A CM said WHAT???

When we were at WDW in September it was just me and DD7.. we were in line to see Queen of Hearts in front of the Teacups to get an autograph... We stood there for maybe 5-10 minutes and when we were the second in line she announced that Queen of Hearts needed a quick break and would be back in about 10 minutes.. No problem.. we decided to wait.. We turned around and saw the queen coming but right in front of her was White Rabbit.. so my daughter said she wanted to rabbits autograph first and then we'd go back to the queen.. The line for the rabbit was right next to us, so we got out of line and into the line for the rabbit.. we were about 5 people back.. the CM who was there which was the same one who was with Queen when she went to break looked at us and rolled her eyes!! she said "you cant come over here and then go over there!! You were already in line.".. I looked at her and very rudely said "why not?? Do you have a problem with that?? We fully intend to go to the back of that line when we are done!! Why does it matter to you?" she just turned around and huffed.. The other CM who was there was just looking with her mouth wide open..

It sounds like the CM didn't handle it very well, but in her defense, people try to line-hop for the characters ALL THE TIME. It gets very old. Obviously you knew that there were two lines - one for the Rabbit and one for the Queen - but many, many other people think it's one line for two characters and will nonchalantly step in front of a line for Pluto after they've seen Donald, and then get angry when a CM asks them to step to the back of the line. She'd probably been dealing with that all day and you got the brunt of it.

I took my grown daughters to the Food and Wine Fest at Epcot last year. Now, my daughters are straight A students, wonderful kind human beings, and strong independant women. They also, like many their age, have tatoos, piercings, a mohawk, blue hair, and a different way of dressing. I don't mind, they work full time, never get into any trouble, they can look how they want.

Anyway, we were walking near England at Epcot, and the girls noticed that Mary Poppins was in a shop. They were thrilled (Disney always seems to turn them into nine year old girls), and wanted to go meet Mary. As they walked up to her, Mary looked down at the little boy in front of her, pointed at my daughters, and said, "See? That's what happens to bad girls who don't listen to their nanny. They end up looking like that!"

I was furious, but my daughters both pulled me out of there laughing their heads off. To this day, they still crack up when they talk about the day they were "burned" by Mary Poppins.

:umbrella:

That is an awful thing to say to a couple of young women - no matter how strong they are, that can be crushing. Granted, when people dress like you described, they are showing their independence - but for goodness sake, a cruel remark from Mary Poppins! What is the "WORLD" coming to?

Lat week we were walking up the ramp to the monoraill to get to MK. There was an older man in his 60's in front of us in a wheelchair by himself. He gets to the top of the ramp and the CM opens the gate to the handicap area for him to get ready to load onto the monorail. The CM asks him how many in his party and the man replies 1. The CM then says in such a loud voice that everyone turned around...."who goes to Disney by themselves, don't you have anyone to go with you?" The man was so embarassed he just looked at the ground and didn't say anything, everyone was just shocked that this CM did that. It truly ruined my night, I was just so sad for this man and I couldn't get the episode out of my head of seeing him so sad and embarassed, I still get sad thinking about it.

My story happened two years ago at AK, right after the parade, this elderly cast member overheard my nieces speaking in spanish, he approached us and started talking, he said he was from Cuba and asked where we were from, and when my nieces told him he said: “that’s impossible señorita, you’re white!”. :confused3

My heart breaks for this man. Pixie dust to him!

I have gone to WDW many times by myself. I find it is fun to go alone or with a friend. And I can't believe that the CM has never seen anyone at WDW by themselves. That is incredible!

A CM walking by must have heard him because he said in a REALLY nasty tone "Well he is dead a long time you know!" I mean the CM was completely nasty! Like we were stupid or something.

DH took the bait... He turned to the CM & said "Really? Walt Disney is dead? I had NO idea! Oh my God! This is awful! When did he die? When was the funeral? Why didn't anyone tell me?!?". Then DH proceeded to "breakdown" in sobs (really he was laughing inside, but the man can sure imitate a crying sob!).

The CM was shocked & obviously did not know what to do. He just stood there dumbfounded.

It was my turn next. I said "How can you ruin the magic for people like this? I should report you to guest services!" as I was mock comforting DH.

The poor CM was just shocked. :rotfl2:

DH looked up & was as calm a s could be. He then told the CM he did know Walt was dead, and while we understand there had been a lot of complaints about the Castle Cake, we were not talking to him & a CM should not be so rude to guests, espeically ones who were not even talking to him.

We then walked away. The CM still stood there for a minute with this look of absolute horror on his face.

I still get a good laugh when I think of him. Hopefully he was never rude to a guests again.

Ok, after this one I just have to subscribe to this thread!!! This is so funny!!!

Im sure you are absolutely right.. But I certainly didnt appreciate the rolling of the eyes and the huffing.. all she had to do is say there are 2 separate lines for each of the characters and then I would have told her that I understand that and when we're done we will go back to the other line.. But Im sure thats what it was..

my DD met up with a girl from England a few years ago so the 6 of us went to E nite--we had the most fun!!! :rotfl:

the girls were just turning into the gates by the HM and we were quite a few steps behind them!!!

All of a sudden we heard them both scream!!

we were laughing cause we knew a CM was really into the character :rotfl:

we they set us up good---as we walked in the CM walked past us nothing strange happned--well then he came back up behind us and yelled boo---

both us moms screamed!!!

then were waiting by the doors and the Cm is giving theyre speech and my DD said come on smile you know you want too :rotfl:

We were just there from 12/4 to 12/11 and at MGM my daughter and I were near the park entrance waiting for family to arrive and we heard someone behind us get ready to spit -- you know, when they make that "ahwking" noise...and you knew it was going to be a big one by the sound. Well, a CM (street sweeper) walks in front of us and spits on the road. YUCK!!!! :earseek:

Not really a shocking or interesting story, but it bugged me.

I happened to catch the returning leg of the AK parade after I got off the safari today (which i was pretty happy about since I've never seen the AK christmas parade and it'll probably be the only time I get to see it this year) and I ended up standing next to someone who was obviously a parade performer on her day off. So not only did I have to hear the parade performers come over and chat with her until they had to move along or throw the parade out of whack, but with every character that came by I got to hear a name shouted out to see that was indeed the person they thought it was or not. And of course Pluto, who happens to be one of my favorite characters, gave an enthusiastic nod when yelled to. Way to ruin my parade experience. blech.

This wasn't so much what a cast member said, but more how they acted...Dh and I were at the entrance to Soarin and the posted wait time was 60 minutes, so as we walked up to the podium we told the cm we'd use the single rider line. He looked at us and said fine, you go left (to my Dh) and you go right. We split up no problem and each of both basically walked on, there was no line at all. It wasn't even until later that I thought about it and figured the cm split us up on purpose, there was no reason why we couldn't have both headed down the same side of the line. What the cm didn't know was that after 10 days of total togetherness a few minutes apart wasn't so bad!

We have been pretty fortunate with our CM encounters but we did have the waitress at CRT tip a full glass of ice water over on our table. It was right after the main meal and just before dessert. The table cloth was SOAKED and ice cubes littered the table. Then instead of providing a fresh table cloth or even trying to clean the table, she just served us the desert on top of the soaked cloth and ice.

We couldn't believe it, we were so shocked when the desert arrived that we didn't say anything for a moment (we just looked across at each other is disbelief) and by that time she was long gone.

We finally just rolled up the table cloth, ate our desserts and made a vow that we would not let this ruin our trip. We look back on it now and kind of laugh.
Something similar happened to me and my family. We were in Disney this past June and staying at the Grand Floridian. One morning we were having breakfast in the Cafe and my dad knocked over my glass of ice cold water with ice cubes and it landed all over me. When this happened our waiter was standing RIGHT NEXT to me and he Never once did anything to help to clean up the mess. Didn't offer any towels, nothing. He just looked over at out table after the incident and walked away. He saw what happened and did nothing. I am still in shock. We never said anything, but we did stiff him on a tip. He got $5 for a meal that was worth well over that.

Jeeze I worked at a restraunt in my town and would have given them towels and helped them out and such. I would think Disney servers would have been all over that one. Guess not...

Oh and welcome to the DIS :wave2:

Back in June, I was in line at the ASMu food court when about 10 Brazilian youths stepped in front of me to order. I flagged down a CM ask told her about the cutting in line. She was very apologetic, and went to say something to the people that had stepped in front of me. After about 45 seconds of attempted dialogue with them, the CM came back to me, rolled her eyes and said " BRB I have to go find a Manager that speaks Brazilianese" At that point i couldnt help but giggle. The CM came back in just a few seconds with a manager. The manager asked why i was giggling. I told the manager about the CM refering to Portugese as Brazilianese. The manager winked at me and with a deadpan stare said " IT may be Portugese or Brazilianese to some , but here it is the universal language of "GIGGLING PRETEEN GIRLS" :rotfl2: The manager then offered to comp my meal, i looked at him and declined saying that his response was worth more than ANY free meal

We just got back this past Thursday. On our first night at POFQ my husband noticed that his "Key to the World" wasn't working for the meal plan. No problem, I had mine with me. We get back to the room and discovered that while my card worked for the food, it did not let me into the room. No problem again, I had the hubby.

The next morning we went down to the front desk and waited in line to get both cards fully working. We told the CM what happened, and she looked me up and down sourly. She asked if I was keeping the card next to another credit card. "No ma'am. I'm keeping it all alone in my back pocket." She asked if I had a cell phone in the same pocket. "No ma'am. It's in the back pocket all by itself." She clearly didn't believe me and proceeded to lecture me for almost 5 minutes about proper card use and storage, maybe I should keep it in the front pocket all by itself, blah blah blah.

I then slightly raised the front of my sweatshirt to show her my very pregnant belly, and the maternity pants that have NO front pockets and told her firmly that there was no way I could do that. Also, that due to my present state the only thing I was carrying was this tiny little card, all by itself in my back pocket and unless my butt is magnetic, there is no way I have demagnetized this card. Then she tells me that sitting on the card can demagnetize it too.

All of this just to get 2 working passes which should have been done and handed over with a smile. Instead, it's a 10 minute ordeal complete with a disdainful lecture.

If these cards are so fragile that sitting with them in you back pocket renders them useless, they might want to look into a new vendor, methinks. It became a running joke for the rest of the week. "Oh no, you dropped your card too hard on the table. Time to get a new one!" :rolleyes1
