8PM ADR at Les chefs de France to see Illuminations?

We, Dgranddaughter and I, have an 8PM ressie at Les Chefs de France for our first night at WDW. My thought was to ask at the podium for a window table, we would be willing to wait for one. That way we would get to see Illuminations at 9pm. DD, Dgranddaughter's Mom, says that she thinks I should change the ressie to approx 7:15pm. She, DD, says that she thinks that when we get there at 8ish, anyone who is seated at a window table won't leave because they will want to wait for Illuminations.

What is your experience? Do you think I should cancel the 8pm ressie and try for 7:15ish?

You won't see much of Illuminations from Chefs de France. Maybe some of the fireworks. There's not a great view of the lagoon from there, and there will be a couple of hundred people standing between Chefs and the lagoon.

Illuminations takes place right on the water. You wouldn't be able to see the globe, or the water or fire effects.

I'd go for an earlier reservation, so you're sure you'll be out in time to walk over to the lagoon and watch.

You won't get a very good view of Illuminations there. I'd just eat my dinner and go outside and see what kind of spot I could find.

If you want a shot at sitting at a table and seeing Illuminations, Rose and Crown is a better bet. Or you could grab some fast food in Mexico and hold down a table...but they go pretty early.

You can't really see Illuminations from Chefs de France. Way too many trees blocking the view. Also, you still won't have a good view if you step outside the restaurant to watch. If you want to see Illuminations, you'll need to eat earlier.

Thank you, I guess I'll try to move it up to about 7 - 7:15 ish, eat and then go outside for a better view.
