Remember the metal seats at Fantasmic as well as other Disney venues. Or the cold concrete ground when waiting for the parade. Disney was making a mint the other night selling fleece blankets on those push carts with the light up toys.

If you are heading down be sure to pack a small blanket to lay out under yourself.

Also don't forget your gloves, hats and scarfs. I paid $8 the other night for a pair of gloves that I could have gotten for $1.50 at Walmart.:headache:

Thanks for the tip. I'm considering packing a fleece blanket to lay out now. Now to search for my other mitten....

great tip! we leave on saturday and I have been stressing about how to pack for the weather... I didn't even think about bringing a blanket for parades and all that! thanks :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tip! Just had dd go get her Minnie blanket and we'll take that to sit on, wrap up with, since Fantasmic is on our can't miss list!

I bring along a tinfoil-like emergency blanket that comes in a small packet. It is surprisingly warm when you place it on your lap. Embarrasses my DD13 terribly, but she is happy to use it when she gets cold!

Regardless of the weather, I always sit on my ponchos during parades, shows or fireworks. I don't like sitting on the floor very much, and it helps when the floor is wet. Last May I did this before Wishes. Two minutes and everyone around me was sitting on their ponchos! :rotfl:

But it's a good idea to switch them for blankets on the cold weather!! Great tip! :goodvibes

most of you must be from sothern climates as those temps arent that bad
but then again we get funny looks from every one when its chilly and we are enjoying not haveing a heavy jacket and long johns on

Actually, I'm from ND and can't wait to get down to FL this Saturday! Love to see green trees and grass! Won't see that again for many months!

i know what you mean next thursday cant come quick enough

oh to see ground that doesnt have all sorts of white stuff covering it

the funny thing is it looks like we will have a warm up when we leave on vaction

Tomorrow it is supposed to be terribly cold here. I hope what happened to us last year doesn't happen again this year...the plane couldn't take off because it was too cold. It had to warm up to -24 degrees F before we could take off. I had never heard of that before! The weather is supposed to be better here Saturday!

I'm from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It's about 40ºC/100F in here these days.

I CANNOT HANDLE COLD WEATHER!!! :lmao:

It is cold to those that are from the southern US.

My best friend and I went on a trip to Disney in November in 2004 (stayed off property). We woke up one morning, put The Weather Channel on and saw that it was 30ish and snowing in Boston (where we are from). It showed daytime temps of 60+ for Orlando that day. We dressed in shorts, tshirts, jackets and packed sweatshirts. We were going down in the elevator and a lady said to us, rather snootily "It's not summer you know". I'm not usually one that would even acknowledge that with a reply, however she got me on a bad morning. I turned to her (there were only the 3 of us in the elevator) and said "It's 30degrees colder and snowing where we live, this IS summer". Just as I finished the elevator doors opened and we walked out to take the bus to WDW, lol.

Good idea! Gloves and a beanie is always a good idea. Put it in a locker for day time and get it out at night. It gets chilly!

Everything is covered in ice this morning. Thank goodness I had an old insurance card to scrape it off my windshield. They are talking about sleet and snow in parts of Florida which I hope doesn't come. The theme parks must be making a fortune selling coats, hats and gloves.

...after shelling out $$$ to buy a Mexican blanket while in Epcot one year. :rotfl2:

This is one of the reasons we are still bringing a stroller even though our kids are getting older. We are going to load up the stroller with blankets/sweatshirts/gloves/hats etc for our trip in 2 weeks! Even sitting on a bench for a break - you need something to sit on like a blanket or sweatshirt.

We usually go in the winter and we always see people lining up to buy hats/sweatshirts. Its hard, because you have to pack more and dress in layers but the low crowds make it worthwhile!!

Snow?! Holy cow.

30 degrees may seem warm to some northern folks in January but 30 degrees when you are walking around outside or sitting on metal seats is a whole different ballgame. This cold snap is driving me nuts, I would be so bummed if it was this cold when I went to disney. I'm freezing my behind off in GA!

Us too! Kids are 7 and up but we will have a stroller to hold the extra stuss. DH would ens up making us go back to our cabin rather then pay $60 for a sweatshirt!

Now there saying it may snow in Orlando and farther south even. Here's a link from the Orlando Sentinel:

I realize that if you are coming from the North and see high of 49 that you are thinking..."That's not bad" but the evenings have been in the 20's and 30's. When you are outside all day and then sit on a metal seat, it is likely you will get cold.
