Does it matter that we are leaving at 8 pm? We are staying at one of the onsite resorts and will use DME for pickup, but is there a time limit for the return to the airport? We were planning on spending the day in the parks after we check out (and leaving our luggage at the front desk). We want to leave for MCO at 5 pm on a Wed nite.
Thanks for your help!

If you sign up for DME back to the airport, you dont pick your time, they will tell you when the bus leaves, and if you arent on it, tough. You will get paperwork on your door the day before stating when the bus will leave to goto the airport. You are expected to be there I would suggest at least 15 minutes before the departure time shown, with all your luggage if you arent using resort airline checkin. The driver will load and unload the luggage, and a tip is expected..

And your departure time will basically be what you were wanting anyway, approx 3 hours before your flight time.

edit: ALSO, do not plan too much for the last day. Yes you can have some fun leaving that late, but start making your way back to the resort PLENTY early in case you miss a bus and have to wait, or they are slow or whatever.. Basically dont plan an ADR for 4pm and hope to make it back for your DME bus. :)

Thanks for the advice. I read somewhere that the DME runs only till 1 pm for return flights? Not true???

DME, the actual transportation to and from MCO is a 24/7 operation. NOW, if you are using the luggage transfer back to MCO, then there are certain times you have to have luggage checked in by, but if you are taking your own luggage back to MCO, DME will get you to MCO anytime of the day, provided you are signed up for it of course :). If you are the only person at your resort that has a flight at 8:00 pm as an example, DME will have a bus there to pick you up at the time they assigned (approx 3 hours before hand still)

Well stated. Some people get confused with the whole DME vs participating airline thing.

I bet this is what the OP was thinking.... this pertains to RAC...
The operating hours are 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily. Below is the full set of policies for using the Resort Airline Check-In Service:

Flying domestically (includes Puerto Rico an the US Virgin Islands)
On their day of departure, Guests must check-in no less than 3 hours prior to their flight departure time
Guests with a flight departure time before 8:00 a.m. must check-in at the airport
For families traveling together, a parent or guardian may check-in for their spouse and minor children
Some Guests may be selected to check-in at the airport and may not be able to use the service
Luggage must be 50 pounds or less to use the service
One checked bag per person permitted. If you have more than that, you will need to check-in at the airport
A valid government issued photo ID and Key to the World Card are required

DME itself runs all day every day. If you take your own luggage, simply leave it with Bell Services and retrieve it before getting on DME.

DUds

WE are flying a participating airline back to EWR from MCO on our August trip. We intend to check our bags at RAC around 11AM before we check out of our room. Our flight back to EWR is 8:17PM so we will have time to eat lunch at Epcot before our DME pick-up around 5:17PM.
If we were driving back to the airport, I would have left the resort at 5:37PM anyway....
We will take DME to the resort from the airport on arrival day, and rent a car for getting around at a very busy time. I have convinced DH to drop the car off at the Dolphin and take the DME bus back....to save gas $$$.
We will see how this works for us.
