot today but hey! The GF had AC!)

The server put a dollop of gorgeous whipped cream in the cup and poured the cocoa right over it:

DSM had chamomile tea (Chamomile Flowers - A tranquil and calming herbal infusion of sweet and fragrant golden chamomile blossoms combined for a mild and sweet taste. Soft and musty aroma combined with a smooth, apple-like finish.) and a glass of sparkling wine:

(ARGH! Sorry sideways!)

DSIL had the Mad Hatter tea (A blend of passion fruit, pomegranate, and vanilla for a clean and sweet finish. Perfect with decadent desserts and companions):

July2308112.jpg

I had the Lemon Verbena - (Naturally caffeine-free, a refreshing infusion of lemon verbena, lemongrass, lemon balm, and lemon peel; a favorite during the summertime.)

Thanks for the continued reviews! Glad to see Yachtsman on your list since we are now trying it in October. Yum!

And as for afternoon tea ... ahhhh, one of my all-time favs! Sad to see that they are still serving teas in french press ... no style and romance to that!

DSM had The Grand Tea - The classic English tradition of Afternoon Tea, Grand Floridian style. We offer you a variety of tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts, followed by your choice of our freshly baked tea pastries or English trifle, accompanied by a glass of Domaine Ste.-Michelle sparkling wine and your choice of tea. $25.50 per guest (Example of tea sandwiches may include: cucumber with watercress, shrimp salad with dill, chicken salad with almonds, grilled pear with gorgonzola, and egg salad, each on a different bread.)

DSIL and I had Buckingham Palace - Our traditional tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts complemented by fresh strawberries and cream, or a selection of freshly baked pastries, along with your choice of tea.

We all started with our tea sandwiches. DNee decided to go with all three ham and cheese:

July2308116.jpg

DSIL went with the cucumber with watercress, shrimp salad with dill, chicken salad with almonds, grilled pear with gorgonzola, and egg salad, each on a different bread and onion tartlet - just as on the menu:

July2308119.jpg

She liked everything but wasn't sure about the onion tartlet

DSM had all the tea sandwiches, tartlet and some pate (which she said I would not enjoy :rotfl: ):

July2308117.jpg

True to form, I decided to go with what I thought I'd like so I got watercress/cucumber and chicken almond salad with the onion tartlet:

July2308115.jpg

I loved these!!! The watercress/cucumber was delicious and light and the chicken salad had a nice crunch and creaminess. It probably tasted like chicken, but I remember thinking I couldn't really place what it was. The onion tartlet was confusing. Is it sweet? Savory? Both? Neither? I really enjoyed it though. :confused3

I also tried DSM's pear and gorgonzola. The pear part was excellent until I could taste the gorgonzola. Blech. I tried, I really did but blech.

Brenda! Your review was what really solidified this for me - it looked so good! And I totally agree with the press pots. Nice for coffee....tea? Not so much.

DSIL did get the tea cozy/Pope hat:

DNee very politely asked the server for more whipped cream for her cocoa and boy did she get it!!!

July2308125.jpg

The server put two huge scoops into the bowl and we all enjoyed it.

The rest of us? We had delicious fresh raisin scones, raspberry tartlets, and devonshire cream:

July2308127.jpg

This was so rich and amazing good. I added whipped cream to the raspberry tart and it cut the sweetness. YUM!!

A few shots of the desserts when we arrived:

July2308101.jpg

July2308102.jpg

DNee chose a chocolate strawberry and an eclair for her desserts. She liked the strawberry (dipped in whipped cream, of course!) and loved the eclair

July2308128.jpg

DSM ordered the English Trifle:

July2308129.jpg

This was wonderful, but very rich. She left a lot of it, but did like it very much.

DSIL and I both chose the strawberries and cream:

July2308131.jpg

Oh.My.God.

This was perfect. Fresh and sweet strawberries and fresh whipped heavy cream. SO GOOD!!

All in all, it was an almost perfect ladies' day and I loved spending it with the females in my family.

On the other side of town, DH and DS had lunch at Disney Quest and felt it was good, but nothing to write home about.

I'm off to bed now, but tomorrow I will get up tonight's Le Cellier review. In short - I think only one person out of nine actually ordered off the menu the way it was written, the rest of us all did substitutions and our fantastic server was fine with it. Let's just say the cream cheese mashed potatoes were very popular at our table!

Night all!!

I'm glad to hear that review helped and especially glad to hear that you didn't end up regretting your decision! :goodvibes

Woo hoo for the pope cozy!! :thumbsup2

Do you have any idea if you can buy the raspberry tartlets from GF Tea anywhere (other than at the tea)? DH would love them, but NOT the tea!

Just found your report-loving all your reviews!

I am doing the Tea on our trip in November and soooo excited about it. I also read oybolshoi's report on it-and after gawking at the pictures I knew I had to experience it myself!!

I am the only female in my family, but DH agreed-and is excited about it as well! :woohoo:

Looking forward to more...:surfweb:

Thanks so much!! I am really looking forward to this and mom confided it is what she is looking forward to most. Great pics

Great pics again! I feel like I am reliving my Spring vacation since you picked so many of our fav places! Thanks for that!
