Drink Cups

My $100,000 initial Aulani DVC investment and many $1000’s in annual dues say otherwise.

Next time you’re there, read the sign for the cups:

REFILLABLE MUGS TO BE USED AT RESORT REFILLABLE MUG STATIONS FOR UNLIMITED SOFT DRINHS, TEA, & COFFEE

The sign would say something like during your current stay or similar, or they would chip them like other resorts if they wanted to limit them. Also ask the workers in Ulu Café and they will say the same. We asked again once they started selling the more expensive stainless ones and got the same answer as always; ok to bring back next time.
If you're so rich you can probably afford to pay for your Diet Coke.

Well. Most of us are wrong. Here is the current signage and I spoke with 2 separate cast members that confirmed you can bring back your Aulani resort mug on any trip and use it. No extra charge necessary.
That sounds nice for the locals who stay there. I couldn't imagine packing a cup to save a few bucks, but I don't drink a lot of soda and I like espresso type coffees. So, the value isn't there for me, but woot for those who drink a lot of that stuff.

Thanks for posting. This is more than what I paid. Maybe so many abused the system they decided to just charge more up front and let it go.

It's funny. If I wasn't on this forum, it would never have even crossed my mind to ever think to bring a refillable cup back for a different trip in order to save a couple of bucks.

But, I guess, if Aulani actually doesn't care, and I'm meaning actual policy and not a few underpaid CMs, then I might consider it for next time. I still have those stainless steel cups lying around somewhere...

Yesterday, I was at the Wailana Pool next to the cutest Japanese elder couple (and their family) who I can easily assume are OG Aulani owners. Sparkly bands of course.

They had a very faded AUL popcorn bucket and three plastic AUL reusable mugs-- mugs that had to be at least 2-3 designs old cause they had the black ribbed handles.

If they're still using theirs, I wouldn't have any qualms about using mine on a future trip.

But who’s to say they don’t pay again like it’s designed to do like at WDW?

Anyway I emailed and inquired about what the official policy is. If I hear back I will report it here.

I think people are taking this waayyy too seriously. @Steelers0854 is there right now, asked more than one CM, and took a photo of the sign, I think that is pretty official. At WDW, you are told cups will expire and every F&B CM will tell you that. Looks like at Aulani, since the machines don't have the RFID chips, they have decided they are not going to play soda police and have a no expiration policy. Might this change someday? Maybe! But for now, drink away and if you have room in your suitcases, find your old cups!

They'll respond and say the official policy is length of stay.

Enforcement is totally different. Since there aren't RFID chips, they have no way of knowing when a current design cup was purchased. As PPs said, let's just enjoy the unofficial benefit while we have it. I dont have a mug/cup, but for anyone using an older one I say good for you and go for it. I'm not going to report it to a CM.

In fact, I would think that anyone using an older cup knows more than me anyway, since this is my very first time at AUL (frequent visitor elsewhere in HI).

Besides, it's Hawaii. Laid back island life and Ohana is everything here.

Point being my original post of this thread. Unofficial benefits while cool shouldn’t be advertised on the boards.
