I know people have been waiting for this report..sorry it is so long overdue..but..well, there are no excuses..hopefully it will make someones day a little more pleasant.
We are me, Phyllis; DH Jim and DD Natalie almost 10..our 4th DCL cruise..first on The Wonder.
Our "trip" started on Wednesday night as we left Hilton Head Island to make our way to ORL. We were waiting for the wind and rain from Hurricane Edouard..but thankfully..it never came and had passed ORL before we arrived. We spent a restful night in our villa in ORL and got up the next morning to gray skys and rain. We did our gas, Starbucks and lottery run and after about an hour on the Beeline, we came up over the bridge to beautiful sunny skys, and I told DD to close her eyes, as I could see The Wonder already, and when she opened them...we both screamed in delight! We passed the now familiar Radisson, McDonalds to make our way to THE PERFECT GIFT to meet Shirley for the first time!! She is the most delightful, wonderful, sweetest, down to earth person you would ever want to meet. I now feel like I have a second mother!! Her shop is..well..she has more wonderful stuff in her shop than you can imagine!! DD and I wanted everything we saw!! Off we went to breakfast with Shirley(Barb & Tony were going to join us, but had a cabin snafu on board and weren't able to get off the ship), we left our van at her house and she dropped us a the pier. X-ray was set up outside and we were swiftly through and into the terminal, where check in was a breeze. DD zipped through the terminal making "club friends"and soon we were on our way. DD always has to go first, and her KTTW wouldn't scan, so much to her being a 10yo with early PMS(lol) we told her we would just leave her there and pick her up after the cruise!! Needless to say, that did not go over too well with her!! DH and I were scanned through and we had to go over to a little room to the left of the scanners and she was quickly issued another card and off we went to board the Wonder for the first time, anxious to see Barb & Tony again along with our other cruising friends, Kathy & Alex.
Barb & Tony were waiting for us and off we went to PC for lunch. After lunch we went to our cabin, where two huge baskets had arrived for DD and myself..both from Mickey and Minnie via THE PERFECT GIFT. Mine held so many beautiful things, a pearl necklace, candy, a candle holder and candle, wine coolers, aromatherapy gel. DD's had Dr. Pepper, and tons of snacks inside a Mickey backpack(which I intend to confiscate for myself)!! DH went up to join Barb & Tony in the hot tub, while I unpacked and took DD to sign up for the club. By this time it was time for the dreaded lifeboat drill..which in AP..is really not bad. After that the Sail Away Party had begun!!! While DH and DD were dancing and I was guarding the food and drinks...a lovely young couple sitting beside me asked if I'd take their picture. I did of course and we began to talk. I found out she is a teacher in ORL and he is a cast member. I asked if they were on their honeymoon and she said "We're not even engaged". I said to her "Hhhhhhmmmmm...I think you will be soon", and we continued to talk about various things and enjoy the party.
After the Sail Away..we went back to the cabin for some down time and got DD some dinner as she had decided not to join us for dinner at Triton's. We went to see Hercules, which for the parts of it I saw(I'll admit...I took a few snoozes)..was as good as ever. We all went to Pin Trading and finally met up with Kathy(Tinkerkat) and her DH, Alex. DH took DD back to our cabin with the rules of staying in the cabin by yourself and the consequences of not obeying...we met up with Barb & Tony and went to dinner..which turned out to be the first of many delightful meals with our friends. I love good food, but for the life of me could not find anything on this menu that I wanted. So I opted for a good ole steak and baked potato. I don't remember what anyone else had, except for Barb and her homemade "hot iced tea". We had good service, but for the life of me cannot remember our servers names, who were disappointed that DD did not join us. We went back and checked on her and she was sound asleep, so we joined the others for 70's Disco night. We had towels animals every night and great service from our cabin
hostess, Narine.
I'm going to stop here as it's almost time to go home from work.
And I've had a very bad day. As many of you know, I work for the fire department and this morning one of the guys drove one of the trucks through the wall behind my desk!!! I was not
hurt, but could have been very seriously injured or even killed if the truck had not stopped!!! The wall and the ceiling were pushed in, the ceiling tiles, insulation, light fixtures, etc are
hanging everywhere. I am lucky, so I guess I have a purpose on this earth after all!!!!
