A Commando Trip Report 6 Days Almost 100 On The Move Hours!

Ron, I can't wait to hear about Harmony Barber Shop, I've never been but it seems so cool and great for kids.

All of Part 2 will be about The Harmony Barber Shop, I can say most following the TR will learn something new, How can a simple haircut be a big deal:confused3 The plot thickin's:rolleyes1

First a little story, In 2003 when my wife and I spent or Honeymoon at WDW, we were in one of the shops on MS, we just bought Bride & Groom ears, we were stopped and cornered by 4 men:scared1: who asked when we got married, we told them 2 days ago:goodvibes, Well they then announced to evryone in the store and a crowd formed:confused3, they then sang "When You Wish Upon A Star" to us:goodvibes These men were The Dapper Dans:yay: It was something we will never forget:goodvibes

Last year on our trip, we got on the Horse Drawn Trolly, when it was getting ready to leave, 4 men jump on, Yes it was the Dapper Dans, this was the 1st time my son ever saw them, He had a Birthday Button on and they sang Happy Birthday to him:goodvibes, and sang the whole way to the Castle:cool1: Once again something we will never forget:goodvibes

Now you may be asking yourself what does this have to do with a haircut:confused3. Well my wife said my son and I should get one there this year, after doing some research I stumbled on a few things that closed the deal:goodvibes
- You can make advanced ressie's
- And the most important one - At Noon and as far as I know only Noon, the Dapper Dans sing in the Barber Shop

Although I could not confirm or deny that this info was accurate, I went on a whim and made a Noon ressie for my son and I to get a haircut:woohoo:

It was around 11:45 when we arrived and checked in, Colin and Taylor were outside waiting, a few more of the Dads were supossed to show up but missed it:confused3, I got in the chair right at noon and my son got into the one next to me a few minutes later, Around 12:07 here come the Dapper Dans:woohoo: Dressed in festive suits:goodvibes, My son was wearing the Bday button again (wanted to see if lightning would strike twice:confused3) Frist song they did was Happy Birthday:confused3 They then did a few Christmas Songs, and talked about Olive the Other Reindeer:goodvibes

Now since we were the only 2 in chair getting a haircut, it was like they were putting on the show just for us (we had the best seats in the house:goodvibes) We then got a pic with the Dapper Dans in the middle of us with the Barbers behind us:goodvibes. I've crossed paths with them 3 times now, and we will never forget any of them:goodvibes

So now we will be getting haircuts everytime we visit (You'll never guess what time:confused3)

Once again a little planning and research pays off:cool1:

Next Part 3 a few park hours before dinner

great update ron!!! lighting does strike three times!! i would give that a try next trip but im missing one main ingredient.:lmao: see post #47!:lmao: glad it worked out for you i know you were looking forward to it.:thumbsup2

:lmao: I guess a little hair would help. Not sure but I think they also offer a shave:confused3

Haircuts at a REAL Barbershop with a REAL Barbershop Quartet. It just doesn't get any better than that!

One of my fondest memories with my Grandfather was going to a Barbershop. Mom always cut my hair when I was a kid and now, well, you just can't find a true Barbershop anymore.

Great trip report so far. Taylor and I had fun meeting everyone and I look forward to hearing more. Here are a few pics.

Thanks for posting the pics Colin:cool1: I love the one in the Barber shop, the way you are in the pic, in the mirror, thats AWESOME:thumbsup2

I was glad to get that mop off my head, I was way overdue, I was starting to look like one of the Beatles:lmao:

Now in this pic , a few minutes later my son is in the empty chair:goodvibes, and a couple minutes later the Dapper Dans arrive:yay:

One thing that kept running through my head was since there were only a few chairs in there, am I sitting in a chair that someone famous was in , a VIP, maybe a President:confused3, :goodvibes. Well I will probably never know, but it was a cool thought at the time:cool1:

I had FP's for Space Ranger Spin so we headed over after the haircut. After that we walked through Fantasyland looking for Characters, nope nothing going on. As we walked past Columbia Harbour House, I spotted the Bell Ringing Greeter (Dressed like a Paul Revere type, with hat and coat), we walked over and asked if we could take a pic of him with my son, he was more than happy to do so, he knelt on one knee, put his hat on my son and gave him the bell:banana:. Once again someone who most people walk by, turned out to be well worth stopping for:confused3

We then got a FP for the Jungle Cruise, and headed to the Tiki Room, while waiting for the next show I asked a CM if my son could wake up Jose to start the show, she asked what his name was and told us to sit in a aisle seat, sure enough he was picked to wake up Jose and started the show:goodvibes

We then hit Country Bears and Jungle Cruise:cool1: It was now around 3 and we had to get ready to head out for a dinner ADR at Chef Mickey's for what I thought I had all planned out to be perfect, but man I was WRONG:scared1:

To be Continued
Day 5- Part 4 - My perfect dinner plan goes down the tubes. What The Beverly Happened:confused3

Place- Chef Mickey's

This story starts last Nov 09, when we were in line for what I thought was a 4pm Adr, it turned out it was for 5 on toured the Contemp, when we got back we were 4th in line and found out they had a opening ceromony:scared1: We missed out then but were not going to miss it this year, well so I thought:confused3

We arrive at CM around 4pm, we are the 1st on line:cool1: about 25mins later the next party arrives, a grandma with a grandson my son's age, they play for alittle while:goodvibes, about 4:55 they start checking everyone in and giving out beeper's, once again we are the 1st checked in, after checking in we took our pic and sat down in the waiting area.

Around 5 I see the lady and kid that were behind us at the desk, next thing I know they are on the other side, I got a bad feeling about this and was starting to get a attitude only someone from NJ could get:eek: Now the kid is on the mic. anouncing Chef Mickey's is now open and slaps five with the whole crew, while walking with Mickey to there table.:headache:

Now I'm PO'D and my wife goes to the desk, cause now I'm saying call the cops I've been robbed:scared1: When she asked the lady at the desk how they chose who opened CM's she said you have to be 1st in line and have a party of 3 or more, Well hello we had all that, they were 2nd in line and had a party of 2 ( we found out in line that his parents went off somewhere else and grandma was watching him that nite:confused3) All the lady behind the desk can say is oh I'm sorry.

Now we are all upset during dinner, thay come around with the pics they took, we turned them down without even looking at them:headache: alltough the food was OK we will never go back just on principle:confused3

Next Day 5- Part 5- MVMCP:cool1:

 you get screwed buddy. if it makes you feel better, i wont eat there anymore either.:thumbsup2

After our train wreck of a dinner, we headed back to the MK for MVMCP, we really didn't know what to expect, but since we have done the Holloween party, we had a idea of what to do.

- go to ALL meet & greets 1st
- no rides
- 2nd parade
- see as many shows as we can

with a 5hr time window, you really have to move to get anything done:scared1:

My wife wanted to go the Princess Meet & Greet said 20min, (we never did them, son's not big into them:confused:) When we got into the room we were shocked to also find the Prince's were also there:cool1:
we ended up auto's and pics from Princess Aurora & Prince Phillip, Cinderella & Prince Charming, Snow White & The Prince:goodvibes

We than meet up briefly with Barry (Dis Dad), but was able to get a quick pic:woohoo: We then saw Lady Tremaine and her 2 daughters (if I write them down, will spell them horribly wrong:lmao:)

Over where the stroller parking is for PP and IASW they had The 7 Dwarfs, of course we were stopping for this:woohoo:

In Adventureland we found Lilo & Stitch, Alladin & Jasmine. All of whom were wearing different outfits then normal:cool2:

It was getting close to the parade time and we staked out a spot near the shooting gallary:), I noticed a couple of characters walking down the street taking pics, so of course I'm on my way, it was Wendel and Big AL (score I didn't know there was even a chance of Big Al:confused3)

The Parade was AWESOME, I think one of the best points was there was a little elbow room, since most go to the Hub, or Main Street:lmao:
The little girl next to us started freaking out when the wooden soldiers came by:rolleyes1

We were able to get a great spot to see the fireworks near The Crystal Palace at the railing along the river, (never have to worry about the tallest person wearing a hat or something getting in front of you:goodvibes)

After the fireworks we saw Rusty Cutlass (the Pirate Band over across from POTC) where thet sang a bunch of Pirate Christmas Classics:goodvibes

We then headed back slowly to the buses since it was almost midnite. :goodvibes

Day 6- Part 1 - Son Becomes A Jeti:woohoo:

great update ron!!! you got alot of char. pics!!:thumbsup2 thats a good spot to watch fireworks.we try to hit that when we are the for the fireworks. glad to hear your day turned out better than it started.:thumbsup2

The day started out Great, Actully the Whole day was great except for the dinner part, All in All that dinner was the only real downer for the entire trip, so in a way I guess I'm pretty lucky:goodvibes

We get to HS around 8:20, Park opens at 9. We were 1st ones at the turnstyle we were at:cool1: After we make it through the turnstyle its down Hollywood Blvd to the rope drop. We have a affrimitive plan my wife is heading to TSM for FP's, And my son and I will partake in the most important mission of the day, Jedi Training sign ups:yoda: Rope drops and we are on our way, now people are running to get to Star Wars to sign up running past CM telling them to walk, when we get there someone we were talking to while waiting says Hunter was here 1st:goodvibes, hey thats us, I guess sometimes following the rules pays off:worship:

We sign up and get the 1st slot 9:55am:woohoo: My wife catches up to us and we are not moving from the area, Darth Vader & a Storm Trooper come out for a meet & greet:darth: We get in line and I tell Darth he will be battleing him at 9:55, Darth reaches for his Lifesaber, and the Strom Trooper points his gun:lmao: What a great shot:yay:

Now it's time for the show, during practice the Jedi Trainer could tell my son did it alittle too well (he's a navy belt in karate has been doing it since he was 2, and knows how to use a staff, and wooden sword, quite well:lmao:) He is Darth Vaders last fight, Darth says to him, I've been waiting for you, Come and join the dark side. My son had the focused karate look on his face:lmao: Darth says Let your anger out. The Jedi Trainer says I don't think you want that:lmao: He stepped in to help Darth block a few swings:lmao:
After the show they all got there Jedi Training Certificate and he still talks about how he beat Darth Vader in battle:yoda:
I was very proud of my son (after spending thousands on karate, to know that he will use what he knows, if he encounters the bad guy:thumbsup2)

We then did Indiania Jones, my son kinda liked it , but it was a good few zzz's for my wife and I:lmao:

Then we went to the Meet & Greet for Mike & Sulley, lucked out and were 3rd in line:cool1:

After that we headed to the Arts & Animation Building for the Meet & Greet with Lotso & The Incredibles:banana:

It was around 12:30 and we were going to use our Fp for TSM, before we left, as we were getting close, we saw the Army Men off to the side doing a show, so we went to watch it and got pics with them, by the time we got to TSM they were making announcements that it was temp closed due to a tectnicial difficulties:scared1: It's a little after 1 and we got to get to Epcot, so we head out, on our way out they got TSM working again, but since we already did a few times the 1st day we leave, we pass a family of 3 who's son was talking about it and the dad told him the line might be too long, well his son was carring on, being a Dad myself I know the feeling  so I went up to them and asked the kid if he wanted to go on TSM, of couse he said yes, I gave his Dad our 3 FP's that we had and told him since the time was already past, they could get on whenever they got to it, the look on his face was like a huge wieght off his shoulder, I was gld to give someone alittle pixie dustpixiedust::goodvibes

Next Epcot still alot to get done

I'm going to try to finish the TR this week, still alot of good stuff coming:goodvibes
