9/27/14, Returning to the Southern Caribbean

Hi all! So excited to have booked this cruise this morning! :) We booked one of the inside "secret sideways" rooms, lol. Would have liked a window, but it was pricey enough, even with the OBC. Maybe we'll upgrade before sailing, we'll see. So here's about us -

Number of adults / children in your group: 2 adults
Names of adults in your group: Amber & Jeff
Ages of children in your party (at your discretion): none
General location of where you currently live: Central California (approx 5 hours away from Disneyland!)
Castaway Club Level: Silver
Disney Vacation Club owner?: Yes, at Grand Californian, since maybe 2009?

We (well, I) specifically picked this sailing cuz it's left on my DBF Jeff's bday, Sept 27! Thought that would be a wonderful way to celebrate! However, since I'm apparently mathematically impaired (it's so far away!), I didn't realize that it would be his 30th, lol! Sooo I'm not a 100% this is what he'd like to do for his big 30th, but we'll hope!
Awesome! I picked this one because my birthday is Sept 27th...I will be 46 :cool1: I'm sure he'll enjoy the cruise. What a great week to celebrate a birthday :thumbsup2
:yay::yay::yay:

Hi Bill,
I didnt see anybody starting up a FE so for now I will start a list but if I missed the person who did start it, I will back off immediately. I dont want to step on anyones toes.;)

So for now the list is Kathy & Greg and Bill and Laura :thumbsup2

Who else wanted to particiapte in the FE? Please send me a PM or write here your information.

Thanks,

Kathy
Add DeeDee & Christy to the FE list please.
We did the Bacardi tour and he tour of old town in Puerto Rico this past December. It was very easy to get around PR. we booked our excursion through DCL it was about 6-7 hours long then we had time to eat locally. We enjoyed the forts, and old town a lot. I'm no expert but will happily answer any questions that I can...:confused3

for the FE I need:
Your first names of adults
--DeeDee & Christy
Names and ages of kids ( if you dont want to say your kids names, at least say DD for daughter and her age or DS for son and his age at the time of the cruise) Many give something separate for kids, thats why the gender and age is important.
--No kid(s) yet however we might have one by the time this cruise rolls around.

Cabin number
--#7626 nautical verandah

Any food allergies
--nothing major I can't each too much coconut

Plus I need your e-mail to send you a copy of the FE. I will not add it to the FE, so nobody will see it.
--DEEELGHT927@gmail.com I'm not worried this is my vacation email addy ;)

Hi Kathy,
I know on a few of my other cruises we made a private Facebook page to keep up with each other. Are you interested in having a FB page too? By keeping it private (it was for cruisers only) we shared information a little easier especially for those cruises that reached over 100 pages.
Several of us still keep in contact through the FB pages and have exchanged gifts and Christmas cards. It's just a thought :)
Thanks for being our FE admin

Sailing concierge has it's benefits ... have not sailed concierge as of yet ... have always had the mindset to use the extra money to go on another cruise. Then again, we stayed at Animal Kindgom Lodge Concierge ... and I can certainly get used to it! :cool1:

Thanks for sharing any information (and pics) you may have about San Juan. Since this technically is not a port of call, any information will help those who are doing a pre/post cruise stay. We were in San Juan for a 4-hour port of call in 2006 ... we opted to walk around portions of Old San Juan. If nothing else, we certainly have enough time to do research.

***When we get closer to the cruise, I will look into a group hotel stay (pre/post cruise), and perhaps a group Bacardi tour (if there is interest). I believe the Bacardi facility is very close to the port.

Steven
We would be interested Ina pre-cruise stay. We'd like to do 2 nights before the cruise.
Thanks:thumbsup2

Thanks for the information. I have you both added and a ? for kids;)

I have been on a few cruises where we had a Facebook page as well as the Dis boards for posting. They work great as long as people dont forget about those on the dis who dont like FB. Sometimes they seem to get forgotton.
I will post on both with no problem.

I am all for it if you want to make us a private cruise page there. My DH posts on FB but doesnt post on the Dis.

Who else would like a FB page for this cruise??
Maybe we should take a vote on it?

My dads name was Dee. I havn't seen if very often.

Kathy

HI All! We are booked on this cruise as well! I have been waiting not all that patiently for them to bring back a Southern, we have not done it yet! :)
I WAS hoping for the 11 day over the holidays, but we'll take what we can
get! We are in Stateroom 7112(our favorite stateroom on the Magic!!!!) Now onto the questions!!

Number of adults / children in your group: 2 "adults"
Names of adults in your group:Stephanie and Dave
Ages of children in your party (at your discretion): 56 at time of cruise :lmao:
General location of where you currently live: Northern Virginia, just outside DC
Castaway Club Level: PLATINUM
Disney Vacation Club owner?: [/COLOR]2006

Now to go back and read the ALREADY 5 pages of this group! :surfweb: Looks like this is gonna be a fun group!!!!:thumbsup2

Steven and Donna:
I was just looking at your list of cruises...:worship: you are my heroes!

But I did notice that we were on the same Panama Canal cruise in '08! We had such a wonderful time in Aruba and Colombia!!! So exciting to be on a ship the first time it sails into a port!
We were sitting in Sessions when the pilot scraped the wall coming out of the last lock fright under the porthole where we were sitting! Scared the bejeebus out of us! :rotfl2: We just did the first San Juan sailing on the 3rd of Nov...what a beautiful place! Look forward to perhaps exploring a bit more!

Look forward to learning more about everyone.

I would be interested in a CLOSED FB page, we've had them on a couple of cruises already, but I tend to forget to check there...

I was on the upper deck (acting like Leonardo DiCaprio) at the nose of the ship ... had the camera as well as camcorder rolling. There were four of us on that cruise ... but the others were running around the ship on their own. Nobody thought to bring me anything to eat or drink ... and I did not DARE give up my spot. It was actually very nice ... DCL set up a continental breakfast within the basketball courts ... OJ, croissants, hot cocoa and coffee, etc. Very nice!
popcorn::

(Facebook) A closed Facebook page is a good idea ... have been on them before in the past. If someone is willing to take charge, I'd say go for it. My preference would be to have a DISer send a PM to a Facebook ADMIN (via DISboards), to we can keep FB private ... with Facebook ADMIN having to approve any new members. Hopefully, we can create Google DOC's and spreadsheets, as well. It'd probably a good idea to set up a few people as FB ADMIN's.

I think we may have met! We were on this cruise as well! Did you participate in the group get together on board the first day? How cool to bump heads with past cruisers. ;)

Yes we did!! Very cool! I don't know of a cruise where we've had this happen before, and this will be our 13th! Not in Steven's league, but I'm working on it! :rotfl:

Welcome Stephanie and Dave :goodvibes
This group is growing really fast!!

If you're interested in doing the FE please send me your information, either by PM or e-mail. sixtoedfrog@yahoo.com and I will add you to the list.
There are 6 families so far.

When we are closer to the cruise we will vote to see when we want to close it and if we have enough particiapting that we need to divide the group.

Kathy

It looks like several want to have a private FB page.:thumbsup2

We need a name for our group first?

Who has any ideas for a name? :confused3

Lets see some ideas from everyone the next couple days. Then the group can vote and majority rules for the name.
Is that ok with everyone??

After that I will see how to set it up if nobody else wants to do it.

But I would need at least 2 others willing to be administrators of the thread there too in case I am gone and someone new wants to be accepted into the group.;)
You can PM me if you want to volunteer for that. I know that I will need all that information before I can set it up.

I am off to WDW again today for some fun. Too bad its only 33 degrees outside right now. I dont even own a coat living in Florida.:rolleyes2 I do have a couple hooded sweatshirts. I guess that will have to do.

Put on those thinking caps for a name for this group today!!

Kathy

Hi Kathy,

Glad we'll be sailing together; though, it won't be this November! You've booked the October sailing that you were thinking of?

-Anni :)

That makes 4 of us on the EB PC Repo.

Hi all! I was on the Wonder when the new itins came out so I was waiting at the future cruises desk at 9 am on Feb 14 to book this! I got the last available 7A that is a partially obstructed veranda: 5632. At that moment there was only one other 7A left! These sailings will sell out quickly! We have two cabins with my DD and DSIL in a 9C on deck 2.

about us:

Number of adults / children in your group: 4 adults (two cabins)
Names of adults in your group: Karyn and Bob; Jillian and Michael
Ages of children in your party (at your discretion): none
General location of where you currently live: (subject to change over the next year+)Chicago area - Karyn, Central Illinois - Bob; Orlando - Jillian and Michael
Castaway Club Level: Gold for Jillian and I, Silver for the rest.
Disney Vacation Club owner?: Yes! Also since 1994

FE - maybe if the groups are small enough.

Would love to have a group rate for a hotel in San Juan!

Facebook - sure, but . . . it is difficult for those who don't have FB accounts.

Really looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Karyn
