…when does Christmas start in your house? Here we begin rather late, a week before.

Usually it's Thanksgiving, but since time was shorter this year, the weekend before Thanksgiving.

We decorated our tree yesterday evening. I have ordered a few gifts online, and this Saturday I'm going shopping for all the other stuff I need to pick up plus I'll hit the grocery & liquor store then as well. Maybe I'll wrap on Sunday....we are going into the office on Monday, and we will be closed from the 24th till the 2nd.

We start preparing for Christmas the four weeks of Advent and then Christmas Eve through New Years Day are the big family times. Many of the people in my family take that time off and we often travel to each other's homes to visit during that time. We keep decorations up the 12 days of Christmas and take them down after Epiphany.

The tree and lights went up on the evening of Friday, 12/13. A few ornaments went on the tree on Saturday morning. I left on Sunday and am still away, so I don't know what has happened since then. We have colored icicle lights on our front porch, but that's not really Christmas decorating; we leave them up all year because I like them!
