Just once, here is the debate I would like to see:
Each candidate is in a sound-proof booth, like you see on the game shows. They have speakers, a microphone and a lgreen ight. The speakers are on all the time so each can hear what the other is saying, but the microphone and the green light is on a clock. Questions alternate from candidate A to candidate B.
1. The moderator asks a question - because of the speakers in the booths, both can hear the question.
2. Moderator presses a button and the green light and microphone goes on for one candidate so he/she can answer.
3. After two minutes, the mic is cut off and the green light goes out so the candidate knows the time is up. They can keep talking if they want, but no one will hear them because the mic is cut off.
4. When the light for the first candidate goes off, the mic and light for the other candidate goes on, and that candidate is now on the clock for two minutes.
5. Each gets a one minute rebuttal following the format above.
6. Go back to step one.
Let's see how they would do with THAT kind of format.
