8 percent off Disney Gift cards

Does anyone know, is there a "Disney Store" gift card, or are they all just Disney GCs now that Disney owns the Disney Stores again?

At least on these gift card reseller sites, there is a distinction between the two and Disney Store cards means you CANNOT use them at the WDW, cruises, for tickets etc. If Disney Store have changed their cards to where they work for WDW now, I am unaware.
Of course to make it all the more confusing the cards good for Disney Store and cards good for DisneyWorld use the same artwork and are both called Disney cards. can only tell by looking on the back.
Also, I meant to point out there are better sites then the one posted above for Disney Store GC. I've seen 10% off for those, but 8% is the best I've seen for WDW cards. Gift card granny is a pretty good resource for finding them, although not perfect as they tend to ignore shipping on EBay cards, which can greatly alter your discount.

.

Disneystores ONLY sell Disney giftcards that are good both in the stores, and at the parks, cruiselines, etc. However, the store issues merchandise credits, that can only be used in the store, and people may try and resell these, and that are only for the store. ALSO, places like Sams Club, had a deal where you could buy Disney gift cards, and you got a bonus Disneystore gift card, only for use in the stores. There could be other sources for these Disneystore only gift cards, but I am not aware of any. People may also try and resell these TDS only cards.

I wasn't sure about the brick n mortar stores since we don't have any nearby, but the Disney store online does sell online gift cards that are only good at disneystore.com as well.
Yes, most of the Disney Store gift cards you see for sale are probably merchandise credits. They tend to be weird amounts too like $67.14 instead of normal gift card denominations.

Honestly, I don't see the appeal of these sites. Sure you save a little bit, but to me it hardly seems worth the effort or the risk unless your purchasing gift cards in high denominations. I do like the sites that will offer you a direct trade minus a processing fee. To me that may make sense if you are given a gift card you will not use.

Most guarantee the sale for 30-45 days. I typically use it within that time, and some of the cards have huge discounts, others I save a lot on because I shop a lot there over the course of the year.
Michael's, Petsmart are 18% - 25% discounts. The michael's cards combined with their 40 or 50 percent off coupon keeps the kids and I in crafts, school supplies and toys for the year.
I'll get Walmart at 3.5 percent or target at 6% because I spend so much in their stores over the course of the year. I used to not bother because their percentage is so low but Walmart is our main grocery store for our family of 5 and where I buy the kid's basics like underwear and socks, and household goods, gardening supplies even alot of home improvement stuff like sandpaper, paint rollers etc (and our house ALWAYS needs work).. Averaging in the holidays they probably end up with $500 or more of our money a month. That's over $200 in pretty low effort savings a year. Lowes and home depot can be found for 8%. Airlines like Southwest 8%
We try to stay out of restaurants but when we do go to a chain we always have a gift card. Saving $5-$10 when we do eat out adds up, another $100-$200 a year, more if you count vacations. We only get cards for things we are doing anyway, so it doesn't become an excuse. Also, having to plan ahead for purchases by a couple of days is a good strategy to see if something really is worth it. All told the amount we save just doing the gift cards pays for a modest trip for us to Disney. For us it is like a rewards credit card without the risk of interest if something goes wrong and a slightly higher return. So it is worth it to me! Mortage, Utilities, and Gas and the doctor are just about the only things we don't pay for with these. I even paid for my kid's horseback riding lessons with tractor supply gift cards last week at the instructors request. She ended up with a little more then she would have gotten and I ended up paying a little less.

I guess it makes sense for the items you mentioned, but I was thinking more in terms of Disney that most people do at most once a year. Unless you are buying lots of them to pay for your entire trip, you're not really saving that much. Honestly, we shop in very few stores anymore. We do most of our food shopping @ Wegman's and we get a few items @ Costco each month, so I guess that would make sense. And Amazon would definitely be worth whiled as we buy most things that way. We buy all of our clothes at Kohl's, but you usually have to put your order on your kohl's card to get the discounts. It just seems that whenever I look at the sites there is like hardly anything available that I would want and if there are cards available the percentage savings is so little. I guess everybody's Mileage May Vary.

That's true , it all depends on your spending habits/family size etc. When the kiddos are older and the grocery and whatnot bills go down I doubt I'll be doing it anymore. As far as the Disney Trips, I agree if you are just buying one or two cards for under $100, it is probably not worth your time looking and any potential risk of losing the cards whatnot. But I like to give gift cards to my kids for holidays especially leading up to a trip, so saving a couple of dollars here or there when I'm on those sites anyway works for me!
