9/4 Refund Received

missyoh8

Future cruisers can only hope that DCL gets their s--- together. They have totally screwed all of us from the 9/4 cruise and many others since then. They won't clean house onshore because I don't think they really care if they lose some of us. At least, that is exactly the image they have given to me and many others.

We will never cruise with DCL again, nor will my family ever visit a Disney park or buy Disney products again due to this fiasco. It's too bad they have let it come to this.

It is so sad to be like this, however, DCL has put us in this position due to their incompetence, poor personnel, awful communication, and disrespect to those of us that actually helped Disney the week of 9/4 by not cancelling. I wish everyone had cancelled and they had lost LOTS AND LOTS OF THEIR PRECIOUS MONEY.

I was finally credited with a little more - but it is still shy of 50%.

If they can't calculate 50% without any problem, it is highly unlikely they will be able to calculate the 25% off for the voucher to entice me on to another cruise.

I doubt my voucher will ever be used.

I was with a group of 4 families, and I will probably be the only one to use it (and that is only because we already planned to go on December and it is during a value time--I called and they said that I could use it on that cruise, now I just need to get my voucher).

I bet a lot of people won't be able to use their vouchers.

I agree. A lot of persons will not be using the vouchers. They sure made it sound very good.

I'm waiting to see what their reply will be to, in the least, allowing the normal onboard re-booking offer of 10%/$200 onboard credit for those cruises they've diallowed use of the voucher. Afterall, they did not re-book onboard citing that was the best offer available. Apparently now we come to find out it is not available for all cruises that could have been re-booked onboard. Or so I shall find out as that is what I asked them in my letter.

Oh please give it a rest! Frankly I think the ships and parks will be happier places with out you. And FYI, not everyone on the delayed 9/25 cruise thinks Disney dropped the ball. We think they did a great job, and yes we were on that cruise so we DO know what it was like. And if you read some of our posts and see one of the blessings that came about because of this, you might understand why we think these problems are insginificant to the greater scheme of things.

Frankly I think they went above and beyond and with our refund and discount, my wife and I are looking forward to a second honeymoon on board the Magic this winter.

Good for you! Nice to hear that.

And, others have the right to their point of view and everyone's experience is unique.

Thank you very much. :D

Gee thanks.

And of course everyone has the right to their opinion, though on these threads it seems like anyone in support of Disney is met with quite of bit of condescension. And it’s a shame that my kids got to hear some of the tirades in person, with out the *s blanking them out.

That's very sad.

I've been do WDW more times than I can count and on three Disney cruises. I have yet to hear people swearing. I have seen disputes, but never to the extreme. But, that is the reality. Win some, lose some, but mostly stay even.

We all do what we can.

Your comment to Selvey is cruel and unnecessary. I believe someone on here posted if you want to block someome's posts you can do so. Perhaps you should do that if an honest opinion upsets you so much. I do believe this post is about the 9/4 cruise. I didn't think you were on that cruise. Perhaps I am wrong. You were very fortunate to have been given a free upgrade by Disney and perhaps that is your reason for many of your posts. You were blessed to have been helped with your post seeking help. It was someone on these boards who came through for you. Please be more tolerant of your fellow disers. We all have our opinions. As to kids hearing s*** I hope that is the worst that ever happens to them.

I am not sure how you can say that any coorporation that is driven by the all mighty dollar does not make mistakes!

There is only ONE whom I will follow without question................His name is not Mickey Mouse

Just a thought,
Missyoh8

Mickey is cool! lol

I agree, its not making mistakes that's frustrating. Its how correcting them is handled when pointed out.

Seems like tolerance only goes one way. And hearing people swear loudly and act like crazies in front of a crowd sure won't be the worst that ever happens to my kids, nor has it been. It's just an example of how the right to one's opinion isn't always accompanied by responsibility.

No, the upgrade is not the reason for our posts, and I have some great friends on these boards. I am simply very supportive of a company that has provided a very high level of satisfaction to us over the years. And as a customer service professional myself, I tend to see both sides of the equation with a little more objectivity.

Is Disney perfect, no, do they make mistakes yes. After all they are only a for profit corporation run and staffed by human beings. Is everyone who has ever had a problem with them always right or even reasonable, no.

And no I wasn't on that cruise, but was on an abreviated one. I guess we're only allowed to comment on those. It seemed that previous angry posts would get mad at those of us who defended Disney because we didn't know what it was like to have our cruise interupted by a hurricane. I guess the parameters are more narrow now.

Don't worry, I'll be quite content to stear clear of this thread in the future.

What a relief.

Come on, guys . . . there's no need for sarcasm or attacks.

For what it's worth, it's only been a month since your cruise; it seems that DCL is attempting to take care of everyone, but is terribly understaffed and behind in its correspondence, credits, and requests. I would suggest some patience in the credits situation.

Marcy

Not to upset anyone, our credits have already begun to roll in from the 9/28 Magic. Seems as if Disney will be getting better reviews in the accounting department, we have been pleased with the speed.

Have a good one all, hope everyone else is as satisfied as we are in this area!

I still haven't received my refund. It's been 1 month today that I had to cancel.

Anyone else still waiting for their refund?

I have no problem with being patient with DCL. As I'm sure they'd gladly extend me the same courtesy. :D

I've written a nice to the point letter to them and anxiously, but patiently, await their kind response. No complaints, just questions I'd enjoy reading the answers about.

Have you checked the CC's you made your deposit and final payment through RachelElizabeth? I sure hope you start getting yours in soon.

One thing I'd like from DCL regarding this refund is an accounting of what all the different breakdowns are. Its extremely confusing with about 8 different credits. And, as far as I can tell its not anywhere near 50% of the cruise fare before taxes, port fees and anything else.

Just for information .... I didn't get my $200 onboard credit while cruising (long story there I won't bore anyone with) So, I had put that on the comment card. I'll be darn if not a day later I got it credited to my card and for that they did send me a revised onboard statement with an explanation. I think they read that thing. How about that ... LOL

To a great extent, I am trying to take a wait and see attitude, but I am not optimistic with respect to leaving this without some sour taste in my mouth regarding issues that DCL has within its control. IMHO, there is NO excuse for the same communication problems to be happening the third and fourth time they went through the same process. In my work, if I didn't correct problems by the second or third time I was confronted by the same problem I would not still be employed. DCL could have quite smoothly handled the communication problems but ultimately someone chose not to use the resources they had available to do so. I have incredible patience in stressful situations where someone is making an effort to do what they can to make things right (and I am very, very reasonable in expecting what someone can do in most situations). In the case of the 9/4 cruise, DCL dropped the ball. To some extent, I can excuse that--UNTIL I FIND OUT THAT BY 9/28 THEY WERE STILL DOING THE SAME THINGS!!!!
