A CM just called me crazy...

Thanks for all the well wishes! Everyone here is so friendly, I love it!

I am subscribed to the November 2008 code watch! I am hoping around August I'll be lucky enough to get a code of some sort.

However, the AAA membership may be worth it! I drive a lot for my job, so it wouldn't be a bad investment.

I don't know if they give you a code if you already booked. I have read that people have canceled and then received a code...? It all seems so random. I did sign up my fiance for the dvd, etc. since the ressie in under my name, so we'll see.

Has anyone ever booked a package and then received a discount code? Either by email, mail, or by calling back? It seems like once you've booked they "take you off the list"! Would definitely like to know if there is still hope?!

Just happened to me Friday. I booked a month or so ago, just got a pin in the mail Friday for 40 percent off. Its for different dates, but they didn't take me off the list.

It was my first ever pin, pretty neat.

I don't know a lot, but I base my info on the "Historical Information on Walt Disney World Resort Discounts" page on the Mousesavers website. (You can find a link to the page by going to the FAQ section.) While the page does list discounts that were made available for certain times of the year, the dates those discounts were released, and to whom they were available, the site does not give you every detail about the discount. It just says if it was a room-only discount, package offer, free dining, etc.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to this page, so I'll just give directions. Go to mousesavers dot com, look on the left for the "Frequently Asked Questions" link. On the next page, click on "Frequently Asked Questions about Walt Disney World" (link located at the top of the page). When this page loads, click on the link: "Hotels and Vacation Packages." This brings you down to a list of questions. The first question is "When will new discounts become available?" The answer to this question contains this link, "chart of release dates for the deepest discounts." Click on this and you should find yourself on the historical discounts page. :thumbsup2 Good luck!

Thanks I found it and have saved it to favorites!!

You can definately get and use a code if you have already booked thru AAA! I did this year and I got one for a friend for April. However the TAs frequently don't know about them till you tell them so keep looking!! Where is the November code thread? I'd like to subscrube!!

The good news is you're going at a great time for discounts. For the past 2 years there have been discounts offered for your dates, but these weren't announced until mid-August. Definitely keep an eye out for email offers, but don't panic if you don't ever get a code. Just be patient (I know...It's NOT easy for me either) ;) The discounts will come - I'd be willing to bet on it.

The last two years we went in Nov,starting the second weeekend for about ten days. The first Nov we used AAA as we had in the past, though I think I've actually thrown out codes that were sent other years - aarrggghhh - not realizing they were actually very good and valid.

Last year we did get a great code in mid Aug that I called on in mid Sep just in time and was shocked at the room and ticket deal, it was great! We were planning on going for a long time just took a while to get down to booking. This year will do sooner!
My question is, if I don't get some other code soon, should I book with a AAA discount and then, if the deals come out again in Mid Aug for my dates in Nov, could I apply that instead to that reservation and drop the AAA or possibly just make a new reservation right away? We'd stay at CBR again and no dining plan.
Any advice? Thanks!:)

Sorry you were treated this way.Though I can't say I am surprised.I too was treated like a criminal by a Disney Cm for asking about a discount.I completed the survey and spoke to a mgr and was pretty much told "Sorry too bad". Sadly, I think Disney lost the Customer Service Magic years ago.

Since 2005, i've booked with AAA first and then modified my reservation when something better came along (my AAA agent got me free dining in 2005). Last year, and for our upcoming trip, I booked AAA room only before rebooking with a discount on a package. I highly recommend doing this if you have AAA. And if you don't have AAA, but as the OP has said, you drive a lot, I can highly recommend the AAA service. They've saved my rear on more than one occasion.

Advice: Just make sure you know the rack rate prices before you accept a quote from your AAA agent - there are a few less than observant AAA TAs out there. Also know that you do not have to use your local AAA TA if you don't think they sound very Disney savvy. There are plenty of folks on this board who will happily PM you and provide you with an email address for their own terrific AAA TA.

I was told last week there was no way I could just call and ask for a PIN code. This was the first time I had ever tried but they said that unless I had the exact code, they were not even allowed to look. They have become much less "friendly" over the years. I wonder if it is another case of outsourcing...

This the the response I received as well...only I called over a year ago.

Maybe it's in the wording. By that I mean you both specifically asked for "PIN codes." When I called this year to book our stay, I lucked into 40% off without even asking for a discount. However, in the past, I have kept the conversation light between the CM and I and asked if there might be any special offers for me for my dates, or perhaps other dates that I might consider. It has worked for me once, and it has worked for other members of my family and friends too. :hippie:

My experience has been hit or miss -- I think it is really the mood of the cm that answers the phone.

I asked for a pin code last year, after reading on another site that people had them when they called, but didn't get the email or postcard (lost in the mail or mixed in with junk mail maybe) -- one cm was beyond rude, but another was so helpful and pleasant.

I will say, name-calling is wrong, regardless. A cm who name calls or otherwise insults a guest is unacceptable, and I would have reported that cm asap. Actually, I doubt it is too late to report, if you recall the person's name. You'd be doing yourself, and the rest of us, a favor by ensuring that cms know such behaviour won't be tolerated.

We have our Disneymoon planned for November, but we haven't gotten any pins or codes or whatever, and we really want to cut down the price of our vacation.

I always read to at least call and ask if by chance there's something attached to your name/reservation even if you haven't gotten a pin/code.

So I talk to a CM, who doesn't even ask me for my reservation #, and she says I am "crazy" to think I could just call and ask for a discount and ends with saying I am "seriously misinformed about their discount procedures"

Not very magical nor nice to hear seeing as how we're going for our honeymoon and it'll be our first time going to WDW. :confused3

NASTY AND VERY UNMAGICAL TO ME!!!

That CM was rude. Sometimes I wanna say to them "yeah, that's nice, but how bout you do your job and just check it for me".

What I would do is transfer your reservation over to a travel agent who specializes in Disney and have them keep calling and watching for codes. Let them deal with the CM's and you can just relax and know you are taken care of.

no excuse to write off rude behavior as "having a bad day".

It has been my experience that you have to ask for specific discounts. That's where these boards are so helpful! Also Mousesavers is a great resource for what's available! Remember that a lot of discounts don't happen until nearer to your arrival dates. Last year I booked my September trip with AAA rates (20% off rack @ POP). THEN the AP discounts came out for just the last two days of my trip. It was a small savings, but I definitely wanted the lower price. It took me three calls to find a CM who understood what I wanted and how to do it. I ended up with two different reservations, but did not have to change rooms and my ME reservations were spot on. I did have to stop by the front desk to "check in" for the last two days of my stay. Keep checking, but I think you have to ask for specific discounts when you call:teacher:. They won't "find" one for you. The CM you describe certainly needs to be reported, though. She should be able to explain without being rude!

I had a similar experience. The CM acted like I was an idiot for even asking if there might be a discount/pin code. He actually said he was not aware they existed.

Not too long ago I called to change the dates of my vacation that I had booked with the bounceback and the CM I talked to was so helpful. I was able to add 2 more tickets days and another night at the CR for only $75more than what I had booked. She actually helped me break down the packaging prices to find what was the best deal and the CM that helped me originally book the bounceback said she was not allowed to do this. So there are some great CMs out there.:thumbsup2

Monica, I agree with other posters. Keep calling back until you get someone helpful. Good luck!:goodvibes

wow...this thread is a year old! how did it pop up now?

LOL!! I was thinking the same thing! I was just reading along and **BOOM** there was a post from me. The further into it I got, I realized I had posted MULTIPLE times and I began to really worry about myself. I was thinking, "WHEN the heck did I post this?!?":lmao: THEN I noticed it was a year old. :rotfl:

I know this is not the point of your post, but do you take a Disneymoon every year? Your signature says your Disneymoon was in Sept.,2008.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Her original post was in 2008, the same year as her Disneymoon. This thread is a year old, thus the confusion.

If you get a AAA card you can just call Disney and have your current reservation switched to the AAA rate if available. They have a certain number of rooms per time period. I have only had trouble getting a AAA room once or twice.

I had received a postcard in the mail and knew weren't going to Disney since we are going on a cruise so I threw it in the trash before reading. Then we decided to go to Disney two days before the cruise. I called and said that I had received something but wasn't sure what it was and asked for them to check. My account said that I had received the 40% off code and the CM applied it to my new reservation.
