Add me to the list of people who haven't seen the AK parade! Actually, the only parades I really like are the night parades.

I love the picture of you with ZZanta! Your DS "pretending" to take a picture of you reminds me of the time last summer when DD and I went to Las Vegas. We were out by the pool one afternoon, and there was this one lady, all by herself, who was the tannest person I have ever seen. And I'm not talking good tan, but obsessed-person tan. She was 50-60-ish, leathery, with bleached-out short hair. She would just bake a while, then get up and walk down the pool steps, splash off, get out, and bake some more. I knew no one would believe me when I said how dark she was, so "I took a picture of DD" with the lady just happening to be in the background. ;) I know I shouldn't have, but I had to! So did the ZZanta guy realize who people thought he looked like?

Looks like the boys had a great time at Star Wars. Thanks for posting the pics! :thumbsup2

Funny story about the tanned lady! :rotfl2: And here I thought we were the only ones to do silly things like that!!

ZZanta seemed pretty oblivious to what was going on. . . Or maybe he gets it a lot and was just ignoring it. Who knows! He sure didn't seem bothered by it or by anything. He was just relaxing with his shades on and talking about pin trading! When we saw him at DTD the next day he didn't have a red shirt on, so he didn't look quite as much like Santa!

Glad you enjoyed the Star Wars pics!

Great update! Love the ZZ Top Santa! :rotfl2: Looking forward to hearing about WCC dinner.

Glad you enjoyed the update. :) WCC is coming up next!

How about a quick update before I have to run off to the school to help little kids shop!!

We left AK and went out to the WL bus stop. Had a short wait, probably under 10 minutes. Then we loaded the bus. We each had a seat towards the front. We were in a row of the sideways seats. You know what I mean, they weren't facing forward. Well, anyway there were plenty of seats left in the back but this very loud and obnoxious lady decides that she is going to squeeze in beside DS8. She practically sits on him. And then thanks him for sliding over. I said to DH -- well it wasn't really like he had a choice. She had several people with her. Appeared to be her DH, some daughters, son in laws, and grandchildren. All very loud. But she by far was the loudest. DS8 pretty much moved out of the seat that he was now sharing with her. I think she was scaring him! So DS10 (who likes to stand on the buses anyway) decides that he will just stand and give DS8 his seat. The loud lady then thanks DS10 and tells him what a gentleman he is. Whatever lady!! At this point my migraine was starting to come on in full force. The lady then proceeds to start to yell/sing -- Wilderness Lodge, Wilderness Lodge, We love Wilderness Lodge -- while she is clapping her hands and stomping her feet. WOW! The kids were looking at me in horror and trying not to laugh. :scared1: Well, there was no chance my headache was going away now. I forget how long it took to get from AK to WL, but it seemed like an eternity.

When we finally got there loud lady and her family went one way and we went another. I'm pretty sure you are supposed to enter through the side entrance when you get off the bus, but we didn't know what we were doing and I was feeling quite ill and we walked all the way up to the main/front entrance. They both take you to the lobby anyway, so it was all good!

WL is very beautiful and the lobby is great. We were a bit early, I think it was about 4:45 and we had a 5:10 ADR. We walked around the lobby a bit and checked things out. I asked DH if he'd like to stay there sometime and he said -- not if that lady is here!! :rotfl2: I agreed.

I had all intentions of getting a lot of WL pictures, but just wasn't quite in the mood. But I did get a few.

We found the restrooms and went in to get cleaned up for dinner and then got in line to check in at WCC. The line was long and everyone was waiting their turn. Then what do you know here comes loud lady and she cuts the line and goes right up to the podium. :faint: I couldn't believe my eyes!! I'm not sure what she was doing but she held up the line for a good 4-5 minutes talking to the CM and then she left. Never saw her again, thankfully!!

DisneyNovember2009152.jpg

After we got checked in we were given a buzzer. We went and sat in the lobby and it went off in about 5 minutes. We were showed to our seats and started to look at the menu. I knew ahead of time that there wasn't really anything there that grabbed me, but I thought DH would like the food and the kids would like the atmosphere. Well, it turned out I was half right! :rotfl: Neither DH or I were impressed with the food. It was rather gross actually. We both got the Canyon Skillet and there wasn't hardly anything on it that was edible. We were given a salad and it was pretty good except the croutons were soft and wet. Like they had been sitting in the dressing for a long time. The salad came with the dressing already on it. DS10 got a hamburger which came with fries, fruit, and a cookie. He said his burger was disgusting! There was nothing on the menu DS8 would eat, so I asked if there were any other options. She named a few other things and he ended up with chicken nuggets, fries, fruit, and a cookie. We all got milkshakes and they weren't even very good. They have nothing on Sci-Fi's shakes, that's for sure! So overall the food was quite disappointing. But we knew that was a possibility going in from all the reviews we had read.

The highlight of the meal was when DS10 asked for ketchup and they brought him like 10 bottles!! :lmao: The kids thought that was the funniest thing ever! Then when the next person asked for ketchup we had to take all those bottles over to them. They loved that too. So it was quite the time in there. Very loud and not the place to be with a migraine. I was hoping that after I got something to eat I would be feeling better, but after that food I was feeling worse!

We asked to get our desserts to go. I asked for the Smores Cheesecake and DH said he'd just take the same. Our server had been very good up to this point but then suddenly disappeared when she was supposed to be getting our bill. It took forever and we just wanted to get out of there! She finally got the bill taken care of and then it took forever to get our desserts. Not sure what happened there. But eventually we got them and got out of there! The plan was to go tour the WL grounds, but I just wasn't up for it. We did walk out the back door and took a quick look around and then left.

From there we took the bus to MK and then switched to the POR bus. When we got back to POR DH and I were still hungry because we really hadn't had much for dinner. We opened up our dessert bag and there was one Smores Cheesecake and one Apple Caramel Pie. All that time we had waited for our desserts and one of them wasn't even right. DH didn't mind though, he took the apple pie. Both desserts were very good. So at least we got something yummy from the place!

After that we just watched some TV and turned in for the evening so I could try to sleep off that nasty headache!

We used 4 TS credits at WCC and our bill total was $120! That may have been our most expensive meal of the week and definitely the worst! But I'm glad we went and now we know. And the kids did have a blast there, even if they didn't eat much! :goodvibes

Oh shelly! The Santa man was so funny!! I am glad that your son took a picture...My hubby would have done it for me!
What a crazy lady!!!! I HATE when people squeeze in like that...hate it for me, but worse for my kids...I usually get up and move if I can. People are so rude sometimes....I have a real issue with people getting in my personal space. Did ya'll ever take the personal safety classes when you were kids that taught you about how big the space is? It's as big as when you take your arm and make a circle around you...and its true..when people get closer than that to me I start feeling a bit panicky!!!
Migraines...poor you!! I keep Exc. Migraine with me alllll the time...it's the only thing that will keep them back.Unless of course, I wait too long then they are already full force. I too cant sleep good if I take them late...and a full nights sleep is all that kills them!! If it's really late I just try to take an Extra Strength Tylenol and hope it helps a wee bit.

Shelly- you have no clue how much I enjoyed and needed this update. I had an absoloute terrible night---- tell ya later--- and I have laughed so hard at the crazy lady stomping and clapping and singing and nonsense--- I had tears coming out of my eyes I laughed so hard. Thanks so much for the interlude. I reallllllllllly needed it.

Sorry your meal was so bad. The pics of the food look good----- I wonder what's up with that????? I do remember now that when we ordered the killet that one time it made me a little ill. But that happens often to me at new restaurants with all of my allergies, (it happened at Blue Bayou in DL too) so I never thought much about it.

I told Marky the other day that if we go next year the week before t'giving we're staying at WL. Love it there.

Then I can be THAT lady- stomping and clapping and singing.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

So. Freaking. FUNNY!!!!!!!!

:lmao:

ETA.........
I'm not changing it. I said the 'killet' for skillet.

sounds like it needed killing.

Bwaaaaaahahahahahahahahahhaahahahahahaha!

I'm sorry to hear that you guys didn't have a good meal at Whispering Canyon. We went in August and everything was really good.....the skillet, the burger, well, everything.

At least you got to experience the atmosphere of the place. It's just too bad that you had a migraine and the loud lady kept showing up.

Thanks for your review of WCC---I have all of my ADR's set for March, but have been debating on getting a WCC ADR. I don't think that I will be trying for one now! The food doesn't look too good!
That lady on the bus was too funny! Thanks for making me laugh!

I tell ya, we ran into more rude people this trip than ever before. Even DH commented on it.

You are getting SO CLOSE!! 3 DAYS!! I am so jealous, but very excited for you! :cool1:

Sorry about the migraine and not enjoying your dinner. You got some really pretty pictures of WL. :thumbsup2 I hope that a good night's sleep did the trick.

I wish we would have got to explore the WL a little more. Oh well, maybe another time! It just wasn't a great evening. Luckily that was the last bad headache I got on the trip!

We had a WCC ADR one other time, about 2-3 trips ago, but I cancelled before we left because I was afraid. But I opted to give it a try this time. Just wasn't for us I guess. I would have thought it was just me not feeling well, but DH will usually eat just about anything. So I guess it wasn't just me! :rotfl: I'm glad we went though. We wanted to see the WL and the kids had a good time. I'm just glad we had free dining and didn't pay for that meal!!

So happy to keep you entertained today!! :lmao: You know, I had totally forgotten about the crazy WL bus lady until I started writing that post. I'll have to bring it up to the family later and see if they remember. I'm pretty sure they will! :sad2: WOW she was something else!

You better not turn into stomping clapping singing crazy WL lady!! :rotfl2:

Those food pics don't even look good to me. Brings back bad memories I guess! I told DH you said to order the fish, but he didn't listen. :confused3

So now you are thinking about next November??? :yay:

Sorry about the migraine and not enjoying your dinner. You got some really pretty pictures of WL. :thumbsup2 I hope that a good night's sleep did the trick.

Thankfully that was the last really bad migraine of the trip. I woke up feeling great the next day and ready for some DTD shopping!! :goodvibes

Did Santa ride out of AK on a Harley? :lmao: Did the boys give him their list of Star Wars Legos to bring for Christmas? What a great trip memory!

Loved the Star Wars Concert pics! The boys look just as happy there as they did in Disney!

You should definitely give POR a try! This is from one CBR lover to another!! POR is great too. Maybe not quite as great as CBR, but it's right up there! :thumbsup2 Do you think your DH will ever stay anywhere besides CBR???

Excedrin Migraine does the same thing to me. It doesn't matter what time I take it I know I will not be sleeping that night. So I have to choose to either suffer with the pain and possibly be able to sleep later, or to take the meds and know that I'll be up all night. Neither is a great choice. DH thinks I need to go to the chiropractor.
He'll stay there when I make the ressies for our next trip without telling him!
I've been told to see a chiropractor too. :confused3 Never checked into it though.

Too bad about the food at WCC - I have heard it has been either a hit or miss with everyone. Well, at least the boys thought the ketchup gag was funny. Nice pics of the lodge and the desserts looked good too. Sea

Santa may have had a Harley, I don't know!! :lmao:

Yes, the boys loved the Star Wars concert. The character meet & greets were a nice surprise too! And they were pros at it. Some of the other kids were too shy, but my boys just jumped right in there!

Maybe you should take your DH for a POR tour on this trip. Let him get a feel for it. Have lunch at the food court, walk the grounds, etc. I'm not sure he'll like it was much at CBR, but he just might be surprised!

I used to see a chiropractor for my back. Haven't gone in quite a long time. DH seems to think a good adjustment will make my headaches go away.

Yes, WCC seems to be one of those love it or hate it kind of places. You don't hear too many people say they kind of liked it or it was just okay. It's usually either - we loved it or we hated it. :confused3

The desserts were very good though! :cloud9:

The loud lady story is too funny! I was hoping you had taken a picture of the "podium" at WCC so that we might have gotten a glimpse of her!

Sorry about your migraine. I used to get bad headaches pretty often, but never migraines, which I can't even imagine. In fact, on our first trip to Disney with kids, I woke up one morning with a headache, and I still remember how bad I felt to this day. You can tell in all our pictures which day the headache day was LOL. I hope you were feeling better by the next morning!

I love the look on the boys' faces with all the ketchup bottles on the table. So I guess even though the food was yuck and you were feeling bad, it was worth it for that!

OOOOoH- I have soemthing to add about Chiros and Headaches!!!!

I have what most people call TMJ-- it's actually Tempromandibular disorder or, TMD.

I've had it since I was 12 or 13. I've seen a lot of chiros and such for help with that- they'd hook me up to a TENS machine and work on it that way. Never correlated having HA's b/c of the TMD.

I finally saw an awesome specialist who treats TMD and.... he is sort of a do it all Doc. While he was checking me- feeling my neck for tightness in my muscles that attach to my jaw, he told me that I was out of allignment and asked about Migraines. I told him that yes, I had them very very frequently and in fact had one at that moment. He said he would like to adjust me to see if that helped.

Oh my Lord. I felt instant relief of the pressure. He said it cracked so loud the patients probably could have heard it in the waiting room.

I ended up driving 2 hrs one way just to go down to see him and get adjusted for my headaches once a month for two years.

It really does work- but you have to find the RIGHT chiro. I've seen some that actually made me cry- it should never hurt- just have a feeling of immediate relief.

Just my .02.:thumbsup2

Yes, I left out the picture of DH and I at WCC. I looked pretty crappy! Just like I felt!

I love that picture of the boys when the ketchup arrived too. Talk about getting a picture at just the right time!!

I read that as -- "I have something to add about Churros and Headaches!!" :rotfl2::rotfl2: I was thinking -- who was talking about Churros??? :rotfl:

That reminds me, I wanted to get a Churro this trip but forgot. Never had one. . .

Anyway, alrighty you have talked me right into going to the chiro! I would love to feel instant relief from this!
