9/4 Refund Received

i got an email from dreamsunlimited that they also have our voucher so that they can quote me a price using that

Yeah regarding Dreams - anyone else that booked with another TA that won't be receiving their voucher because they want to book the business??? I think that is crap truthfully. It's our voucher and our right to book anyway we wish, we shouldn't be forced to book through the place we booked. Now I know the reason why we always book on our own.

Just an FYI - if you request Dreams Unlimited Travel to send you your voucher they will be happy to do so.

John

Thanks, John. That is much appreciated.

That is appreciated. Frankly, they shouldn't have held them anyway, they should have been sent right on to the individual first, but that is just my opinion.

I'm willing to bet my voucher isn't even sent to my TA. I bet DCL messes that up to. They probably don't have me as having even been on the re-scheduled 9/4/04 cruise. Especially since they came knocking on my stateroom door, asked my name then told me their system didn't show anyone in the room.

I am looking forward to getting the voucher because I want to contest what I"m hearing as this must cruise by October 1, 2005 date. I'm very, very upset with that. They wouldn't let us re-book onboard. So, we're not only screwed by the bad weather, DCL's administrative and communication problems, but also purposely not allowed to re-book onboard for cruises after October 1, 2005. I know persons on the cruise after us did re-book for after October 1, 2005 onboard.

YOU ARE CRACKING ME UP - I needed that today!! I'm with you on the whole thing. They have screwed us since 4 days before the 3 day delay and they keep on screwing us - I am just guessing that they don't want people sailing with them anymore.
Oh well.

I finally rebooked today (cancelled 9/4 sailing after 2 days in Hurricane Frances and stuck in Lake City due to curfew, couldn't get to new port in time and had to cancel on 9/6).

I called my travel agent today and rebooked for March 19th, 2005....the only possible time that I can cruise with work/school schedules. Guess what?????????????? I may not be able to use my 25% off voucher because it is peak time/holiday week!!!!!!! It is already going to cost me $2000.00 out of my pocket more than the 9/4/04 cruise (that's with the discount figured in)!!!! Oh My! It appears that the voucher is not valid during peak or holidays. Has anyone else heard this? My travel agent is checking into it and will call me back next week.

BTW, my TA received my voucher in the mail today.

Oh yeah! 25% off voucher was the best they could offer and therefore would not rebook onboard the 9/7/04 cruise. And, as we all know you cannot rebook peak time cruises, special cruises, or cruises after October 1, 2005 while onboard. Well, not with the 10%/$200 offer anyway. Right? Yes?

I"m being a wise butt here. Sorry, couldn't resist. I was reading about re-booking in my September 10, 2005 Navigator. LOL

That's strange...
I posted a response quoting Rachelelizabeth earlier this morning and now it has disappeared!

Melody - Computers are strange people! I never trust them. Well, I never trust them too much. lol

Rachelelizabeth - Don't give up. Keep a smile, be nice, and be ready for surprises I like to think. You are right.

I'm just sitting here thinking this is so sad that DCL is this bad. I guess they have had me disallusioned for a long time - no more.

I didn't realize there were all these restrictions on the discounts. I was on the 9/18 cruise that is getting a 50% off voucher, but haven't gotten it yet so I haven't seen any fine print.

So what are the restrictions? Are you saying you can't use it on any Peak Season cruise (wouldn't that be all summer long?). And no Holiday cruises (like the Easter one you are booking). So you can only book during value season? Is that correct?

Does anyone have their voucher and can tell us exactly what the restrictions will be as stated on the voucher?
Thanks,
DJ

It says: valid commencing prior to October 1, 2005 excluding peak and holiday sailings. You have to book prior to 12/31/04

westjones - could I ask why you are getting a 50% voucher - what happened with your sailing date?

Hurricane Jeanne turned towards Florida during our cruise and on Thursday most of the ship (and CMs) were sick from the rough waters. (not why we got a discount).

On Friday we had to skip CC to head back to PC because they were told they were closing the port on Saturday morning at 10:00 am. THEN around 3:00 or 4:00 on a announcement came on that said they had to let us off the ship that night and to have our bags out by 6:00! We rushed around getting our bags packed and then around 10:00 that night they had us get off at PC and the DCL busses took us to the Dolphin Resort at WDW (no charge) where we checked in around 1:00 pm. They provided breakfast for us the next morning and transportation back to the airport.

The 50% off voucher was to a nice gesture. They really handled everything well (only took about 5 minutes to get our room key at the Dolphin---they did a great job). We didn't get any onboard credits or reimbursements like some of the other cruises, just the 50% off voucher (which was quite enough I think, everyone was thrilled to receive it, and the passengers all handled the changes well).

The letter from the captain says we should get the voucher within 3 weeks. I am sure it will have the same restrictions as your voucher. Thanks for letting me know, it does limit how you can use it. At least now we know and can plan accordingly.

Sounds like DCL learned something from our cruise. I guess we were the "trial and error" cruise. Oh well. Good luck with rebooking.

paulmc80 - I should have said before, "trial and error and error and error, etc." hahaha

SELVEY..........

DCL did not learn enough from your cruise..........just got home today from the 9/28 and they dropped the ball completely. Once on board of course all was great, however we need to clean house in the on shore division.

Glad to be home and knowing in my heart this couldn't happen to us twice, we're rebooking same week next year! If it were to happen I am hoping protocol would be in effect that would not have us in the mess we were this year. I am choosing to believe that Disney is too prosperous of a company not to fix such a bad glitch in the system.

Have a good one all
