if booking in late may early june for a late July/Aug trip(our first trip to DVC as a member) as wondering what resort we might be able to book 1 month or so out? just wondering what we could expect? almost a last minute booking if you can call it that. and we really dont care other then room for 2 adults and 2 teen girls:scared1:

this is when we can go on vacation(2010 only) and when we can start paying for DVC. thanks for and ideas!!!!!

At less than 60 days out, it is possible that you may not be able to book a continuous multi-day stay at any WDW DVC resort. You may be able to piece together a stay if you don't mind moving around during your stay. Experiences vary - but most reports of successful last minute bookings involve moving between resorts or room sizes.

SSR, OKW and AKV have the most rooms, so your chances are better for those than the smaller resorts. Usually, 1 bedrooms book more slowly than 2 bedrooms or studios.

Keep in mind that you get within 60 days of arrival, unreserved DVC inventory is sent to CRO to rent to the general public. Proceeds from those rentals less a "commission" for CRO come back to DVC and are used to help reduce annual dues. This is called breakage income in the budget. DVC members still have access to the inventory, but are competing with the general public for it on a first come, first served basis.

well that is good to know. thanks CarolMN

School is still out for most members in late July and early Aug, so availability may not be so good 60 days or less out from the start of your trip. If you were talking about late August, you might have a better chance because lots of schools are already in session then.

If 60 days out is what you plan to book as a DVC member in the future, DVC may not be the best choice for you. Most members book from 7 to 11 months out.

During the summer...I've gotten OKW, SSR, BWV and one time VWL at less than 60 days out.

I've also gotten OKW, SSR, BWV, AKV and VWL at 45 days out for the month of Oct/Nov in the past. I just booked SSR at 30 days out for Dec 12-16. The CM did say I got the last room so I admit I got real lucky. It's possible...but you have to be willing to stay at whatever is available and possibly switch to another resort if consecutive days aren't available.
