So, my family just went on the disney wonder for new years which we had booked in Feb of 2016 and there was the same deal of 50% of the deposit at that time. We are planning on going on a cruise summer of 2018 and of course the dates aren't out yet, I was wondering what the likely hood of them having the deal again at the beginning of 2018 or any other deal to help with booking? Also would it be easier to wait for the deal to come around or go ahead and book the cruise as soon as the itineraries come out?

If you wait until the beginning of '18 to book a Summer '18 cruise, then you might get a 50% deposit deal, but on a much higher fare. You also might find limited availability of your desired stateroom & location if you wait that long to book.

Also, booking in early '18 for sailing in June/July '18 means that your PIF is probably in March or April. So the discount might take the sting out of a hefty deposit, but only for a few months before you have to pay in full.

I wouldn't focus so much on the 50% off deposit. It's not saving you any money. It only allows a smaller deposit, and you have to pay the balance by your PIF date. Did you not book a placeholder on your Wonder cruise? That would give you 10% off the cruise fare, which is actually saving you money rather than simply delaying when you have to pay the money.

If you did an OBB Placeholder when you were on the recent New Years cruise, one benefit is a reduced deposit 10% instead of the standard 20%) on cruises of 7+ nights. That would be your best option. Plus the discounted fare and OBC.

If you didn't make an OBB, I suggest booking on opening day when summer 2018 itineraries come out. Waiting for a special offer or reduced deposit offer may backfire and end up costing more since fares increase as more bookings are made.

Enjoy your cruise!

Wouldn't have helped here because of the two year rule (Feb 16 they sailed).

I would say book on opening day and lock in that rate then if before Paid In Full a cheaper offer comes out book that. 50% off deposit as others have said isn't really a discount as such its more a way to delay payment.

No, they sailed over this past New Years - they booked the New Years cruise in Feb. 2016. Hopefully they booked a placeholder which they can use when the summer 2018 dates come out.

Oh see I completely misread! Serves me right for checking the board so early in the morning. Apologies
