9 days 2 resorts FREE Dining Christmas Lights & a bouncing Tigger who stole my heart

Great update Shelly! :thumbsup2 I'm sad that your TR is coming to an end.

I'm sad too. :sad1:

I guess I'm just out of it when it comes to all these characters. When you said "Sulley" I thought it was going to be the pilot who landed the jet in the Hudson River! I was thinking, "Man, he's been all over TV, and now people are standing in line to see him at Disney!" So, who are these characters and what are they from? When your kids are in their 20's you lose touch with all this stuff. ;)

 Mike & Sulley and from Monsters Inc ~ http://www.pixar.com/featurefilms/inc/

OKW really is a pretty resort! So tropical and beachy, which I guess is the idea. ;) The pool looks really nice, too. But where were the swimsuit pics which we just know you have but aren't sharing? Are you glad that you tried OKW even though it was only for a couple of nights? And where do you think you will stay next time? Going deluxe in 2010???

Nope, no swimsuit pics from me! :rotfl:

You'll just have to keep reading to find out where we might be staying 2010. . . :rolleyes1

Looking forward to your review of Olivia's!

And I love the DHS water globe! :thumbsup2

Olivia's is coming up next! :goodvibes

Excellent resort pictures Shelly. OKW looks very nice and quaint. I will have to check that place out the next time we are down there. - Sea

Cute snowglobe you got!!
I really thought the pool area was pretty - especially the sandcastle looking slide with the Mickey ears exit! Cute!

I see Olivia's still had fall decorations outside. I hope you had a good meal there. I too want to hear about your future plans...Isn't it fun??:yay:

Love the snowglobe you got!

After the boys had done their meet & greet we started to walk away. Then Mike came walking towards me waving his arm kind of creepy! :scared: Everyone in line was laughing! :rotfl:

The characters sure are loving you! :rotfl:

Looking forward to hearing about dinner at Olivia's.

:yay:I added LMA to our DHS to do list. I have not told DD about Herbie - yet because if something happens and we can't see it I don't want her disappointed.
2 weeks for us :banana::banana::banana:
I got new luggage today, both or big suitcases were wreckd and I have no idea when we kept them! One had the wheel broke off and the other had a faulty zipper. Anyhow after careful and intense shoping (I don't know hw many stores I went to) I found them and got a good deal. I got 2 29inch cases at 50% off, then it was buy one get one half off ontop of that!!! yay me!
So now it feels real, the cases are in the spare room awaiting to be filled!

I hope I get to hear the future plans before we leave ! I am dreading coming home...

Wonderful update!

LOL at Mike being after ya.:lmao: Girl, you just attract the hairiest creatures. Would you like to trade your DH in for one of them?:rotfl2: I particularly like the one eyed guy.;)

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

The pics of OKW.......:cloud9:
It is such a beautiful resort. It really is. I think what I am realizing about myself is that I have to have trees and foliage around me --- it gives me a sense of peace and tranquility. I think that's why I can't make myself stay at the Contemporary and why WL appeals so much to me. OKW- I think would be great for a very relaxing, toned down stay.
(The pool looks pretty too-- your boys were enjoying it, I know!)

So sad to see your TR winding down. Whatever will I read now?????:confused3

Boy, this girl is slick. :rotfl:

I've already gotten hooked on this TR, so I'm not going anywhere!

Thank you! :) Yes, you should definitely check it out!

Gotcha! I have heard of Monsters, Inc., but I've never seen it. :guilty: Thanks!

You're welcome! :sulley:

Yes, OKW was the only place we saw with fall decorations still up.

Jo

I still have a day and a half to report on! :goodvibes

I was thinking that you should start a PTR to give me something to read when I am done here!! :thumbsup2

I see you are under 4 months!! :yay:

Hey Shelly still reading but not much time for posting. Quick question you said OKW was the only resort with fall decorations? Was everything else pretty "Christmassy"? I think we will being doing that time frame this year. It is a toss up between the week of veterans day & the week after turkey day. At first it was the week of DD birthday in Dec but I found out that is Pop Warner week:scared1.

Hey Kayte! :goodvibes Glad you're still reading along!

OKW was the only resort we noticed that had fall decorations up. We didn't see any decorations at any of the other resorts - fall or Christmas. With the exception of the Ginger Bread House being built at the GF. We were told that the Christmas decorations go up at most resorts Thanksgiving week, and some the week prior. We were there 2 weeks prior to Thanksgiving week, Veteran's Day week.

All the parks were decorated for Christmas. Those decorations went up starting the weekend we arrived and into that week.

Yes, I would definitely avoid Pop Warner at all costs. Shawna said she probably wouldn't go back during that week because of it. And I read a few threads here on the DIS and it sounds like some of those kids were out of control. :scared:

We really enjoyed the week we went. It would have been nice to see the resort decorations, but we were happy to just see the park decorations, and the Osborne Lights! And the low crowds made for a very nice time! :thumbsup2

We were just there during Pop Warner too. I would say this about it. Do not stay where they are. We got lucky in avoiding a lot of them, but they were in the parks no matter what some say. Large groups of teenagers make things louder and lines longer. If you can go right after Thanksgiving, you will get there before PW. They seemed to be arriving around Friday 12/4 and then were there the rest of the week.

You'd still get all the Christmas decor - everything was up when we got there. Come check out my TR if you want to see the Boardwalk area decorations. I've gotten that stuff posted so far.

Hey Kayte!! Just wanted to say howdy...haven't seen you in a while!!!!

Good morning! :goodvibes

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. It was a cold one here. We mostly stayed inside. Played lots of TSM on the Wii and I got a lot of scrapbooking done. So I'm doing good so far on my New Years resolution!

It's another cold day here at 16. And I see it's a balmy 39 degrees in Orlando. :sad2: I sure hope it warms up down there soon, I know a lot of you are headed there in the next couple of weeks. :wizard:

Friday November 13th continued ~

After our time at the OKW pool we went back to the room to get ready for dinner. Our ADR was at 6:00 at Olivia's. We took the bus back to the Hospitality House and went right over to Olivia's, even though we were a bit early. It was around 5:30 and we got right in.

It is a neat place. Nothing fancy. Very relaxed. Not busy at all. The CM's were wonderful and service was great.

We took a look at the menu ~

DisneyNovember20091016.jpg

DH decided to go with the "Penne Pasta with Shrimp - with Asiago Cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, baby spinach, olive oil and garlic". They did offer a New York Strip Steak, but after the whole steak fiasco the night before at LeCellier I opted for the "Roasted Free-Range Chicken Breast - Floridian Jerk Roasted with Roasted Potatoes". DS10 ordered the kids pizza with apples. DS8 ordered plain pasta with butter on the side.

Pretty soon our waitress brought us some bread. I can't remember what it was called. . . But she said it had pineapple & coconut in it. I thought -- oh great, the kids will never touch this. But to my surprise they did. DS10 thought it was good. And DS8 LOVED it!! He nearly ate the entire thing himself and we had to ask for more. It was very good. I could taste the pineapple flavor in it, but not the coconut.

Soon enough our dinner had arrived!

Everything was VERY good. As I mentioned before Olivia's was one restaurant that I had heard very little about and the one review I read of it wasn't that great. So we weren't expecting much, and ended up being pleasantly surprised. So that was nice to make up for the disappointing dinner DH & I had the night before.

Everybody was very full and happy! :goodvibes We used our 4 remaining TS credits and the total bill was $73.

After dinner we went next door to check out the gift shop.

While DH and the kids were browsing the gift shop I went over to the concierge desk to asked what I could do with these leftover CS credits. We still had 2 left and they expired at midnight and we couldn't eat another thing! In January when we were at CBR they let us get 4 snacks for each CS credit at the grab n go section of the food court. I told the CM that and she said it was up to the managers discretion and was different everywhere and we would just have to ask. So we asked at the OKW gift shop and they told us there was no way to ring it up that way. I asked if we could just get 1 snack for each CS credit and they still said no. :confused3 I went over to Good's To Go (OKW counter service) and was told the same thing. So after pondering this a bit I asked at Good's To Go if they had any cold CS meals that we could take to go and put in the refrigerator for tomorrow. They did! They had ham sandwiches. So we got 2 CS ham sandwich meals and got them all packaged up to go, the bill was $25. We went back over to the gift shop and used up our remaining snack credits.

Continued. . . .

DisneyNovember20091036.jpg

We took the bus back to the room and put the food all away and got ready for bed. But the kids decided to go out and burn off the rest of their energy before bed on that big landing outside our door (all the other rooms around us were empty) and have a lightsaber battle!

Up Next: Our last full day at Disney, what would we do???

Glad you guys had a nice meal at Olivia's!

We had a bunch of snack credits left over last year when we stayed at CBR. When I was at OPR using up our snack credits, the CM actually asked me if I had any CS credits left over because they would let me trade them in for snack credits. I think it was 2 snacks per CS credit. I didn't have any left so it didn't matter, but I think it's interesting that it varies by resort.

I forgot you went to Olivia's!!!

I remember now--- that Chicken looks really really good!

Weird about the CS credits-- but at least you got some ham sandwiches- good thinking! I would'v ejust let them expire... 'cause I'm dumb like that.:lmao:

Oooh- Light Saber Battle of Epic proportions!!! I do hope the good guys won in the end!
;)
Too cute.

Thanks for another wonderful update!

So sad that you only have one day left!

Me? A PTR? Whatever would I write about? You'd be my only reader!:lmao:

Jo

I like the light saber pics with your boys - too cool. Good looking food at Olivia's - glad to hear it was a great tasting meal. Great update!

BTW - we waved at you when we flew over that night - but you were probably still asleep at 5:00 a.m. :lmao:
