$99 HP Touchpad

I just called HP, I did not press 3 (or 4 depending on the number you call). I pressed the number for new sales, then the next was for "computers" :lmao: I was connected in less than one minute. I explained to the rep what was going on and apologized for pressing the wrong department intentionally. She was more than happy to help me. The first thing she did was to look up my order. YES, I do have an order that will be filled, eventually. No, it is not being shipped out today, and there is no ship date that she can see. She said to disregard any dates that are coming up in the order status site. They are having many problems and the TP's are on back order. As they come in, they will be shipped out in the order the orders were placed. She said that when they are about to be shipped out, we will get an email from HP stating so. Until then, do not go by any dates that show up on the Order Status site. Email's from HP are the only way we will know what is going on.. so.. guys.... forget online checking... no matter what it states, as of now, it is wrong, that is unless you got an updated email from HP confirming it, not the first "confirmation email"... but an actual email with the "tracking number" in the email.. that was her actual wording..
I can rest assure, I will be getting my order, just don't know when. One way to know before the email would be to check with your credit card.. once they charge that, they have had to be placing it on that truck.. and I mean charge, not pending... :goodvibes

I have the Staples sale flyer, which starts tomorrow. In it, there is the HP Touchpad 32gb for $549.99. Interesting....

I know flyers are made weeks in advance. So, does this mean they will be available tomorrow? Thought I'd pass along this info for what it's worth. Unfortunately, Hurricane Irene has other plans for me, so I won't be at Staples. Maybe I'll try online if it shows the price of $149 (if the electric doesn't go out.)

I would highly doubt stores would have if in there ad. As others said ads are printed weeks in advance and were probably already printed before the price reduction last weekend. I received via mail this week and in the newspaper ad an HHGregg ad showing HP Touchpads. Knew they didn't have in stock because full price and ad printed in advance. I checked with store anyway.

The online ad for BB shows it near the back of the booklet I think page 24ish. I'm suprised that they wouldn't remove it from the online ad at least.

My flyer has the Galaxy on page 24; must not have pulled it yet from online ad.

thanks, i just got the paper but havent gotten to the flyers yet (early sunday edition lol, its half price lol)

I am currently looking at the sale ads from today's paper, and almost every electronic store has the HP tablet advertised with the higher price.

You have to keep in mind that those sale flyers were probably printed prior to the massive reduction in price that happened last week. As a matter of fact many of them were probably already in the newspaper's mailroom waiting to be inserted in today's paper.

Those ads are set up and printed weeks ago..before HP discontinued the Touchpad last FRIDAY...and no stores have stock now....:goodvibes

yep..that is correct.. they were printed and waiting to go.. way before the price reduction.. and now those stores have nothing in stock.. Not that anyone is going to go out and purchase on full price now anyway :lmao: Wonder if HP will give them any sort of "credit" for running an ad for their product.. :confused3 which is no longer being manufactured, and sold at super low close out prices ????? :upsidedow ?????? doubt they will

The rep told me that they DO have stock in the warehouse and they aren't shipped yet because it takes time to package and ship that many orders. Different info from different sources. I reiterated my question twice to make sure we understood each other. He said they are going crazy and getting tons of overtime in the warehouse and at the call centers.

I am an electronics buyer in Canada, the distributor of the Touchpad here has some 32gb units arriving by end of the week. Half are kits (with a portfolio case) and half without. There are 8x as many orders from retailers for the kit as there are units arriving and the 32gb (no case) has 14x as many orders from retailers compared to the number of units that will be arriving. There hundreds of orders by retailers for the 16gb model, with no stock on order by the distributor.

:confused3 I guess they cannot even get their stories straight on the phone..:rolleyes1

one thing is for sure, the orders are not being filled to be shipped..that much we can figure out  Now what ever the reason is, who really knows.. and what really is the difference.. all that matters is they aren't being shipped... :headache:

thanks for letting us know what they told you....:flower3:

Many retailers with online stores use drop ship, the distributor does the boxing and shipment to the customers, using labels with the retailer's logo. I would say it is a delay in the distributor's warehouses not the retailer's.

I know that when I look at several online stores here in Canada, that they link to/show the distributor's stock levels. So 4 retailers showing exact same stock , say 50 would lead one to think that each retailer has 50, not so, the distributor has 50 and everyone is showing it on line.

Unless there is a bricks and mortar store with stock listed like on Best Buy, I would be leery. I think that many TouchPad orders will not be fulfilled, just by the different in retailer requests and distributor on order from HP numbers.

We had stock in store of physical product for the TouchPad in store and sold out in just a couple of days after we confirmed all the HP rebates to us the retailer. Online stores let the chips fall where they may.

I had an email from HP today, I got excited because I put my self on the notify me list............but the email was for 15% off a printer

So, exactly how long is the ADMIN phase supposed to go on? My DH birthday is coming up and I'd like to know if I need to run outt o buy him something else if this is supposed to be cancelled.

Ok just figured I'd update. Today I had ordered a 16gb from a reseller on amazon. I figured it might be the best deal until and if the hp.com decide they will sell again.

FYI: Aarons furnitures might get some this week but they are priced at $179.99 for im assuming the 16gb. They might do the 20% off for pay in full pricing but this is YMMV.

I was going to wait for them but since I cant guarantee the 20% i jumped the gun.

I hope I did good and I like the TP. For the folks who have gotten theirs, how do you like it so far?

Honestly the webOS system needs some getting used to (we don't have any other device with this system). What we mean is that it's no Windows. So far we figured out how to add apps to it, use the browser and that's about it. We've had it since friday night.

Just a warning ... Angry bird is very addictive :lmao:

We're still trying to figure out how to transfer music and videos. Music I heard we have to download HP Play to our home computer and then transfer music over to the TP (only non protected files of course). We have yet to figure out how to transfer full length videos.
Also we haven't figured out how to use it as word/spreadsheet readers yet. You can read pdf files but we haven't figured out word yet.

I have to say that our 2yo loves to play with it... tho...

FAQ for touchpad orders. Covers what we already know, but in one place. http://h20435.www2.hp.com/t5/The-Next-Bench-Blog/Answering-Your-Questions-Part-2/ba-p/68749

This next link is amazing news. To summarize for the non-geek among us, this shows the HP tablet booting up with the most popular mobile software Android. What it means is within a few months you will be able to run the software that came with the tablet or boot into Android. Android is made by Google and is more popular than Apple's iOS. It basically turns your $99 touchpad into an Android tablet making it infinitely more useful. http://www.droid-life.com/2011/08/29/cyanogenmod-boots-up-on-hp-touchpad-in-alpha-stage/#more-44695

Well, I am still hoping for one for my kids bff. If anyone has one or wants to make a trade, holler, please.
