That is good old fashioned Florida water. We Floridians are used to it.

Use a grocery service to get some Zypherhills bottled water, or get some single-serve drink mix pouches to mix with it.

Good luck surviving WDW water!

I've been going to WDW since '99. The water really has improved in taste since then. I really don't have an issue with it at all. Everytime you go to a different part of the country, you are going to have differences in water taste.
I even drink from the bubblers/water fountains in the parks. Talk about living dangerously!!!

Crystal light packets are life savers...

Gotta love those crystal light packets. :thumbsup2 OP we have 2 cases of water delivered while we are at WDW. Besides, we don't drink Dasani. I refuse to even rinse with FLA water after brushing my teeth. YUCK is right. I guess if we lived there it would be a different story, but not this Northern girl.

Brita used to make sport bottles that had filters in them, they were awesome to take to the parks. Brita stopped making them but a few other companies still make something similar. They are usually in the $15 range but totally worth it.

If you think the water around Orlando is bad, you should taste the water in the more 'country' areas of Florida (i.e. Putnam County). When you live in Orlando for awhile, you either get used to it or get filters/buy bottled water. We bring empty water bottles into the park and use those Propel packets. There's something in that mix that seems to take the 'sulfur aftertaste' out of the water for us. :thumbsup2

I agree. I actually tried filling up my water bottle from the fountain and it gave me terrible stomach pains later that day. We now zip up to publix and buy ALL of our water. We buy bottle water for the parks and room and we buy several gallons of water for coffee in the morning. One time we forgot to get water for coffee and boy did it ever change the taste.

Florida was once part of the ocean floor and its 'foundation' is limestone. Overall, Florida is rated as one of the 5 worst states for drinking water quality and it has alot to do with its geology and then contamination from human developments and activities.

What you are possibly tasting depending, on the government source you are using, could include some inorganic impurities like: Aluminum, Arsenic, Barium, Cadmium, Calcium, Chlorine, Chromium, Copper, Iron, Lead, Nickel, Nitrate, Nitrite, Magnesium, Manganese, Silica, Sodium, Sulfate, and Zinc.

Sources higher in sulfate will provide the oder that many people quickly recognize or associate with Florida water.

You can buy water bottles that filter the water. Most sporting goods stores have them. There are different levels of filtration available. The better the filtration the higher the cost of the bottle.

So this might explain why I get surprise "highlights" in my dark brown hair after showering on property a few times.

Have had no problem with the water at WDW. We always get the free ice water from the CS restaurants too:drinking1

The water not only tastes really bad, but it really stinks too

The water in the Orlando area is basically chemically-treated swamp water. I live in Melbourne, and it's not any better.

Part of the icky taste/smell is the high level of chlorine put into the water to sterilize it.

One thing you can do, if you have the time -- fill up a gallon jug with the tap water and put it in the fridge overnight. LEAVE THE CAP OFF. Chlorine is very unstable in a liquid state and will evaporate in 12-24 hrs. We find that the tap water tastes MUCH better after it sits overnight in the fridge...

We've noticed that the water tastes worse at some resorts than others - we could not stomach the tap water at BLT, and we also noticed a slight odor to the water when we showered. But at BC and BWV the water tasted fine to us. :confused3

Get ice from the ice machine, and let it melt overnight. In the morning you will have normal tasting water. Trust me, it works. I don't mind the water too much. I noticed if you swallow it real quick you can hardly taste it.

When I was a kid, Orlando water upset my stomach to the point that I would get sick. My stomach is still sensitive to it but less than when I was a kid. To me, the filter bottles add their own bad taste. We buy bottled water from off-site whether we go by car, order from a delivery service or mail order,

The taste is bad.. the smell is worse
We drink more pop than usual due to water, it covers it alot.

On the flip side better than in Jamica or Bahamas, where they filter salt water.. UGGGGGGGG
