OBC for gold members is $275 per room.

Platinum members for Alaska cruise get a $350 OBC.
Gold member for Alaska cruise get a $275 OBC

This is NOT true -- unless you are transferring an onboard reservation for this one! Disney confirmed it on Monday and again today when I called. There is NO OBC with a NEW booking for any CC member. My TA said the same thing. The OBCs are ONLY for those who are transferring a previous onboard booking.

Now your TA may be offering an OBC, but not Disney (unless previously booked). Our's is giving us $250 OBC for verandah room!

:headache: I just spent about 45 minutes, maybe even more on the phone with DCL.:sad2: THEY ARE SO MESSED UP!!

First, I called bcuz my CC # was not working on the DCL website. Even tho I'd verified it with a CM and had it emailed to me (twice) blah, blah, blah every time I tried to USE it to view my profile it kept telling me it was an invalid number. Go figure. :rotfl: The CM I was speaking to kept telling me I had to enter my birthdate into my profile. MEANWHILE there was no FIELD to enter it on the profile page!! :rotfl2: OMG I thought it would never end. I had to create a new account. Once I got in I saw my 3 completed cruises - the most recent one had a description of Westbound PC so I wondered out loud about that & she couldn't explain it.:confused3 So who knows what THAT glitch is about but we were NOT on a WB PC...

ANYWAY...I figured while I was on the phone with them I'd ask a couple other questions.:rolleyes1

RE: the 50% deposit thing. The CM I was talking to said as far as she was concerned that would be over starting tomorrow. So I tried to verify that as an example IF I try to move my existing ressie on Monday to a Med cruise that I would lose that 50% option that we currently have and that we would have to pay the full $600 pp IF we decided to switch (which we will not do if that's the case). I told her I wanted to verify this as fact before I go fire off a nasty-gram to DCL Guest Communications about my feelings on the entire subject. So THEN she says "let me put you on hold and check with my supervisor". OK. Good idea.:thumbsup2 ('Cuz I'd already asked for her name so she KNEW I was going to use it in my email as "so & so said".) OK, so now I'm on hold for several more minutes (at this point I've lost count how long I've been on the phone) and she comes back and says that the official answer is that "we won't know until Monday until the system computes it based on your individual reservation". :lmao: So oh GOODY!! :rotfl2: Nobody knows!

Monday will still be telephone booking only. Nothing online yet she said. However I'm not sure if she was any more informed than the bus drivers at WDW.:upsidedow

Oh, and I couldn't get any more info. about the Med cruises out of her since I'm only a silver member. (There still isn't that much info. being posted about those - at least nothing yet that answers my questions.) I just thought I'd try to beg a little bit since I'd been on the phone with her for so long - thought MAYBE we were good friends at this point so I was hoping she'd take pity. NOT!:rotfl: The only thing I accomplished was getting my CC # to work. DOH!!!!!!!

Did you happen to note if any other categories were sold out on that cruise? I believe 6a is full already. I'm hoping for a 9C for 2A2K.

Jodie

6A rooms are all the way aft which do not fit 4 - sleeps max of 3
Old cat 7 rooms, old cat 5 rooms and old cat 6 rooms aft of the cat 7 rooms only sleep 3
If you look at the new deck plans 6A rooms are the light orange ones aft on deck 5, 6 and 7
The only rooms in cat 6A on deck 7 that will fit 4 are the handicap rooms

If you ask for category 6A with 4 people it will say it isn't available because the room cannot accommodate the 4th person.
Doesn't mean they are sold out.

Has anyone booked using their DVC points for the cruise yet? WIth prices this insanely high (3x Princess it seems), I would like to burn through my points rather than spend the $$$.

Which cruise are you looking at. I booked on the Aug 23rd Alaska with partial points and paid for one of our kids!

Yes, this morning when I called to ask another question I asked about this and the CM read the notice they have that states that the 50% deposit special ends at midnight tonight and on 9/24/09 full deposits will be required for any and all bookings basically until further notice.

This is so disappointing - I'm only a Silver cruiser and it seems like there is no real advantages to being a CC member at all until you hit Gold! :sad2::mad:

We had an OB booking with 1/2 price deposit we transferred to 2011 cruise , we were told that if we did not pay the difference before Sep 24th we would lose the 1/2 deposit and have to rebook paying the $600 per person deposit.

Well, I guess that answers the question about if you can transfer a ressie with the 50% on it currently.

Has anyone booked the MR holiday cruises?

No one has posted this anywhere on the main cruise board yet.

Thanks.

Can I add that later? We want to do the Alaska cruise but will arrive in Vancouver a few days early to see the area. We plan to get to fly to Seattle and then take the Amtrak to Vancouver. I guess we could do the transfer from the train station when we return the car.

For the Alaska cruises the transfers are $49 pp airport to ship to airport. If you stay at a pre-cruise stay hotel with DCL the transfers are $69 pp airport to hotel to ship to airport.

You can add it later. We are also looking at the inexpensive Amtrak trip but DCL won't pick you up there.

I seriously don't think it is a glitch. We faxed in a request to move a "dummy" reservation to the PC at 2:00 p.m. At 2:30 p.m. the PC cruise was showing up in my previous cruise section and is still there. It replaced our most recent 7 night cruise and not our 4 night or the first 7 night (perhaps because I requested the same room number as the most recent cruise?). I am going to hold out hope that we get a confirmation so I don't have to scramble on Monday morning.

I completely understand. Most cruise lines base the credits on cruises taken, category of cabin, and length of cruise. Allowing an extra credit for the longer cruise or higher cabin. It is kind of sad that some of us who have spent more then 30 days on the ship can still be Silver. I just think DCL should have taken other things into consideration. I truely think taking away the CC party for Silver was sad... and the fact that we are not entitled to "special merchansdise". I know I am lucky to have gotten on this cruise prior to the 28th so I shouldn't complain - but I truely understand the frustration and anger others have. I have 4 cruises total and unfortunately, being in CA we can not get a 5th one before this one. We just returned from WDW in August and kind of wished now we had taken a 3 day :sad1:

Oh well..what's done is done and it won't change my excitement for this cruise...just frustrating.

Are you making up the difference from your original 1/2 deposit to $300pp, or $600pp??

(I'm guessing this may be a transferred OB booking of a shorter/non-'special' cruise... had it been a Trans-Atlantic or Med booking, the prev 1/2 deposit would have covered the 1/2 deposit for Alaska.)

Could anyone tell me what the latest quotes are for PC cruise for 2A cats 10 and 11? Thank you. I am trying to be prepared for Monday morning. Just hope there is "room in the inn."

I think our spring break is the week of April 17th in 2011, so I decided to give DCL a call to get some quotes for the 4/16/11 Magic Western:

2 Adults, 1 Child(12)

Cat. 11C (formerly cat. 12) $3415.07
Cat. 10A $4415.07

:scared1:

That explains my confusion. I think someone tried to explain this before, but I must have had a brain cramp. Thanks!

Jodie

Anyone get pricing for that cruise? I think it might be over our Spring break so we are thinking about transferring to that date on Monday. Thanks in advance!
Lisa

I know that Alaska is more exciting than Mexico, since Disney has already been there twice... But, I am still totally shocked that there haven't been more people posting quotes for those cruises! Only one quote on the list is causing me much confusion... :confused3 Wow!

I'm guessing that most of us are DCL diehards with most of us already having done the MR and wanting to try AK. I know that's the category I fall into....

***For Alaska cruises.***

I see some people have quotes that include transfers. Are the transfers only from Vancouver airport or does it include other airports?

Seattle or Bellingham airport would be nice;)

I seriously don't think it is a glitch. We faxed in a request to move a "dummy" reservation to the PC at 2:00 p.m. At 2:30 p.m. the PC cruise was showing up in my previous cruise section and is still there. But we did NOT fax a req. for the PC. We have a dummy res but it's for Dec. 2010. We can't go in January because of school. I am sorta interested in the Meds tho. Well, actually, I want to go on the Dream but I want a 7 n cruise - which sounds like is not going to happen. I also have my doubts being only a measly Silver CC member if we could get what we want on the Dream...so the Med thing is really a backup plan in case we don't like or can't get the Dream!!:rotfl:

Someone was posting about the MR prices (wondering about them). I think they will also be overpriced. School is another reason we can't do those either though. We won't know what our spring break week is that year until sometime next winter. Ours bounces around from the week before Easter to the week after Easter depending on when Easter falls. But it's too unpredictable to try to book a cruise NOW. I'd guess wrong for sure!

I DO plan on writing to DCL to share my opinion of this whole debacle. I think it was crappy planning on their part and I think the Silver members are getting pretty pissy treatment. If anybody else is interested, this is the email address to write to:
