IMO- wouldn’t do it again.

It was just DH and I- I LOVE Halloween- its my FAVORITE holiday, but, I thought the park was too crowded. I KNOW the party is for kids- but there was too many of them! Fantasyland AFTER the first parade was insane! But then again- I usually get “kid cranky” towards the end of my vacation- we only had 1 more day after the party before we were going home and I had enough! Sorry parents. That’s just me being kid-free :confused3

We wanted to get to the HM during the first parade- but forget it! We were on the other side of the street coming from Pirates and there was NO WAY we could get across-

We stayed for the 2nd parade like lots of people told us to do—we had good seats and a (pretty) great view (if only the drunk woman in the very front on the line would have put down her GI-NORMOUS balloon :sad2: (I kid you not- it was the size of a small fat person!) so all of us behind her would have had an even better view if she pulled it down!)
this location is a good viewing spot: Facing the Hall of Presidents on the same said as the attraction- we were on the left. You can stand on the wall in front of the small bldg with the carts- potato and fruit and stuff- facing the Liberty Bell. Good spot because the parade comes “right at you” you can see the front of the floats and the sides when the pass you. AND you can see the headless horseman running right at you. Pretty Cool

The candy lines were long- unless you happened to get lucky enough to be walking by one that just opened. DH said the woman behind him in line pushed her bag out in front of his to get candy- I tell ya! :furious:
BUT! Remember- on the way out at the end of the night- when you go through the turnstiles- they are just heaving little snickers bars into your bags! If you didn’t get enough candy in the park- you will make up for it when you get out!

Oooooo- AND fireworks FYI! DO NOT stand on the bridge (facing the castle) on the right side to see the fireworks—near Cosmic Rays---ummmm- there are trees there and most of the fireworks barely made it over them- so all you will see are lit up trees- not good. I didn’t think the fireworks were that great anyway- they are about the same as the regular ones— sorry- again. IMO.

Well- after the fireworks- to me- it still seemed fairly crowded. From what I was reading before we left- it sounded like the park would be virtually empty- not the case. We did make it to the HM- no wait at all! After that we were practically in the front of the castle for the 11:15 Villain show. And right afterwards- they came down and did a meet and greet- That was worth staying for.

I think one MNSSHP party in my lifetime was enough. :rolleyes1

We were there, too, and I pretty much agree. The crowds were ridiculous until after Hallowishes. I expected there to be plenty of people about, I did not expect to not be able to move at all. We just kinda wandered around the best we could and took in the atmosphere. The crowds were better after the fireworks (which I don't like as much as regular Wishes, though they are cool, just not as well timed, IMHO) and MUCH better after the second parade. I LOOOOOVED the parade. Best I've ever seen, I think. We came to the conclusion that, in the future, we'd either skip MNSSHP or buy tickets for two nights. Not being able to do much got frustrating. I am glad we did it, though. DD LOVED seeing the spooky lights and the atmosphere was fun, just wish the ticket sales were more limited.

We were up front for the same Villian's show as you.. We thought that show was a lot of fun.

I wore my green mickey head and I only met (1) Diser :guilty:

Did you get any pics with the Villains?

Did you see the poor woman who fell at the curb??? That was sad- I didnt want to stare, but DH said there was blood everywhere! I think she hit her nose. We saw a woman at our hotel the next day and DH said it may have been her b/c her face looked pretty bruised up. :guilty:

Dang, maybe so crowded because it was a Friday and the locals came too?
We are going on the 2nd, a monday. Hope it is not too crowded, plan to avoid the first parade and get lots of rides in...

Bev

Even in polls about who's going to which party, the first two parties had the most DISers going.

I think it was because they were both on Fridays, they were the first ones of the season and because they also were doing free dining during that period.

I really don't think the early October parties, especially during the week, will be that bad crowd-wise.

Well we were a group of three adults and we had the greatest time! We didn't get there til 7:30 and there were long lines at the turnstiles. We picked up our tix (no line at all) and headed in. We didn't think it was overly crowded at all, in fact tix were still available for that evening's party. We just soaked up the atmosphere on Main Street and headed to Buzz which we walked right on. Everyone was gearing up for the early parade. You could walk on everything in Tomorrowland. We grabbed at quick bite at Cosmic Rays and went trick or treating. What fun! Lines were not long at all and if they were, it went quickly. We watched the second parade in Frontierland and yes the headless horseman rides in BOTH parades. We missed the Villians mix-n-mingle but that didn't diminish our good time. The fireworks were fantastic! We didn't leave the park til 12:30ish so we missed the candy at the end of the night at the park exit - it was finished - signs down and all. We left with a ton of candy (Snickers, Raisinets, lollipops, tootsie rolls, Reeses PB cups, M&Ms, etc etc) though! We all agreed the party was a blast and would do it again. This beats the Christmas Party by a landslide!

We were there on the 22nd too. The park was crowded! More crowded than during the day. The ride lines weren't bad, except Haunted Mansion. We went back 3 times and each time the line was all the way back to the stroller parking. During the week it was a walk on. We ended up skipping it. We did enjoy the fireworks, we watched them from Fantasyland. I kept waiting for the crowds to thin out but we felt they didn't ease up until close to 11:00 pm. We were there 3 years ago and it wasn't nearly as crowded.

Hm... Were we at the same party? I ask because we also went on 9/22. At first we thought the place was packed but then we noticed that none of the rides had any waits.

Every ride we went on was a walk-on. Even the HM, in fact, there were just about 15 or 20 of us in the stretching room.

We did all of the trick or treat lines (just candy, no characters) and none took more than 5 minutes.

We found a great spot for the fireworks in front of the castle 15 minutes before the show and there were plenty of other spots around us.

We saw the 2nd parade without any problems either and we just walked up to it when it came.

Maybe we somehow avoided the crowds without even trying?

Weird.

I'm with you. We were at the same party as well. Noticed it was very crowded, after the parade, after Hallowishes... But walked onto every ride. Saw the villian show twice, had a great spot for the 1st parade in Liberty Square, lots of children... but it was to be expected. I think people put too high of expectations on these after hours events. We had a blast.

Although I think the fun for us was because we dressed up, and acted out our characters a little bit. We have such funny memories! I think next year Michelle is going as Malificent, and I am going as Ursula. Better get started on that costume now! lol.

And where is everyone's pictures!?

I'll start a new thread for them...

Ok, I don't feel so bad now. I thought maybe it was just us, but at least there are other souls out there that can live without repeating this party. We don't have kids, so maybe that was part of it. We had a great time, but it's a been there done that sort of a thing for us. The fireworks disappointed me. The parade was great. The rides were total walk-ons for the most part. The longest wait that we saw was about 20 minutes that night, but we skipped the little kiddy rides and went to the HM early just before the party officially began and it was a total walk on.

Again, it was a good event. It was worth the money to see it once, but it's just not worth doing again. Maggie

We were there too and had a FANTASTIC time! The park was crowded..more so than it had been all week..but we didnt care. We got tons of candy, met lots and lots of charachters, loved the fireworks (had a great spot right in front of the castle, watched the parade from frontierland....was great! We skipped the villan mix and mingle as DD is only 4 and not huge into meeting the villans...and since we walked onto every ride earlier in the week..didn't bother with them that night, we just soaked up the atmosphere. The only line that was really long and slow moving was to meet minnie, everything else moved swiftly along!

Thanks for all of your reviews...My sister and I will be taking my 13 year old granddaughter to the Halloween Party...She has never been before, although, my sister and I both have.....Even though she is considered to be a teenager I think will put our "all" into making sure she is having a super time...But, like many of the other adults...This will probably be our last time...

Can anyone comment on the line for pictures on Cinderella's Coach? Also, where is it located during the party?

Just wanted to say sorry you didn't enjoy the party, but we've certainly been enjoying the Capt. Jack thread while you've been gone. Did you see him in the parade?

Here's hoping the party on Oct 23 isn't too crowded. I'm hoping that since it's a Monday night, and the free dining will be over, there won't be quite a huge crowd. But, if it's crowded, so be it. We'll wander around, grab a bite to eat, watch HalloWishes and then do more, watch the second parade, do some more. I would think we won't be up early on the 24th!!!! Now, I wonder if I should wear my Malificent costume, headpiece and all..hmmm.

It is over by the old skyride/stroller parking in fantasy land. Lines stayed consistantly at 20 min or so.

googy4tink I'll be there for the party on the 23rd! Let's hope for the best!

We'll be at the party on the 23rd too.
We won't be up early on the 24th - we plan on sleeping in and then lounging by the pool.

We're also going to the party on the 26th. It will be interesting to see how the crowds on a Monday night compare to those on a Thursday night.
