8th Grade Dance

I posted this on the teen site too, but I'd like to get some adult input as well!

What type of dresses are the girls wearing to the 8th grade dances?
When I went to mine (many years ago!) we just wore a regular dress. Like for church, etc.
My niece is shopping for her 8th grade dance dress and it seems more like the senior prom!
Do the girls were gowns?

my daughter hasn't started shopping for her dress yet.

their dance is at a local catering hall -- a place that does mostly weddings are bar mitzvahs.

her 8th grade dance is the same night as moving up exercizes, though, so I don't think the girls will be wearing gowns.

I think they'll wear short, dressy dresses.

That is what the girls wear here, too. They do like to get a fancy hairdo, though.
