9/9/07 Wonder 4-day

Hey Amy,
I haven't been on dis boards for a couple days but just a quick side-bar about the cruise docs.....
Most of the stuff was just already on the website - and we had already filled out per the web instruction. You do however receive your tickets via mail....are you saying you haven't gotten the boarding tickets....?
All I can say is that when it comes to details and service - DCL is the best I have experienced anywhere - so be encouraged.

Anyone else keeping up on the latest tropical depressions.....

See ya later
Ben

Ben;

I've been checking out a couple of great threads for cuises in the next 10 days. There has been a meteorologist posting and giving some great info. Still looking at it as an adventure and not panicing....which is good for me! We're just gonna roll with it!

We should be getting our docs later this week, don't you think? We will soon be with the 2 week mark!!:dance3:

Do you mind posting the link to those threads? I'd be curious to keep up with what he shas to say. And are there any good websites for tracking what's going on in the Atlantic? :confused3 All I can find is info in Hurricane Dean.

Thanks!

The first one is http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1548268. That one is for the 8/23 cruise and it got a little heated. It seems that some there thought that the meterologist was insighting panic by giving their opinion on where things were headed even though he or she stated that it was way too early to say anything definitive.

The second one is http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1552214 and that is a carry over of people from the first thread that are actually on a 9/2 cruise.

Sorry I didn't get them posted sooner but I just got home from work. Long day! The way I figure it, it is what it is and all the worry in the world isn't going to change what is to come so....we just hope for the best, prepare for the worst and roll with the waves, so to speak!pirate:

Thanks! That was good reading. It's amazing how even discussions about weather can get contoversial here on the DIS! :rotfl: The hurricane Dean projected path "video" was hysterical, though! :lmao:

I guess all we can do is hope for good weather. Thanks again for the links.

Hey guys! Its only a matter of a couple of weeks! I am so excited!
Glad to see some of us are getting upgrades!
I won't be able to be at the meet because of a prior commitment but I hope I see some lime green Mickey heads so I can at least say Hi to everyone.
Laxmom, is your hubby still doing okay? Please keep him safe. I want him to be able to have a good time without pain.
I am not worried about hurricanes. I think it would kinda be fun to have a cruise where we don't know where we are going. It would be an adventure.
We called Disney about our documents(again) and the latest info is that they are all being mailed on Friday by UPS 3 day.

Thanks for the info Fastpass. I wondered when we would get our docs; knew it would be soon.

DH is doing really well. Thanks for asking. He started PT and still wears a brace but is experiencing very little pain. He is actually at a higher risk for reinjury now that the pain isn't a reminder of what he can and can't do. Luckily, he is very aware of what he should and shouldn't be doing. We are both really looking forward to our trip, whatever it holds. He has our door magnet hanging on the fridge. I am starting to mentally pack; figuring outfits for dinner, Palo's, etc. I cannot believe we are coming into 2 weeks out!:cheer2:

Found the birth certificates - WHEW! I'm getting so excited - I'm not going to think twice about the weather - I'm going to have a good time no matter what. I really do hope we get to go to Castaway Cay though - that's my favorite!!

This is our first cruise of any type so we really are looking forward to going to Castaway Cay - me more than the others because I have a friend that went and raves about it. Not to mention what I have read on the boards. We will so excited to be on a cruise, nothing will get us down :goodvibes

This will be trip #4 to Nassau so if we miss it, no big deal. The big reason for our trip is Castaway Cay. Next to Cades Cove in the Smokies, CC is his favorite place on earth. Really hope the weather doesn't keep us away. I'm glad to hear that you guys feel like we do; ready for an adventure wherever we sail.

I'm already trying to figure out what cruise to book next while on board.;) If we don't get to CC, it may be the double dip cruise next Sept.

You guys might have seen my post about upgrading. I called our TA today about upgrading from a cat 9 (oceanview) to cat 7 (navigator's verandah). It would only be $140. DH has never been on a cruise without a balcony, and I think the extra space might be nice, but one of the main reasons we didn't book a balcony originally was because of DD3 and safety issues. :confused3

Any opinions? We would be giving up a great, miship cat 9 cabin for a cat 7 GTY. All the cat 7's are about in the same location (3 different decks), and I guess there's a chance of an upgrade from that, too.

Thanks! Only a little more than 2 weeks away!

But if you move your cabin won't be near mine anymore! :lmao:

In all seriousness, the Navigator's Verandah sounds awesome for your family. :)

HLAuburn, I have heard that the balcony door isn't that easy to open for little ones. As long as you leave the balcony door closed when your not actually on the balcony you should be fine.
I say go for it!

Amy7979, Swimming with the dolphins sounds fun! I really hope we do get to go to Nassau,I wouldn't want anyone to have to miss that experience. I have never done it but have always wanted to.

We did the dolphin thing when we were in Nassau before. DH and I did the encounter on a trip to Atlantis that he won. We had to go back with the kids on another trip and insisted that they do the swim. Here is a link to a thread that I posted a picture of our boys on from their swim with the dolphins at Blue Lagoon http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1546976.

You are going to have a wonderful experience. It was absolutely incredible.

We had a balcony on our last cruise and really enjoyed it. This time we opted for an ocean view to see what we thought. The only complaint I had with our balcony room wasnt with the balcony. We were on the highest deck and could hear them moving carts to the buffet or moving deck chairs every morning at about 5:00 am. Woke us every morning. We were able to fall back to sleep but figured we would try a different location and category this time. I would still go for it. There is something about watching the sunset or sunrise from your own balcony.

Doin' the DOCUMENT DANCE! Ours came today! When I got home, DH said "UPS brought a package" and sure enough, it was our cruise documents! Woohoo! Nothing really exciting inside, but it just makes it seem official!

When I called Disney a couple of days ago, they said that all the documents for our cruise would not be mailed until today. I guess they lied!
Oh well, at least I can look forward to them coming.
So, tell us what exactly comes in our package?
Thanks for sharing the info!

I read the post about them being mailed today too, so I was surprised when the showed up! They were shipped 3 day UPS, but I didn't look to see when they were actually sent. We're kinda-sorta close to FL, so maybe they came a little quicker? :confused3

They're really not all that exciting. There's a booklet with a bunch of tear out pages, like DCL bus vouchers, flight info, cabin info, etc. Then there were 3 Bahamas immigration forms (do you have to fill one out per person now?) and a little "to do before you cruise" booklet that reminds you to forward your mail and take you pets to be watched by someone while you're gone! :rotfl: And the luggage tags (2 per person). And that's it! We already did the online check in, so that might have taken care of a lot of the paperwork.

Oh, man! Can't wait until Monday to get those documents! I agree that will make it seem real. I went online last night and stared at my reservation....it wasn't the same!:rotfl:

Two weeks from right now we will be........on our way to the airport. We are flying in on Sat., spending the night and driving over Sunday morning.

We got our green mickey heads from Home Depot yesterday. DH actually went over after I mentioned something about needing to get a couple. It is getting close now!:woohoo:

rjeash, I noticed all was quiet on the weather and figured no news was good news!

Got our docs as well! It looks to me like most of it was stuff we did on line. But I was just excited to get it because it means we're practically there!
