9-08-2010 Pirates through the Mediterranean/ Yo Ho! Yo Ho! A Pirates Life for Us

Thought it was time to finally "check-in" on this thread as well. I'm Kimberly (Kimmy), Renegade7 / Johanna's roommate.

We're doing the B2B and she's got most of our planning under control. :cool1: But I wanted to check here and see if anyone else was coming into Barcelona before the Med cruise and what time of sight-seeing they are planning on doing. Johanna & I were both planning on landing on the 5th to give us a few extra days but when we (separately) went to book our flights I had to move mine back a day and she had to move hers up so I've got 2 days in Barcelona alone. Not that I can't find some way to pre-occupy myself, but if some other group was going to be there already then that would be great!

Also, I know we've already worked out who we're actually sitting with for the 24 nights but wondered if anyone was turning in an all-inclusive list to DCL so that everyone (at each seating) would be in the same dining room and relatively close together.

Thanks and looking forward to meeting you all!

oh, BTW, does anyone have an updated list of everyone doing the B2B? Just curious...

So we finally got all of our excursions booked and got everything we wanted. my only question is when are we supposed to pay for these? Nothing popped up automatically. Do we pay on the ship?? Thanks for all of your experienced knowledge!

We do have early dining, if you want to hook up we can PM the reservation into to get them linked for dining?

Also, I put a link to the teeny tiny fish exchange thread on page 16, could you add that to the first post for me? Pretty please (If you already did, then just smack me for not paying attention!)

Im hoping we can get linked so we have some table mates , I dont like sitting alone ..LOL ....

The excursions are added to your onboard account. You settle up at the end of the cruise.

That would be great, we're linked with thwinters too, so we'll have some munchkins, (9, 8, and 7) as long as that's cool with you? Maybe a 7 year old boy to hang out with Ryan? ;)

My boys are 9 and 12 , but dont know if the 12 year old will make it to the cruise ....were hoping , just depends on some logistics with the US government...Hopefully they will start moving a bit faster on getting our 12 year old here to the states

Hello everyone! We are new to DisBoards, but will be doing our 4th Disney Cruise. We were originally booked for just for the TA, but added the Med today. Our first Back2Back! It will be me, my dh, ds (12), dd (8) and grandma (who has never cruised before).

We are also doing the B2B!

Firstly Palo is great..... for either brunch or dinner. I have looked at the dining bookings on disneycruise.com and it is showing that no current reservations are availaible in Palos for either brunch or high tea, (dinner bookings, they seem to be taking), however, if you keep looking that may change, our past experience was that when we embarked, there was a desk we went to that were taking Palo reservations for all, brunch, high tea, and dinner. Hope this helps :) ps if you do get to book, be hungry, very hungry...... :) :)

We've been to Palo several times. I have done dinner, brunch and high tea. Not too impressed by dinner or high tea, but brunch is great!

I would suggest dinner...I know Jason and I are in the severe minority here, but we were not that impressed with Palo brunch and we're not even going to do it either on the Med or the WBTA this trip----neither of us eats seafood of any kind and I know that is one of the things many people really like about the brunch, but also we just like both the atmosphere and the menu for dinner much better.

Isn't that funny how different people are! I just posted that I wasn't impressed by dinner or high tea, but we liked brunch! That's what's so great about Disney....something for everyone. :goodvibes

Hi Stacie, thanks for getting back to me, yes we would very much like to do this trip privately, so yes please we would be very interested in pricing.

Marie:)

Do you think we could join you? I wonder if twe could manage the wheelchair?

Hi,
So sorry, but the van we booked is full at 8 people. You could look to see if you could book Marcello (the partner of the guy we have, Marco) - the website is www.seesorrento.com

I'm not quite sure about the wheelchair - I know some of these towns on the Amalfi coast might not be super wheelchair friendly as they are built on the sides of cliffs and lots of steps - but you could ask Marcello - he would be able to tell you better than I. I will let you know if we end up having anyone drop out of our group.

Thanks, Stacie. I talked to Chuck and he said we are really only interested in Pompeii.....that and lunch would be enough for us. Still thinking about it.

If you only want to do Pompeii, I would suggest the train as it dumps you off right in front of it. You might have to take a taxi to the train station as it is a bit of a jaunt (especially if you have a wheelchair). You could take the train for very cheap - and from what I have read there are guides looking to fill groups of 10 outside of Pompeii - so you could perhaps join one of those groups or Rick Steves has an audio tour you can download. Not sure what the lunch options are though around there.

Or you could negotiate a taxi fare at the port for them to take you to Pompeii and come back to get you when you are done and perhaps take you to a good place for lunch - that will probably be cheaper than the private tour guide - but more expensive than the train.
