This is just an FYI

This is for flights to and from the UK:

What's allowed on U.K. flights

Tighter security is temporarily in effect on all flights to or from the United Kingdom, where no carry-on baggage of any kind will be permitted for at least the next several days.

Essentially, passengers may not carry anything in their pockets or on their person through security checkpoints other than the following items in a single (ideally transparent) plastic carrier bag:

Pocket-size wallets and purses with their contents (money, credit cards, identity cards, etc.)

Travel documents essential for the journey (passports and travel tickets).

Essential prescription medicines and medical items for the flight (a diabetic kit for example), except in liquid form unless verified as authentic.

Eyeglasses and sunglasses, but no cases.

Contact lens holders, but no bottles of solution.

Female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed.

Tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs.

Keys (but no electrical key fobs).

Nothing else will be permitted in the cabin. This includes all electrical or battery-powered equipment, cell phones, computers, portable music players, cameras, remote controls, as well as jewelry, watches and reading material. Passengers will be hand-searched and all items they carry on board will be X-rayed.

Hope this helps.

John

No Books!, No Watches!, No jewelry!
You mean we would have to take off our wedding rings? I can't imagine that long of a flight with out a book to read. I would go through withdrawal!

I am going to have to send this to my DD25. She is going to Ireland on the 26th of Aug. WOW!

Carol

Steve, thank you soooo much for the videos. I know that you put your heart and effort into them and we all appreciate it sooo much.

Congrats to all the upgrades. I can't believe how many of us are getting them. Pixie dust to all of you that are hoping!

Well snot! If I can't ship the wine, I guess I'll have to check it also. Zip-lock bags will become my new best friend.

Yesterday, I went to the doctor and they put me on this electrionc thingy that attaches to my back by two patches. That thing is wired to a little computer type thing that attaches to my belts or clips to my shorts. They gave me a medicial card so I can fly with it, but YAY! It comes with a huge briefcase thing that has all the patches and charger. I've decided I'm going to ship the briefcase thing with our water and such. But I'm not sure how much trouble I'm going to have getting through with that thing attached to me. Add to it, my body brace. Oh yeah I'm going to have loads of FUN! :cool1:
Sorry to hear about all that!

Has anyone tried to reserve the couples massage on Castaway Cay? I am afraid it is sold out :( Mike & I were so looking forward to it :(
Has anyone done the Well Being Massage for couples onboard?

We also just booked the Coral World Ocean & Island Drive at 11:30am for our family :) PLus the Pineapple Beach Excursion with everyone, I think we are set- just disappoited about the CC Massage... do you think we'd have better luck trying to rserve that one we board the ship?
We have done the massage on board. We thorougly enjoyed the experience. We have also done the cabana massages and they were AWESOME.

I think the large ziplock bags are the answer for the wine bottles. Then wrapped in bubble wrap and cotton and towels. :)

It should be interesting. :goodvibes

Ted and I have always packed our wine IN our check in luggage but with Heidi's experience in Las Vegas, I don't want to risk it anymore.

Hers was a plastic bottle that expands in the cargo area of the plane. I don't think we will have that problem with glass bottles. :-) But, I am putting mine in a 2 gallon ziploc baggiee before I wrap it! LOL!

Stephanie, the 9yr old that Heidi is referring to is her one of her boyfriend's twin daughters. They will be with us on the WDW leg of the trip but not the cruise.

I see! I thought *Why hasn't Heidi mentioned her before???* :teeth: Of course when I told 8ds it did get his hopes up :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: He was even more excited when I told him that she lives int he Denver area -- Denver is his favorite city to visit! ;)

I told 26ds that I think it is physically impossible for me to go that many hours without reading..... I woudl have to ask for the soda cans to read the backs of them. :lmao:

I'm thinking about the Coral World Ocean and Island drive myself. I haven't made my mind up yet.

I have been poring over the excursion choices, and I am surprised that there seems to be no excursion that goes to Harrison's Cave in Barbados. Am I missing something? It is supposedly the most popular tourist attraction on the island.

A few days ago I purchased my bottle for the wine tasting at a winery about 4 miles from my house (that's as local as I could get, the wine is made there but the grapes are grown in the southern part of the state). I think I have my solution for transporting it; I have a soft rolling cooler that I plan to line with a thick garbage bag, then put in a couple rows of soda and water bottles, then the wine, then more soda and water bottles. I might try to throw in a few cans of beer as well and hope for the best. I wish they would just pressurize the cargo hold, that would solve a lot of problems.

Yes, it would! LOL!

When I was researching the islands, I read on another forum (cruise critic, I think) that the Caves closed very recently for renovation.

Thanks so much for that info! Now I will look for something else to do there.

My family is also on the Coral World 11:30 excursion. Good to know there will be a lot of friendly DISer faces on it.

I also reserved the Paradise Point Tram tickets. I was thinking we could do that first as soon as they open and then be back at the ship for 11:30 for the Coral World tour. Has anyone ever done it before. Am I going to be rushed to do both?

That's my thing. I would like to do the Tram and some major shopping. I've got to look to see how long we are going to be there. That will help me decided what I want do to.

:Pinkbounc I am so happy there will be more of us at Coral World! :Pinkbounc Stepht5~ my girls will LOVE that another little girl will be there! :Pinkbounc
It sounded the most kids friendly- and my girlies are very much into sea life. We will likely reserve the Ocean Park & Swim & the St Lucia Beach Getaway. Plus we are firming up for the Pineapple Beach Resort excursion with everyone here :goodvibes

We are also considering the Glass Bottom Boat Scenic tour at CC- has anyone done that? Is it worthwhile or is there enough to do at CC that we won't want to even try it b/c there is so much else to do? :confused3

Still bummed out about the cabana massages- and the couples on board aren't at the greatest times :( Oh well, could be worse- I could be at home! :rotfl:

ricka47~ that is an AWESOME upgrade! :wizard:

Who do I contact about the wine tasting & stateroom tours? :confused3

Oh let me make a CC suggestion. If you haven't done it before do the treasure hunt that is done there. We did it as a family and had a blast doing it. Plus what you get at the end is a GREAT keep sake!

They usually make the announcement the evening before to meet and get the clue list and a map of the area.

There's the whole issue of weight though. With having to pack all of our shampoo, suntan lotion, makeup, and every other cream and gel we usually take, we are sure going to be overweight to start. I am always right at the max weight for a 7 day cruise without having to pack all of that weight in my check throughs. I am also not real fond of merlot colored white linen slacks and I know my DH would refuse to wear a rose tuxedo shirt! :rotfl: Ziplocs seem like a good idea but broken glass punctures right through...been there- done that! So, back to the drawing board for me...maybe they will relax the rules in a couple of weeks.
